This is NOT a "We lost because of the Refs" thread..

This about the overall incompetance of the current Refs the NFL is using...

This is my overall opinion:

I understand they have never officiated NFL games before, but they HAVE officiated FOOTBALL games before, RIGHT?

Why is it they seem not even know COMMON FOOTBALL RULES?!

Discuss/Rant

as soon as you posted this, there may have been the WORST call I've ever seen in the Steelers game with the pass interference call.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

I will reserve judgement until I see a statistical comparison of blown calls of these refs and 2012 officials.

I simply cant make an accurate judgement call otherwise.

Refs always blow calls. I recall the Seattle superbowl had some seriously blown calls. And the Arizona vs. Steelers game had a few as well. It will be interesting to find out if this crew of Refs is worse than the others, and if so, by how much.

It's not even about blown calls.

It's about not knowing the rules that the common fan know.

This week has been an abomination.

I agree, mostly.....It looked like last week the home team almost always got the benefit of the doubt. Maybe home crowd intimidation?

This week the Refs just stink.

I think they avoid certain calls, so that they don't effect the outcome of games...

But avoiding them also effects it...

A huge problem last week and this week is they absolutely suck at spotting the ball.

These refs seem less likely to overturn something.
They seem like they don't make ticky tack calls that i'm used to seeing from the regular refs.
Alot of times it seems like they are happy to have a call that may be the wrong call but , well game has to keep moving so tuff luck it will even out, lets just stick with the original call on reviews and stuff. Especially on things like was it a first down? yep give it to em.

They let alot of pass interference go, and holding, even the personal fouls that nobody caught last week while uncovering a fumble pile. It seems like they are consistent to both teams though.

Does anyone think the NFL will allow this to go on into the Playoffs?

How would these refs do in the playoffs?

What if they cost someone a trip to, or worse yet, the Super Bowl itself?

The NFL is the greatest game right now for a reason, treat it as such.

What did you guys think of the flag that got picked up when the bungles threw TR's shoe in the end zone?

First they throw the flag then they decide it's not an Unsportsmanlike penalty?

Yeah that was a head scratcher .

I thought at least it would be a delay of game penalty.

Between the calls and one of the refs being a Saints fan and almost getting away with reffing the Saints game...yeah, NFL should be on the horn and get this lockout done with.

Embarrassing to the entire sport.

I didn't think that they would actually go into the season with these replacements.

How many games out comes have already been decided by bad calls or missed calls?

Let's see.....

Weeden gets purposefully tripped for a sack. Um, that would be a tripping. A penalty. Not called.

Richardson's shoe was tossed 25 yards downfield. That's a delay of game. A flag WAS thrown, then picked up as a no-call.

Then that pass interference call in the PIT-NYJ game....wtf was that????

In this SF vs Detroit game, SF got to run a play even though the first quarter had expired. Am I missing something?

Well they just showed the Bills and our other opponents how to defence Richardson and get away with it ... at least until we get the real refs back.

And yes that was tripping, intended or not.

Having to have a head coach correct them on the basic operation of the clock twice in one game should be embarrassing beyond words for them.

The lack of a delay of game call when the Bungle threw Richardson's shoe into the end zone was just amazing.

The fact that they missed a blatant hold on the Bungles long zig zag TD pass, where almost our entire defense missed tackles was horrific.

Overall, these officials are absolutely horrible. I know this little old blind lady who's never watched a football game in her life who might be just as good.

You are talking about yourself, right? (kidding if you didn't know)

As has been said, they were not much of a factor in week 1, week 2 they were terrible. That was a delay of game at minimum, should have been unsportsmanlike. To throw another players shoe that far was just downright inexcusable and to pick up the flag was even worse (in the heat of watching it I wanted him ejected). It would not likely have changed the outcome of the game but it was poor sportsmanship nonetheless.

Next week I say we take the penalty and just run over and toss all the bills players helmets into the stands {purple}.

Some of these refs even come from division3.

They are not up to the speed of the NFL game and are obviously overwhelmed at this level.

They have refused to call pass interferance on obvious ones, then when the defender is looking back for the ball and their feet get tangled up, they do call it.

