I have never seen a physical specimen like Lebron James. He's unbelievably talented and skilled
But he does not have the heart or mental toughness to win it all

I've never seen a professional athlete of his caliber so afraid of the big moment.
I mean it's shockingly visible on the court. You can actually see him shrinking.
Reminds me of UFC Brock Lesnar ....incredible athlete, imposing figure ...but punch him in the mouth and he's done. No fight when there is any adversity at all.
LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

I haven't seen a full game of his (LBJ) in a minute; is he still biting his fingernails?

I turned down overtime at work so I could watch Game 6.

everyone needs to sit back and think about how the Celtics barely survived the 8th seeded 76ers who only won in round1 because Rose & Noah were injured. and then they can start laughing (it ain't over yet, but dang there's no excuse Miami has for losing that game. that's just sad --- and funny)

At first I thought, had Boston won game 2, then Miami would of won game 3, because the only time Miami shows anything is when they are backed against the wall, just like when Indy had them 2-1.
So two separate thoughts, had Boston won game 2, would this series be over? How hilarious would Miami losing in 5 be?
And secondly, Miami's back is officially against the wall, unless LeBron wants to be known as the ultimate choke artist, he needs to not just come out and put up 30-12-7 or whatever, he needs to grab the game by the ball(s) and take control...
And it has to happen in the 4th quarter.

I think I said it during the Indy series, they're just not that good.
I found it funny hearing some of the espn personalities now finally saying the supporting cast sucks. Hi, welcome to last year!
If this thing goes down, which it's looking that way, it's gonna have to get broken up. The way the CBA is set up, and the way those 3's contracts are set up, they just don't have room to get better, and it's not like they have draft picks to do it the old fashioned way. They're screwed. The only thing they do is can bank on is other teams getting worse, and we know that's not happening.
I'm not saying the Cavs are title contenders, but the Dan Gilbert letter looks pretty interesting right now.

other teams will get worse. OKC is going to have a really tough time keeping that corps together as guys mature into big contracts and off their smaller deals.
but, while those teams get worse, others (through drafting or trading or FAs) will get better.
the funny thing is that all 3 of these guys are in the last guaranteed year of their contracts, so they have very limited trade value (as they can just up and leave as they have shown the willingness to do already)

anyone else laugh when JVG started counting how long it took Wade to stop arguing with the refs and get back on defense?

I would love to see Elias do a study of how many points over the course of a season or a series the Heat lose to do complaining to the refs and gloating after dunks and crazy shots.

Why? The NBA is set up so that it's pretty easy for teams to retain their current players, even if it's at a higher cost.

the luxury tax requirements are much stricter than they have ever been in the past with cascading penalties for repeat payers. I do not believe a team like OKC will be able to dip their foot into it every year like the Cavs did. even the Lakers are looking at trying to avoid the luxury tax.

Then what was the whole point of the league fighting so it was EASIER for teams to KEEP their stars?
A team like OKC, if they keep the 3 guys, is going to be good, is going to sellout, is going to make money...
Not a problem.
It's the difference between OKC/Boston and Miami...
Miami got 3 really good to great players, and put them on a team...
Boston got 3 good/great players, that COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER, and won a title, contended for another, and IMO had Garnett not hurt his knee, probably contended for another (and that doesn't even count this year)
And I think OKC is more like Boston than Miami, they are a team, hence they are successful, and they are only getting better...

you can keep your stars, but you cannot keep your stars and your supporting cast. or, if you have too many stars, you cannot keep all of them. from that link Quote:
The amount of tax a team pays depends on the season, the team salary as of the team's last regular season game, and whether the team is a "repeat offender":
•For 2011-12 and 2012-13, teams pay $1 for every $1 their team salary exceeds the tax level. There is no repeater rate. •For 2013-14 teams pay an incremental rate based on their team salary. There is no repeater rate. •For 2014-15 teams pay an incremental rate based on their team salary. They pay the repeater rate if they also were taxpayers in all of the previous three seasons. •For 2015-16 and all subsequent seasons, teams pay an incremental rate based on their team salary. They pay the repeater rate if they were taxpayers in at least three of the four previous seasons.
the repeater rate starts at $2.5 for every $1 spent up to $5mil. When you get over $20mil over the luxury threshold, you pay $4.75+ $0.50 for every additional $5mil over.
*edit* see below for math on $30mil bill as I had read it wrong initially and it's a progressive bill.

be careful of your math. It is a progessive tax. Quote:
• 2005 CBA: Teams paid $1 for every $1 their salary was above the luxury-tax threshold.
• 2011 CBA: Teams pay $1 for every $1 their salary is above the luxury-tax threshold in 2011-12 and 2012-13. Starting in 2012-13, teams pay an incremental tax that increases with every $5 million above the tax threshold ($1.50, $1.75, $2.50, $3.25, etc.). Teams that are repeat offenders (paying tax at least four out of the past five seasons) have a tax that is higher still -- $1 more at each increment ($2.50, $2.75, $3.50, $4.25, etc.).
• Who benefits? I'll tell you which teams don't benefit -- the perennial taxpayers, like the Lakers and Mavericks. When the league was unable to negotiate a hard cap, they settled for the next best thing -- a more punitive luxury tax that will make teams think twice before committing to a higher payroll. For example, the Lakers' tax bill in 2011 (when the tax was dollar-for-dollar) was about $19.9 million. Under the new system, being that far over the tax line would cost them $44.68 million. If they were a repeat offender (paying tax at least four of the previous five years) they would owe $64.58 million!

