Besides everyone agreeing that the Browns are going to go 19-0 and win the Super Bowl every year...
Who does everyone think is going to be in this years Super Bowl?
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

Man ... there are a lot of flawed teams in the NFC. I never really thought about it all that much until I saw the teams listed out.
Dallas: Injuries and questions about the commitment of certain players. Philly: Talented, but didn't play like it last year. Skins: Rebuilding around RG3 Giants: Probably one of the 2 real contenders in the NFC. Chicago: How do they do running the ball, and how do their injured players do returning to duty? Detroit: Great offense .... questions on defense, despite great talent on the DL. Green Bay: The other truly serious contender. Minnesota: Well, they have Peterson .... returning from knee surgery ..... Tampa Bay: Questions abound. New Orleans: How do they do without their coaches? Atlanta: Can they win a playoff game? Just 1? Carolina: Their defense was awful last year. Will it improve enough to let them contend? San Francisco: Can they recapture the perfect storm of a season ago? I don't think so. Seattle: ... is Seattle. St Louis: .... is St Louis Arizona: Looks to improve, but QB questions remain.
When compared to the AFC, which has legitimate contenders in Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Houston, New England, Denver, and maybe even a dark horse in Buffalo, the NFC looks kinda weak by comparison.

I don't get the Bears pick.
They have a decent, though not overwhelming defense, a crappy OL, and did little to improve themselves in the draft. They got a solid pass rusher who looks like he will be lacking against the run, and who is switching from OLB to DE ...... and a WR who has battled his weight, and who has questions about his speed and ability to separate.
Their QB and RB are coming off season ending injuries, and they just lost one of their starting DE. Urlacher has been out with knee surgery. Matt Forte is going to have to be almost a full time blocker when the Bears pass, because their OL is just that bad. That could effectively remove him from the passing game.
I look at them and I see a team that plays in the same division as Green Bay and the Lions, and that has a good chance of having a losing record in their own division. They finish the year @ Minnesota, Green Bay at home, then @ Arizona and @ Detroit. They could well go 1-3 in those 4 games to cos them any chance of a playoff berth.
I really could see them starting off the year at 4-1 .... with teams like Indy, Jacksonville, St Louis and Dallas on their early schedule, (along with Green Bay rounding out their opening 5 game stretch of the season) but could see them finishing up 8-8 or 9-7, and missing the playoffs.

I know the Falcons are sort of a whipping boy team around here, but I picked them over the Texans (who admittedly need to keep Schaub healthy and that makes me quite nervous).
Honestly, I'm not buying the hype about them opening up their offense to gear more to a long-range passing game. I think they will continue to move the ball and take shots when they are there downfield. Just looking at their team, they seem to be the most complete in the NFC (I don't trust SF, NYG were pretty ordinary until the playoffs, the Packers gamble too much on defense though they are definitely the favorites, etc.)

Cutler is an elite QB. He's one of the toughest sonofaguns at QB in the league. They get Carimi back, who was out (IIRC) most of the season last year. Last year their leading receivers were Johnny Knox and Roy Williams. This year Knox is their 4th receiver behind Brandon Marshall (one of the unstoppable forces in the NFL) and Alshon Jeffrey (who should excel as a #2 wideout in a downfield passing game.) Devin Hester can play out of the slot now, and Knox and Sanzenbacher (or Earl Bennett) offer 4th and 5th WR options.
The idea that Matt Forte is going to have to be a full-time blocker is without merit. Their OL has been crappy since Cutler got there, yet Forte has been >40% of their offense just about every game he's played in.
Oh yeah, and they still have Julius Peppers, Brian Urlacher, Lance Briggs, and Charles Tillman and add Shea McLellin. Overall their secondary is below average, but they still have a formidable front-7.

If they start 4-1, they will go 13-3 or 12-4 barring a serious injury to Cutler.

Seems like a chalk pick, but Green Bay/New England looks good.
Green Bay had that unbelievable season last year, I think they rode too high all year. Their defense never had to win any games. I think Green Bay will try and rely on them a little more, maybe they play conservative at times to try and involve the defense a little more? I just think this is a bounce back year for them. They're still pretty young at a lot of positions, Aaron Rodgers seems hungry, and I think the defense should have a chip on their shoulder with all the criticism thrown their way.
Like someone said, everyone else has issues, although the Giants are somehow flying into this season under the radar. They're a NY team, and they're the champs and yet their coverage is minimal. In their division it's all about the Cowboys, RG3 and the Skins, and the "Dream Team/Dynasty" Eagles. Oh and the team that shares the same venue as them who hasn't done anything since the first Woodstock gets more coverage than any other team short of the Miami Heat. I respect those guys because they seem to shove it back in everyone's face because they don't get the pub that they probably deserve.
As far as New England goes... We'll know in the first 4 or 5 weeks if this team is capable of getting back. Their draft says one thing: we gotta stop people. They went defense heavy. If they get 2 good starters this year out of that class they are a frightening team.
NFL Super Bowl picks are obviously so hard to predict. Who really knows.

Anyways.
Two teams that made the Conference title games last year (and would have won had it not been for a drop and fumble) seem to be pushed to the side.
I think the Harbaugh Bowl happens this year.

Same
Chicago was a contender at 7-3 last year before Forte and Cutlers injuries ruined that. I expect the front 7 to play at a high caliber. I like the weapons they've added on offense.

The Browns currently have 150:1 odds and the Rams have 100:1 to win the Super Bowl. See if you can parlay a bet and rake in all the money on the most unlikely Super Bowl ever. I just ask for a 10% commission.

The Texans have lost offensive Right Guard Eric Winston to the Chiefs during the offseason. I conclude the Texans offense will take a large step backwards.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

If schaub, johnson, and foster stay healthy this year I think they'll be alright...
they did end up playing with their third string QB for a lot of last season...
I agree losing Winston is a big loss... but they have a lot of experience on their line... unfortunately the right side is the weaker side in terms of experience.

winston started at RT. and he was playing hurt last year. and he was in a tough battle just to get a starting spot with KC this pre-season.
i don't think eric winston is the lynchpin for either team.

Get it yet? They have the second-best record in the NFL, a defense that has 25 sacks and 7 TDs (plus blocked punt for TD) and the best point differential in the NFL (+117). We could be seeing a super bowl preview this coming week.

Oh, their defense has made a believer of me.
Opposing teams have thrown 7 TD passes, and they have scored on 7 pick six interception returns.
That's scary good.
I'm convinced.

I still don't think their OL & Cutler can get through a possibility of facing NYG, SF, and GB in 3 consecutive weeks.
At some point, their OL is going to kill their season IMO.

FWIW, any of those teams would have to likely beat them at Soldier Field. Right now, Chicago hosts everybody but Atlanta.

that is true. a huge matchup vs. SF is up in 2 weeks. could end up deciding the 2nd bye week team in the NFC.
of course, Chicago has to focus on Houston first.
(Chicago has also lost to GB already, so despite a 2 game lead in the standings, if they go 1-1 these next 2 weeks, then the GB game could be for the division. all else being equal, etc.)

bumping this thread up because I am interested to see if everyone who was picking the Bears feels the same way now.
they are 0-3 vs. teams they might see in the playoffs including getting blown out twice (GB, Hou, SF).
they are 1-0 vs. the Colts (who seem destined to make the playoffs, but would be absolutely shocking to see them make the SB)
they are 7-0 vs. non-playoff teams including some really impressive routes.
-------------------------
I still don't think they can get past all the good DLs in the NFC playoff picture with their OL, but do others still feel confident?