They get confused with the game clock between what they know, college, and the pros.

It's an absolute joke that hinges on one thing. The NFL owners who swim in money wish to change their retirement from a pension to 401k. It's that simple. then the owners use the press to say, "Hey, we offered them more money!", when they know it isn't a money issue.

And yes, the NFL doesn't care that the game is being compromised. They are more willing to compromise the game than they are to continue with a pension program for the NFL officials. that's only obvious.

They know the fans and the money will continue to pour in with or without those refs. so as long as we accept it, why should they care? They don't. And all the while the networks gloss over it and only touch upon it.

The whole thing is sickening actually and we play the fools. It will only change when and if the fan base gets vocal about it and uses methods like signs at the game and pressure on the NFL to change it. And so far, I don't see that happening.....

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I was screaming at the TV, wondering how in the Hell that was NOT a penalty!

And the bogus Pass Interference call, too - sorry, that ball was uncatchable, that should have been a no-call.

Yeah that wasn't a call made by professional refs.

The no call on the shoe toss was so blatantly obvious, even a peewee League ref would have made that call ... delay of game penalty.

This has been an utter failure on the behalf of the League.

i was wondering if anyone else noticed that as well... tv announcers didn't mention it. I don't see how it was missed.
The TE's catch on the sideline really baffled me as well. I think his foot went out of bounds while bobbling the ball. When he regained possession he did get both feet down- but still- once you go out of bounds isn't that the end of the story. The WR can not be the first guy to touch the ball??? Isn't that actually a penalty??

But are these refs worse then the regular refs--- i don't know. I will always complain about blown calls. And i don't seem to be complaining anymore this year then past years.

wow are they bad. this is horrible. How many games would have had different outcomes this weekend? Ask the giants last year how important just one game in the regular season is.

this monday night game is spotlighted on how bad these officials are. Denver is challenging everything as they keep getting shafted. I think they los the 12 man on the field reply as Fox was having a fit, and threw the flag as he had to have figured they MUST be wrong.

The NFL has to man up and stop trying to screw the refs retirement fund. 401k for all new refs, and the pension style for the ones who predate it. (even though 401k sucks, and they shouldn't take it.......NFL makes billions. It can afford to help them in retirement.

Even when the real refs mess up...........and they do........it's nothing, NOTHING like this mess.

Officiating was horrible last year. I thought in all the games last week the refs did a very good job. This week they sucked and our game was a perfect example.

They didnt know tripping was illegal. They didnt know throwing someones shoe is unsportsmanlike conduct and they didnt know if the defense jumps on an extra point that u can take the 5 yards on the kickoff. That is common freaking sense stuff that 90% of the fans know. We must have gotten the worst crew in the league.

I wonder whose job it is to control the game clock. I saw the clock rolling even after an incomplete pass . They should be on their toes when its under 2 minutes. Shurmer should not have to have the refs stop the clock when the WR clearly went out of bounds. The refs should have caught that themselves. If someone goes back to re-watch the game (alot of game tape for a small no call) you will see that the clock was rolling after an incomplete pass. The refs are new to this, no excuse for game clock manager to mess up something like that.

I wish they had a replay of Jacksons personal foul. It clearly wasnt a late hit when Parker had the sack or a blow to the head.

Like said before, throwing Richardson shoe being not called after a flag was origanlly thrown was a head scratcher. With the clock still running, that delayed Richardson big time. The player had to leave the field to put his shoe on.

A couple holding calls (Mack, Thomas) were ticky tacky but so were a couple against Philly last week.

It does seem like the refs are giving a little home team advantage. But that is only from the 2 Browns games I watched. I didnt notice it as much watching other games.

ha, now the rest of the league knows how it feels to have horrible, unbelievable calls go against your team!

Seriously, I am pretty sure in this Denver game that the regs totally mis-spotted the ball twice for the denver drive at the end of the half.

Plus in all the games and highlights I've seen it's the calls they aren't making that are really the bad ones. the ticky tack ones they call.......well even the real refs mess that up. The obvious holding (D and O), the tripping, the playing after the whistle (heck the late whistle most of the time anyway), not controlling players, I mean this week was horrible.
