Awkward convo between Seneca and shurmur coming up.

I think we should just cut lewis and if anyone wants colt they have to trade for him.

What has lewis shown to look better than McCoy?

He's just an average RB. At least a guy like Adonis Thomas gives us something on special teams and shows explosion.

Does anyone think the decision is between McCoy and Lewis? I always thought it was between McCoy and Wallace.

Not that it really matters, but I like to clean up loose ends.

Jeff Faine last played in Cleveland in 2005.

Haloti Ngata's first year in the NFL was in 2006.

He last played in Cleveland in 2005. But we traded up in that draft with the New Orleans Saints to get Jackson.

It was a draft day trade to move up........... I remember it very well, as i said. Demeco Ryans was picked one slot ahead of the slot we moved up to. Demeco Ryans went and I was like, "Damn, that's who I wanted. I sure hope we'll be able to get this D'Qwell Jackson guy." (At the time he was seen as very undersized for a LB but very productive and a sure tackler. Came from Maryland Univ.) And we traded Faine to move up for him. I forgot who was playing center after that one.

But yeah, Faine was traded on draft day. I'm pretty positive........

Wikipedia says he was traded during the draft...... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Faine , same thing with profootballweekly. Just google Jeff Faine Draft Day Trade.

So let me just clean up those loose ends of yours
-----------------------
As for constellation vs consolation. They're difficult words. An easy mistake, lol. Although Jackson is a star

I heard on ESPN radio that the Jets are looking for TE help. Anyone think Watson would have value to them maybe for a future draft pick. Seems like it might be good to move him and go with Cameron, Moore,King and Smelley while he still may hold value.

If they offer us a 4th or 5th Watson will be on the next plane. They won't offer that though.

I'd like to see us gather enough mid to late round picks to package together and get back into the second round next draft. That would be a start.Definately would move on a fourth.

If Tyler Clutts gets cut, i'd really like to pick him up. Smelly and Clutts are better options IMO than Marecic. I've always defended Maerecic or whatever his name is, but i've seen nothing from him this preseason. I just don't think he's got NFL talent.

He was a great story out of Stanford, and he's supposed to be a smart guy, but concussion issues mixed with better players...... I want Clutts and Smelly as our FBs. Smelly can be a TE too.

That guy Marcus Thomas out of the Giants isn't a bad player either......

I just can't see them letting Clutts go, but if they do, we need to be grabbing him ASAP.
Marecic, IMO, has never shown anything at all to warrant a roster spot. He tries, that much is readily apparent, but he just doesn't cut it.

Cut Norwood and pick up Gurley. He's 6' 4 and 225, just the type of receiver we have been wanting.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

PFT is saying that he's expected to be waived.

I'd love to have him. As someone said, it's tough to cut our guys to 54, but once that's done, there's definitely guys i'd like to replace.

On the O-Line, possibly WR, possibly RB, and other guys who just stand out.

Texans trade for Tyler Clutts

The Texans made a trade in advance of the cut-deadline, sending cornerback Sherrick McManis to the Bears for fullback Tyler Clutts, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

They’re keeping James Casey as their starter, but made the deal for the former CFL and Arena Leaguer.

McClain also reports they released veteran fullback Moran Norris to make room for the newcomer on the roster.

Tori Gurley waived by Packers

Posted by Josh Alper on August 31, 2012, 1:51 PM EDT

The Packers had something other teams wanted last season in wide receiver Tori Gurley.

Those admirers are going to finally get their shot at him. Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that Gurley will be waived when the Packers whittle down their roster on Friday. The news is a bit surprising since the team thought enough of Gurley to pay him extra last season to remain on their practice squad instead of jumping to another team’s active roster.

That was then, however, and now Gurley is going to be available to all 31 teams around the league on waivers. With Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, James Jones, Randall Cobb and Donald Driver on the roster, there was only going to be one wide receiver spot up for grabs. And that’s assuming the Packers will keep six wideouts, something they didn’t do last season. Should they decide to do it this time, it will likely be Jarrett Boykin or Diondre Borel who gets the gig.

Really surprised about Datko. the two Packers games I saw, he lined up as 2nd RT in one and 2nd LT in the next (week 1 and 2). didn't see them in week 3 or 4. I'd take him over Cousins in a heartbeat.

Browns release Seneca Wallace; reportedly interested in A.J. Feeley
Aug 31, 2012 -- 2:15pm
By Tony Grossi

The Browns have released quarterback Seneca Wallace and tight end Evan Moore, ESPN Cleveland has confirmed.

Wallace outplayed Colt McCoy in the final preseason game, but it wasn't enough to keep his roster spot. Wallace had said in June that he wouldn't be happy being the third quarterback in Cleveland, and perhaps that sentiment played a role in his release.

The move does not necessarily mean McCoy has won the No. 2 job behind starter Brandon Weeden.

There is a report out of Philadelphia that the Browns could be interesting in signing free agent former Eagles and Rams backup QB A.J. Feeley. Pat Shurmur coached Feeley in Philadelphia and St. Louis.

Moore co-led the team with four TD catches last year. But he brought an offseason muscle injury to training camp and never caught up. He was listed fourth throughout the preseason. It's possible Moore's release could lead to a roster spot for rookie fullback/H-back Brad Smelley.

McCoy could still be gone...

Edit: Evan Moore gone too.

If they are worried about McCoy becoming the most popular guy in town, then they just need to skip right past Feeley. This town goes nuts for any new QB, especially when they are the backup.
At least we've seen McCoy.

That, and I *really* hate Berman's 'The Who' references when saying Feeley's name.

I always wondered if Wallace was really the guy the Browns wanted to teach Weeded the ropes of the offense.

Feeley? Ewww...

Moore? Dude did nothing this past year-and-a-half to warrant a roster spot.