whoops. misread that. yes, they pay the amount on each level.
Ok, for each level:
$12.5mil (upto $5mil) + $13.75 ($5-$10mil) + $17.5 ($10-15mil) + $21.25 ($15-20mil) + $23.75 ($20-25mil) + $26.25 ($25-30mil)
Total for $30mil over luxury (repeat offender) = $115mil If luxury tax set at $70 mil, then payroll would have been $100mil and total after luxury tax = $215mil

Lebron is physically and mentally broken down.
I don't know how he's going to perform in game 6. He could have a complete meltdown in the 4th.

What a bunch of cowards!
I read that both Wade and James didn't go to the podium ..... but instead they sent Bosh, who not only played only 14 minutes, but also had a death in his house?

Yeah, I know. Cowardly. Face the music.
LeBron just doesn't have it mentally.
Cowherd, a huge LeBron supporter, completely went off on him this morning and what he said was spot on. Regardless of the stat line, he did not impact the game. Called his stat line LeFraud.

Bosh is the only dude with balls out of those 3. I remember him doing interviews after the finals while Wade and Lebron had to sit together.

The weird part, is originally they all did post game Interviews as a 3 some...
Then, eventually Bosh was segregated...
I wonder how long till they do them solo...

I remember thinking the same thing.
For as much grief Bosh took for not being as good as the other two, he was the only one man enough to face the music. Also, I think the duo press conference thing is really weak.
LeBron has never had any mental fortitude. Maybe it's due to being coddled his whole life.

If they lose tomorrow or even Saturday, I can't wait to read what some of these writers are going to say in the morning. I wonder if Windy will unleash 2 built up years of stuff?
Wojnarowski is going to hammer him. LeBatard is going to unload, Vecsey, Bianchi, Sam Smith, etc..
Get your popcorn ready if you're into that stuff.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2012/wr...9&eref=sihpAmick saying the Cavs are targeting Harrison Barnes at #4. Of course, it's also mentioned how much the Kings want him too (because he's a quiet leader who could help change their culture). Could be posturing (and if Beal falls to them, they'd have a glut at SG and could end up trading with us anyway if we take Barnes. interesting).

Not if his comments on KNR today are an indication. I'm sure you heard them. Pointed fingers at Wade, Spoelstra and the supporting cast. Said Lebron wasn't brought to Miami to carry the load and score 30+ like he's being asked to do right now. Played the "but he's averaging 30 points a game" card. Basically just a steady stream of excuses and apologies.

yeah, not sure why anyone would think BW wouldn't have LeBron's back.
He intimated that he had more inside info when LeBron jumped and leaked the Pat Riley meeting in December of that year to make sure that they knew he meant business.
Since then, he got his plush job in Miami and has basically served as LeBron's mouthpiece (stories about coming back to Cleveland, that he woudn't have left if it wasn't for Mike Brown, etc.).
BW has lost all credibility to me.

Pretty much. He burns the LBJ bridge and he's out of work. Them's the breaks when your career is beholden to a single person.

he's also given his fair amount of criticism. I think the guy does a good job with it.
As far as what he said about Lebron, I can't agree with it. The stats look good, but he's just not doing anything in crunch time.
If he were a machine in the 4th quarter to the point where Boston had to send 3 guys at him, and the rest of the team wasn't picking up the slack? Ok, but that's not the case. He's just disappearing. He's missing easy buckets that a bench player is capable of making, and he's not great on defense right now. Yes he had his hand in Pierce's face on that big 3, but he gave Pierce way too much room to start his shot.
I can't believe Stephen A. Smith actually said the old Cavs with LBJ are better than this Heat team. Not that it isn't believable, but that guy railed on our teams for YEARS. He wanted LBJ out of Cleveland and onto his Knicks. He said for years that Lebron was going to leave, after his rookie season he said his people were trying to get him out early, when he bided his time during that extension in 2006 he said he wouldn't sign, and then he took all the credit when the wolf actually showed up.

I was really annoyed during the Clips/Grizzlies series when Mo Williams was coming in off the bench and making shot after shot...

i thought BW did a good job with it when he was here. in Miami, he has lost it. whether it's his employers telling him to do it or some agreement to get extra "access" in the background, I do not know. but, I have noticed a shift.

His criticism is just observational. He doesn't really say much of anything that someone who watches the games doesn't see.
As for the Cavs teams being better, well they certainly weren't any worse. They won more games by more points and made about as much noise in the playoffs.
It's funny, the argument used to be "why would Lebron stay with those stiffs in Cleveland when he could team up with Dwyane Wade and win multiple championships in Miami?" and it has devolved to "why would he stay in Cleveland when he could go play with his friends?".

The LeBron lovers will point out the fact that he had 30 last night, but here's what I saw ....
In the final 8 minutes of a pivotal Game 5, LeBron attempted 2 shots, scoring 2 points.
I kind of forget he was even on the team.

I don't care what anyone says about KD vs LBJ but Kevin Durant looks hungry for a title and Lebron looks scared to lose.
