I really suspect that one of Lerner's conditions was related to ticket prices.
Lerner really did try to keep ticket prices down so that fans can afford to go to games without taking out a second mortgage. I suspect that he wants that to continue, and made that part of the deal.
I think he something about there were 4 conditions that Randy wanted before selling the team? We know 1 was not moving them but the other 3 he said were going to remain silent. We can rule out naming rights because he has mentioned that will probably happen so I too can see ticket prices as something that was discussed. Speculation of course but there are only so many conditions that could be directly dependent on selling the team.
Another I could see if keeping the practices in Berea and not moving them to Colubmus or something like that. We'll never know though for sure unless Randy actually says them which I dont see happening.
Man would I love to know what the other conditiions were. there are just so many possibilities.
Anyone think one of them is the AL patch? I do...

I think we know 2 of them. 1. Dont move the team. 2. Dont discuss our negotiations.
So I think there are 2 we may never know.

No doubt the stadium gets a sponsor. I always thought it foolish it hasn't been named. That's big time money for the team and good exposure for some local company.
How about Sherwin Williams?? They are a global outfit headquartered in Cleveland.
What if Nestle` had the naming rights...They have Purina..Which has Purina Dog Chow...
Could call the Stadium..." Dawg Chow Field "... pretty bad I know...

This was supposed to be the last year of Al patch. Link The most noticeable change to the Browns uniforms will not happen until the 2013 season. That will be the removal of the “AL” patch on the sleeves which has adorned the team’s uniforms since the death of the expansion Browns’ original owner, the late Al Lerner in October of 2002
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

I wouldn't be surprised if one of the conditions involved leaving Holmgren in place for the duration of his contract, maybe Heckert too. That kind of loyalty strikes me as the way the Lerner family rolls.

I was just wondering wasnt Kraft the one that was mentoring Randy? Perhaps with his invite to Haslam he will give him some advice that leaving the current FO alone is a good idea? Not sure they probably will talk $ mostly which I dont think Randy was ever really all that concerned about. IMHO.
As a condition of the sale I dont see keeping people in the building as a part of that though.

I doubt that Lerner would do anything like that. I think that he thinks in bigger "fan related" terms ..... like no moving the team, no raising ticket prices for a certain amount of time, and other fan concerns.

The other side of that is, if I'm dropping $700 million today, and another $300 million in 4 years - If I'm paying 1 billion dollars for a team...........I'm gonna want to do what I want with the team. I'm not gonna let the old owner dictate what moves and decisions I can or cannot make.
I completely understand the "can't move the team" thing - but there's a limit to that also.
Think of it as you buying a house. Now, you have plenty of money - and a house comes up for sale. You may agree with the seller that you can't turn the house into motel.........okay. But if the previous owner starts saying "and you can't paint the house, and the decorative clock on this wall has to stay, ", etc..........you might say "screw it".
Haslam is a business owner - and obviously he bought the browns, so whatever was in the contract is something he agreed to - but I can almost guarantee aside from the "can't move the team for X years", nothing else is big.
My guess is it would be something along the lines of "the browns donated X amount of money to cleveland charities each year, and we ask that you do the same for the next 2, or 5, or 10 years", things like that.

If anything I personally think you are on the right track there. One of the reasons why is Haslam saying he was going to mingle in the stands with the fans for the wed stadium practice and perhaps (although I dont see it happening, to many security issues) sit there for the preseason game.
If as you think Randy made some terms fan related, Im sure he would be curious as to why and wants to get a close up feel for them. Then again when you have 3K plus showing up for practice its not hard to see the devotion we all have to this team.

actually I dont think any of the 4 things were in the final sales contract but are all a gentlemans agreement/handshake type thing. I could be wrong but if they are in the final sales contract we will find them out. I think it was more of a :Ok I will talk to you about the sale of the team if you agree to 1- never move the team 2-?? 3?? 4?? Ok I can agree with those terms lets talk money.

You make a good point, but the browns aren't a house. You can choose a different house, or build your own.
There was only one NFL team for sale. Randy could easily have put down a few rules. Don't like it? I'm not selling.
Flip it around the other way...
You had a chance to buy the Cleveland Browns but you wouldn't agree to leave the helmet alone, or not move the team?
We have a good stadium, and a lease for years so moving isn't even really an option anyway.
Attitude is everything....FEAR THE ELF!!!

Correct.
As for the lease on the stadium - I'm still a bit concerned about that.
Let's face it, if a guy can pay 1 billion for a team, he certainly can pay 100 million, or 300 million, to buy out a lease on a stadium. Especially when l.a. would probably gladly pay the owner back, and then some.
I, and we, don't know how long Haslam can't move the team for.........but in the back of my mind, I still worry about it. (just like dad told son you can't sell the team for 10 years.......10 years went by, and bam, the team was sold.)

I don't think so, I believe the AL patch was only supposed to last 10 years.. so this would be the last year anyway.

I agree while I dont see it happening, it is a concern in the far back reaches of my mind because well I would have never thought the Browns would ever move the 1st time they moved.
