I was looking on ESPN and it says we signed this guy: Ryan Kruase....Did I miss this already? I didn't see a thread but here is what I saw:
Quote:

Eric Steinbach OG UFA 6-6 290 4 Bengals Browns 81
Robaire Smith DE UFA 6-4 328 7 Titans Browns 67
Jamal Lewis RB Released 5-11 245 7 Ravens Browns 64
Kenny Wright CB UFA 6-1 207 8 Redskins Browns 58
Seth McKinney C Released 6-3 310 5 Dolphins Browns 57
Antwan Peek DE UFA 6-3 250 4 Texans Browns 57
Shaun Smith DT RFA 6-2 315 3 Bengals Browns 53
Ryan Krause TE Released 6-3 256 3 Chargers Browns 45 Expert's Take

http://sports-ak.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=cle

Here is what I could find on him..
Grade: 60
Comment:
Krause is athletic, runs well and has some pass-catching potential. He has good initial quickness off the line and into stems. He has good play speed, setup and route-running ability. He can separate at break points at the top of stems. He flashes good catching skills and was a very productive receiver in college. As a run blocker, he plays with pretty good control when adjusting on the second level off combination patterns. But Krause doesn't offer much in the run game and is coming off a season-ending foot injury. He isn't a powerful or explosive run blocker. He struggles to set the edge and sustain. He lacks good lower-body strength as a drive blocker. He doesn't always maintain position on the second level

Did I miss something? if so could you direct me to that thread cause I have no idea who this guy is....

That's what I am saying...On the site it has something about him being released but I can't find anything about picking him up. I mean Chud was a TE coach and the guy is a TE from the Chargers so it makes sense....but still it's werid..

I'm glad we are getting a TE now rather than trying to get one during training camp when its announced that that punk K2 isn't able to play anymore.

That "punk K2" is of the few bright spots we have on this team.

He's horrible. Biggest bust ever---a TE with the 3rd pick overall.

Athletic TE's are a dime a dozen--there's one on nearly ever team. K2=nothing special.

he was actually the 6th pick and its hard to say he's a bust when he holds the record for receptions by a TE over a hall of famer in Cleveland in his first full season.

Punk or not, he's the best and most consistent player on the Browns offense.

Also, athletic TE's may be a dime a dozen but thats like saying big lineman are a dime a dozen. However... game changing tight ends AREN'T a dime a dozen buddy.

K2 didn't change sqat. Big deal, he had a bunch of dink and dunk 5 yard receptions. How many points did he score? Definitely not enough to be "game-changing."

Just give it up--he's horrible. Most overrated player ever.

You know, except for the fact that we actually had a play maker who was catching the ball...

Actually he averaged about 10 yds/catch

He was also the 3rd leading scorer on the team (if you don't count the kicker...)

Put down the joint, man. Any respect for your posts that I had left, is now gone. Overrated? How can you be overrated when you are in the top 3 in ever major category for a TE, and you don't even make the pro-bowl?

He'll never hit his "prime." He's what, 25, and has the knee of a 35 year old. He's got maybe two years left in the league.

Flash in the pan.

I'm definitely a browns fan---but definitely not a fan of that no talent chucklehead K2.

Back when we picked him I said it was a horrible pick and here we are 4 years later and I'm still right.

Yeah, the only bright spot on our offense, is a horrible pick Guess we should have taken Roy Williams instead, because we all know how close his teams are to putting up 40 points a game.

Derden, your thoughts are unwarranted and ignorant. You're entitled to your opinion but they tend to go a lot further when you can back up what you say with facts or stats or some shred of logic. But you provide none of that. Just slanderous garbage. If you want to be a troll, go back under the bridge.

So anyway, about this Krause guy?

Gotta completely dissagree with you man. Your talking about our only good offensive weapon. I would say if he never got injured he'd probably be the best TE in the league. An athletic TE like Winslow is not a dime a dozen either and Winslow is probably the only guy on our offense that defenses factor into. Hopefully he'll be able to become more of a vertical threat this year after his surgery, but i think that it's pretty lame that you're calling out or only offensive player that would be the number 1 guy at his position on almost any team in the NFL. (besides may be the Giants, Balt, SD, and KC).

With an improved offense next year hopefully Winslow will have more TDs and more yards.

Fact is your entitled to your opinion, but i've got mine. And now when i read your posts i will remember that you think one of the only good players that we have sucks. Keeping that in mind i'll just skip over what you type generally.

jc...

If you can see past the exaggeration of his posts, there is a small amount of merit to what Derden is saying. And it is small.

The 6th pick was not too high for the Winslow that came out of college. But for the Winslow we have now, maybe it was. Time will tell. But you could not have foreseen what was going to happen. So without qualifying his statements as such, you just can't say it was a bad pick.

