That list also includes 3-4 outside linebackers, which, as others have pointed out, is a completely different position.
Also, why don't you post a link to your respected, astute NFL writer? Oh wait, you can't because Bleacher Report is garbage.

anyone can find Bleacher Report...but the argument was, "Gocong is one of the best blitzing LB'ers in the NFL" It was a general statement,it didn't claim what kind of OLB,4-3 or 3-4. and the thing is,there is no proof to back up that claim..its one's opinion. I said 3.5 sacks hardly establishes the fact that he's one of the best blitzing LB'ers in the NFL. even if he was in 3-4 scheme,he couldn't come up with double digit sacks. only in these parts is he considered above average or good.

The statement was made assuming that people would only compare Gocong that played his position. Comparing him to players like DeMarcus Ware and Clay Matthews is ridiculous, maybe next time the original poster can spell it out for those who like to ignore simple points.

You want to know something...he did play in a 3-4 scheme. In 2010. For the Cleveland Browns. And guess what, he didn't play outside linebacker. Because he isn't a good fit for that position.

I thought Gocong played at a probowl level when moved to the SAM.

By SAM do you mean outside linebacker in a 3-4 defense? Because there is no way he is that good.

I didn't lay a egg..you said Gocong was one of the best blitzing LB'ers in the NFL. for one,I didn't see it on the field and 2,I don't recall Gocong being talked about among the leagues best OLB's and 3 his numbers don't reflect it. that sounds like your own opinion. in your original claim you didn't specify 4-3 or 3-4 OLB'ers. you just saying LB'ers. and BTW Mr Brown...in Jauron's 4-3 scheme, rarely does he dial up blitzes from his LB'ers. and if he was so good, then Jauron would use it to his advantage, cause the Browns were pathetic in getting to the QB last year. Gocong is average..deal with it.
Actually we did rush Gocong on obvious 3rd down and long situations and we also removed Taylor, so Gocong was the 4th rusher many times, but not a blitzing LBer in the truest scene.
Really that's not such a high priority with a 43 OLBer, DJ is correct about that, but the team does feel that Gocong has some pass rush abilities (at least better then what else we had) or they wouldn't have used him in that way.
I like him better on the strong side, he doesn't have Fujita's instincts, but he has enough speed for the position.
The week link is on the weak side imo. We need a guy who can tackle and cover backs out of the backfield. Rushing the passer is a bonus, but that alone won't make for a good WIL.

He is underrated here and I agree with you that he's a probowl level guy at SAM when he is attacking the LOS. He is barely below average when he's in space and is well below average moving away from the LOS. His play was way better than Fujita at SAM. But now there's a huge hole at WILL. I wonder who we could draft to fill it?
