Cool, good to see you're not a Reds hater.(there's not that many here anyway) I don't mind rooting for the Tribe either, this unified baseball thread should work out after all.

Excellent outing by Cueto tonight. Scary to think how good he'll become.

when we lived in Columbus we split time going to Cincy 4 Reds games and up here 4 the Tribe..Grew up a Tribe fan 1st Reds 2nd ..my son and wife are also fans of both..Cleveland & Cincy world series gotta go Tribe

What to do when Sizemore comes back? Right now the Indians are playing good ball, who do you sit, Brantley young guy, key to the Indians future, Choo he's your everyday RF for years, Damon if healthy brings alot to the table, Hafner also if healthy plays everyday at DH. Is there even a spot for Sizemore?

As for the Reds, Cueto pitched an excellent game tonight, and he is on my fantasy team.

It may be that Sizemore becomes that guy who gives other guys a day off. He could play 3 times/week doing that. For someone with his injury history, that's not a bad way to go.

The Rangers line-up reminds me of the Indians' 90's boppers - not much breathing room from top to bottom. I don't know who can beat them if their pitching holds up. I was very impressed with Gomez last night, though. He looks like a solid #2 or 3 starter, which will be necessary if Jimenez continues to struggle. It willing be interesting - and telling - to see how he fares the 2nd or 3rd time around the league. Jimenez and Tomlin worry me the most when they take the mound; Jimenez for his lack of command and his inconsistent velocity, and Tomlin for his BP fastball and his lack of an out pitch.

Parting shot - Kotchman is struggling while LaPorta is mashing at AAA with an OPS (On Base % + Slugging %) over 1.1. With our lack of RH pop, how long before we see LaPorta back in the bigs?

Its just that we desperately need some RH pop in this line-up. I keep hoping the light comes on for LaPorta, since he was the centerpiece in the Sabathia trade.

Tough loss for the Tribe tonight. Down 2-0 till fighting back to tie it up in the 8th ...... then they lose it on a 3 run bomb in the 11th.

I'd call it a good loss. I didn't get a chance to watch as I went to Kennywood for the day. Was disappointed to see them lose 5-2 but was happy to see it happened in extras. This team has some fire which it needed desperately in years past.

Here's to hoping they win the series today.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians, as expected, will send an all-lefty lineup against Texas rookie right-hander Yu Darvish on Sunday afternoon at Progressive Field. It is the finale of a three-game series between first-place clubs.

Darvish, who enjoys rock-star status in his native Japan, is 4-0 with a 2.18 ERA in five starts. But those numbers are a bit misleading: He owns a 0.98 ERA in his past four starts (27 1/3 innings, three earned runs).

Lefties are hitting .263 in 80 at-bats against Darvish and his assortment of nasty pitches; righties, .196 in 46 at-bats.

Darvish opposes a pitcher going in the opposite direction. Indians right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez is 2-2 with a 5.02 ERA and coming off a rough outing in Chicago.

The Indians need to get the middle of their order going. Cleanup man Travis Hafner and Carlos Santana have been struggling and Shin-Soo Choo is hitting .211.

Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus, batting second in manager Ron Washington's lineup, has a least one hit in all 25 games he has played against the Indians.

Took 2-of-3 against the Dodgers (1st NL West)
Took 2-of-3 against the White Sox (3rd AL Central - though they could be 2nd after today's game)
Took 2-of-3 against the Rangers (1st AL West)

Not bad for a team that is supposed to be terrible.

...and where are all those Ubaldo bashers today? Here's what he did against the wicked tough Rangers lineup (and pitching with the added pressure of being the rubber game of the series + knowing Darvish, a 4-0 phenom, is going against him):

Ha ha ha ha....sorry. The Angels. I saw "LA" on the schedule and thought Dodgers. That pesky interleague play has my head spinning (next year we'll have an interleague series going on every day with Houston joining the AL West).

Even then, the Angels lineup on paper is very good.

I saw an odd stat a few days ago. Ervin Santana (0-6), who won 17 & 11 the past two seasons, set a record this past week (well, his team did). They were shutout in his last 5 starts. Talk about no run support.

You know what else I love?

The pitching/defense really picked up in this series. Holding the Rangers to 3, 5 and 2 runs in a series is no small accomplishment. The hitting seems like its getting there, but still has a ways to go.

With Mo out, they just might implode. Tampa isn't going away, the Red Sox will get it back together and I'm hoping the O's keep playing well.

An O's fan at work asked me if I'd be ok re-playing the 1997 ALCS this Sept/Oct. Sign me up! You think MLB would be upset with the Indians and O's in the ALCS? Ha ha ha...

And IF he brought it every time out then he would be an ace. He doesn't and he's not. Today was a great outing, no two ways about it. Which goes back to my points about him earlier in the thread. His talent is not the problem. It's his consistency. You want to point out that today he shut down a powerhouse. I point out that the start before it took him 92 or so pitches to get a swing and miss. That's just as pathetic as today's outing was awesome. One game means very little in the grand scheme of things.

C.C. was terribly inconsistent for us. Maybe it's the same story with Ubaldo?

Good win for the Tribe, taking 2 of 3 from those guys is always tough. Everyone in the AL is so bunched together right now.

I still think the biggest thing is just playing in-division. Maybe that's not the case with this new WC system, but they gotta stay on the White Sox who have been a thorn in their side the last 2 seasons (seems like almost every year since they won in 2005) and the Tigers.

Hopefully they can feast on what looks to be a horrible Twins team, and continue to kill the Royals.
