Nice to see them stringing together some hits. Big double from Duncan to put the Tribe back on top with 1 out and runners on 2nd and 3rd.

I thought that Flowers deep shot was going to be fair......and he hit the freaking Home Run Porch sign in left!!! Good for us it was 3-4 feet to the left of the pole. And of course, once you miss something that close, the AB is destined to be a failure. Nice DH sweep!

I know it probably won't happen because he's just not built that way but honestly, if Tomlin threw in the high 90's, nobody would ever hit him.

This just might be Jay Bruce's year with the start he's off to. Fine job by the front office signing him to that 6 year 51 milli. contract. What a bargain that just may prove to be.

TEAM W L GB RS RA Cleveland 17 11 - 128 124 Detroit 14 14 3 117 121 Chicago Sox 13 17 5 116 118 Kansas City 9 19 8 109 144 Minnesota 7 21 10 95 159
A couple interesting things that I noticed: • We are the only team in the division with a + run differential • We've outscored the Tigers by 11 runs • We've given up more runs then I had thought • Didn't realize just how bad Minny is. Yikes.

Minnesota's record is an illusion. They are actually in first place. Why? They've spent so much money to keep their stars..... that ALWAYS translate into success.

Actually their payroll is only about $15 million more than the Indians.. and they are in 3rd place, well behind Detroit and Chicago.... and its still early May, we will see what is reality and what is illusion in the MLB as the season goes on...

I hope that Bruce and Brandon pan out for you. I don't have as high hopes for Votto's contract, but we'll see. It'd be nice to see you guys slay that Cardinal dragon of yours.

I am fairly confident that Minnesota being terrible is not an illusion.
For whatever reason, that pipeline of pitching prospects ran dry and they never had a planB on it. No pitching = Royals/Twins.

They aren't in 3rd place...more like a distant 5th place. And 10 games back on May 8th.
I remember the Twins fans gloating about the signing of Morneau and Mauer and now look at the production they've got for the ~40 million they're paying them per year:
Mauer - played 109 of 189 games, .280 avg, 4 homers & 45 RBIs (not to mention all the crap about him not wanting to play 1st or DH). Morneau - played 89 of 189 games, .229 avg, 8 homers & 39 RBIs.
That is a disaster.

I find it stunning that Mauer would refuse to play 1st or DH. The guy signed a $180 million deal, and is a native of Minnesota. That seems pretty disrespectful to the team and fans of the Twins. Oh well ... they only have him through 2018, so it's not like they put a lot of money and years into a guy who doesn't want to really help the team ......... Oh, and he has a no-trade clause so there won't be any distractions late in his career ..........

Yeah usually you see the guy pull that before getting his $$$ a la Alfonso Soriano thinking he was actually a 2B and then taking the Cubs to the cleaners... Hitting 30+ bombs as a 2B looks a lot better than doing it as a RF.

Look at walks. We are first. Probably a big part of our OBP given our so-so team batting average.

Aside from Kotchman, everyone is over .300 (Brantley is at .299 but it's obvious he still has to get it in gear)
I honestly hope they can find a replacement for CK. He'd be great off the bench for a defensive replacement for save situations.
I think it'd make everyone in that lineup that much better. Couple that with this pitching maybe getting better and maybe you have something.

At least we didn't have to burn up the bullpen in yesterday's double header.

Man ... what a freakin' battle by Duncan! He's up to 14 or 15 pitches in this at bat.

good call.
Shelly Duncan with 14 pitch at bat that anticlimatically ends in a pop up. I don't know if I should be glad he worked a 14 pitch at bat or upset that with 11 pitches in the strike zone he couldn't get a hit.
