Keep spending that money Snyder. Eat up all your cap.

Maybe they will sign Robiskie and take Massaquai off our hands too!

I think someone told Snyder that they can play with two balls and Griffen is a two fisted passer.

Possibly, but it would be a good match, because he is a two-fisted spender.

I don't expect a splash just as I don't expect we will win 4 home games next year.

They like our receivers. They like our backs, especially now that Hillis is gone, and they like our QB.

Everything is just great.

You guys can write off not being FA players and laugh at teams who sign players and don't win. In my book at least they are trying. Our nitwits just sit around and watch good players go to the wayside.

Maybe Lerner has tightened the purse strings..if so, I'll cut Homie and Heck a little slack. If not, what are we saving the money for?? Who do we intend to pay?? We have to start paying people something near the cap.

I don't get these guys.

Hillis to visit KC.

hillis to kc ?

Peyton Hillis’s new home could be in Kansas City.

Hillis, the free agent Browns running back, will pay a visit to the Chiefs, Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.

Although he was one of the NFL’s biggest disappointments in 2011, Hillis has shown flashes of talent, especially in 2010 when he had 270 carries for 1,177 yards, added 61 catches for 477 yards, and scored 13 touchdowns. The Chiefs could have themselves a good running attack if they could pair a healthy Hillis with a healthy Jamaal Charles in their backfield.

Hillis checks in at No. 39 on our Free Agent Hot 100.

I don't think they like the positions as much as you think. I'm sure they're just toating the company line for the most part.

They were rumored to be in the RG3 trade up discussions and they're now rumored to be trying to sign Flynn. To me, that doesn't sound like a group of men that like the current QB. They might be ok with McCoy for one more year, but I think they're trying to improve the position as much as they can (within the framework of the MH's plan).

I see them taking a WR with one of our first three picks. And maybe we take a RB too. These aren't dumb guys. They know what works and what we have or don't have. IMO, they are trying to build the team the right way and think they have a big enough window to do it right. Now, will the fans accept that timeline? From what I read on here, not a chance.

I know nothing of Flynn other than seeing him throw one pass in that game he played late in the season and what Aaron said of his talents. So I can't really comment on if I want him.

Good for Freeman.

As much as it sucks to not see "....sign with the Browns" in every breaking news report (though I don't really want high-priced FAs). I'm also happy to see these guys aren't signing on to the other AFCNorth teams too (and I'm hoping they don't re-sign their guys also).

Keep these guys out of our division and off the 2012 schedule.

Bucs bag Vincent Jackson

Vincent Jackson AP

As expected, the Buccaneers have agreed to terms with receiver Vincent Jackson, according to a source with knowledge of the deal.

It’s a five-year deal worth a grand total of $55,555,555. (I just realized that’s ocho cincos.)

He gets $26 million fully guaranteed, via a $2 million roster bonus in 2012 and a fully-guaranteed $11 million base salary in 2012. For 2013, he gets a $13 million base salary, fully guaranteed.

The last three years aren’t fully guaranteed, with a $10 million base salary in 2014, a base salary of $9,777,777 in 2015, and a base salary of $9,777,778 in 2016.

one thing that's important to understand.. looking at players that you think can upgrade a position isn't the same as saying what you have stinks..

all it means is that you are trying to upgrade a position.

Maybe they like McCoy, but hey,, if you can get what you believe is the next Brady or Manning or Favre,, you gotta try.. But it doesn't mean you have to break the bank to do it..

...and the Rams can throw another party as they have a clear path to Blackmon now. For us this means we could get a call from JAX at 7 for Blackmon (for a 3rd+ or a future 2nd) and then take Tannehill right in front of Miami (though risking that MIA or SEA jump to TB's 5th...but I think they won't do that if they can land Claiborn at 5)

Browns | Matt Flynn would become starter if added
Tue, 13 Mar 2012 16:52:11 -0700

If the Cleveland Browns land free-agent QB Matt Flynn (Packers), he would replace QB Colt McCoy as the team's starting quarterback. General manager Tom Heckert said it was likely the Browns would pass on trying to sign a big-name free-agent quarterback, but it appears he has changed his opinion on the team's strategy

I like the idea of Mincey, though KFFL screwed up - he's a Jags alum, not Browns. He's I think a 5th or 6th year guy but with only 2 years of real experience - so low mileage, still in his 20s, and was better in his second year as a contributor (and his first as a starter). He may not be Super Mario, but fits H&H's no huge splashes. He's an upgrade for sure over Mitchell IMHO.

That's why if you want to do that, you draft Blackmon at 4, and wait to see what happens leading up to specific spots, and then if when say a JAx or someone comes up, you can offer them a swap...

If not, then you still get the top WR...

Mincey would be a nice pick-up. Now we just have to hope a $500 workout bonus doesn't nix the deal.

It is a good O draft class. RB is loaded so no sweat on Hillis. Turbin in the 3rd *we called it on him stock soaring*. 2nd round receivers with Sanu, Jeffery, Dwight Jones, QB and OT in the first :P

Still want Levi Brown to be a Brown. Give him Steiny's money.

He seems more like a solid rotation guy, not the speed demon pass rusher we can get in rounds 1 or 2 of the draft.

Bears are after him too . . .

Good for them. I always had a soft spot for the Bills. I hope they kick some butt this season, except for when we play them.

I'm usually a glass half full kind of guy but I got one of those empty pit feelings that we aren't going to have a good offseason. Lose Hillis, won't get Flynn or RGIII, will probably draft Tannehill at four. IDK. I see another Usama Young type FA pick up. With Mario Manningham saying the general consensus around the league is FA's don't want to come to CLE it makes me wonder is it more than just we haven't won?

FWIW, it's entirely possible, in my opinion, that our offseason could be absolutely awful and our season this year be even worse than this past year.

But, I think it's also possible that we won't make a big splash in free agency but will have a very good draft. It might not net us those big names like Luck or RGIII, but maybe we get a guy like Claiborne or something. We struggle our way through 2012, but you can see the team is improved.

Then, next year, we make a big signing or two in FA and have another great draft and the next thing you know, we're right in the thick of things.

It just doesn't do me any good to be totally negative. It's frustrating as hell, but I like to be positive.

I'll be negative for you...

IMO, any player that's worth anything won't sign here until we have a bona fide QB. Why would you unless the Browns would totally overpay for the guy and in that case, do you really want that guy? So if we go 4-12 again and offense is scoring 15 points a game again....who exactly will want to play for us?

So you're saying that Josh Freeman is a bona fide QB?

Also, how many free agent WRs have signed with the "most" bona fide QBs, Rodgers & Brees?