Overrated? I guess again you'd have to qualify that by saying overrated compared to what. Compared to the guy we thought we were getting who would change the TE position? Ok, maybe he's right. But overrated in a general sense? That doesn't make any sense.

It's obvious Derden doesn't like Winslow - maybe because he was mean to him when he approached him for an autograph. But there is a tiny bit of merit to what he is saying, he's just not saying it in a manner that you could tell.

He's acting the way he is to get a rise out of everyone although that may be the way he actually feels. But if you've read him long enough on here, you'd know that was his MO.

LOL - The Rish will be upset with this news as well. KS just doesn't prioritize winning...

Prospect Profiles
Ryan Krause
Position: Wide Receiver/H-Back
College: Nebraska-Omaha
Height: 6-2
Weight: 244
Hometown: Omaha, Neb.

Analysis | Agility | High School | Personal
OVERVIEW
Physical receiver whose size could see him shift to H-Back at the pro level … His arrival on campus as a freshman caused the team to rededicate itself from a run-oriented offense into one that highlighted Krause's skills … The four-year starter was a three-sport star during his prep days, also excelling in baseball and basketball … His outstanding blocking skills for the Mavericks' ground game saw him rank among the team leaders in knockdown blocks every season … Started 41 of 42 games during his career, catching 151 passes for 2,566 yards (17.0 avg.) and 22 touchdowns … Only Dan Fulton (152 for 2,739 yards, 1975-77) had more receptions and yards receiving in school annals.

ANALYSIS

Positives: Has rare size for a receiver, with an athletic physique, tight waist and hips, strong thighs and calves and developing muscle tone in the upper body … Shows quickness in and out of his cuts … Power receiver who uses his size and strength to power through the jam, showing good hand usage to chuck defenders out of the way to escape … Has good change-of-direction agility and shows effective stutter-step moves to elude … Has good straight-line speed for the bubble screen, hitches and post routes … Does a nice job of adjusting his routes when he sees the quarterback in trouble … Will push off and out-muscle defensive backs to get open … Big target who gets open in time for the quarterback to get the ball to him … Natural catcher with above-average hand/eye coordination, showing toughness and courage going for the ball in traffic … Will lay out and sacrifice himself to make the catch and is very smooth making the over-the-shoulder grabs … Can run, adjust and contort his body to get over the defender in attempts to reach the high tosses … May not have blazing speed, but his size, strength and leg drive makes it very difficult to bring him down in one-on-one situations … Has a very aggressive streak and good hand technique as a blocker … Effective cut blocker who will go for the "jugular" on his hits.

Negatives: Needs to build up steam in order to get to top speed … Not a real polished route runner, as he does not make sharp cuts (takes more of a soft angle) … Has to rely on his strength in order to gain separation (no foot speed or explosive burst) … Does a marginal job of recognizing zone coverages (will run right into the heart of the defense, at times, relying more on his power to break free).

AGILITY TESTS
4.64 in the 40-yard dash … 350-pound bench press … 479-pound squat … 374-pound hang clean … 34¾-inch vertical jump … 9-foot-11 broad jump … 4.17 20-yard shuttle … 6.79 three-cone drill … 31 3/8-inch arm length … 9-inch hands … Right-handed … Wears contacts.

HIGH SCHOOL
Attended Millard (Omaha, Neb.) South High, playing football for coach Marty Going … Also lettered in baseball (.427 batting average) and basketball … Earned all-metro honors in all three sports.

PERSONAL
Communications major … Serves as an umpire in a youth baseball league during the summer … Son of Mike and Denise Krause … Born June 16, 1981 … Resides in Oma
ha, Nebraska.

You should be banned for posting such an idiotic post... glad some more knowledge fans posted... but I had to add my 2 cents.

I HATED the KW2 pick... I didn't want anything to do with him with his attitude... after this last year he can easily be called the best pick up that we've gotten since our return... the only other player on our team with his star quality is Wimbley.... I'm VERY happy that I was wrong about him... sad to see him have to be out two years, but I think he's on the right track. He was easily one of the top 5 TEs last year.

Word on the dirt streets is last year while with San Diego, Ryan ran accross the street every morning for Chud to get him a Capachino and a Apple Fridder, so part of the deal bringing Chud to Cleveland was also we had to sign and bring Ryan "Apple Fridder" Krause. we tried to sneak him onto the signing list with no hype, but the word is out.

K2 wouldn't start in NY, ATL, SD, SF, AZ, DAL, BAL, KC, just to name a few. This whole reception record thing is ludicrous. You win games by putting points on the board. Soldier boy only scored 3 touchdowns all season. Alge Crumpler put up 3 TD's in ONE GAME for god sakes. Actually, K2 has scored 21 points in his entire career---yea, those are some studly numbers.

I understand that being browns fans its hard to admit how horrible this kid is---but seriously---how can you not see this.

The kid is a bust--his career will be over within two years.
