Well, a quick Google search of Fortune 500 companies in Ohio that might be able to afford it came up with 27 companies... Here are the top 13 in order and with annual revenues... I marked the ones with Cincy that aren't likely.
Cardinal Health ($96 billion) Kroger ($82 billion) Cincy Procter & Gamble ($80 billion) Cincy Macy's ($25 billion) Cincy Nationwide ($20 billion) Goodyear ($19 billion) Progressive ($15 billion) American Electric ($14 billion) Eaton ($14 billion) First Energy ($13 billion) Parker Hannifan ($10 billion) Limited Brands ($10 billion) Sherwin Williams ($8 billion)

I would like to see the Cleveland Clinic purchase the naming rights, myself.
for the same reason anyone else would buy the naming rights, to get their name out there more. they don't do it to stroke egos, they do it as a marketing tool
Have you noticed how often a stadium is mentioned during national broadcasts..
Not saying he'd do it, but that's why if he did.

Quote: I have to agree. I don't really care about naming rights. It's not like I'm going to spend $140 on a jersey with the name of the stadium on it only to have it not the same 2 years from now... not like I haven't done that for about 6 players though.
I wonder who can guess the players first. It would make a quick contest.

I would hate that because a hospital which is supposed to be helping people by keeping costs down paying millions for naming rights just doesnt feel right to me. Same with First Energy listed about. A utility company that can control the rates it charges to keep solvent making that much money again just feels wrong.
Forest City Field would have been cool back in the day. Progessive already has a deal done with the Indians dont see them doing both. Have not been down there in a few years not sure who the big advertisers are now.
Heres hoping Nintendo stays outta the picture.
Welcome everybody to Nintendo Wii Stadium, where games are played.
If you need 3 years to be a winner you got here 2 years to early. Get it done Browns.

I honestly do not know the answer to this question: Is there an embarrassing stadium name that a pro team plays in right now?
As much as anyone would like to believe that the cold weather is an "advantage" to the northern teams, the reality is that this is rarely the case. Better teams win football games and that's that.
Want more fans to show up? Put a roof on it.
Want better FAs to show up (especially WRs)? Put a roof on it.
So many more reasons....
I see no downside at all to this.
I agree. The only real home field advantage a team can have is the noise factor.
This idea we can play better in the cold and slop is idiotic.
Heck, the last 10 years should prove that.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

Whenever I hear "M&T Bank Stadium" I think they're saying "Tea Bag Stadium".

I really think the Texans' defense really feeds off the fans at their home games... I know Cleveland stadium can get loud at times, but it's unbelievably loud during Texans games at times with the roof closed!
I really never understood why they didn't put a retractable roof on the new stadium... never made much sense to me.
Domes and roofs are for sissys. Football is meant to be played in the rain, snow, wind, mud.
Domes are for people who drink martinis with their pinkies in the air. If you want a roof, go watch arena football.
That is all.

Browns is the Browns
... there goes Joe Thomas, the best there ever was in this game.

Exactly.
Putting a retractable roof on the stadium does not mean all the games would be played indoors. It's retractable.
The bigger benefit is that the stadium can be used year round for other events. And yes, they will be times where they close the roof for football games due to horrendous weather, but that likely won't be often.
I was watching channel 19 news last night at 11pm. it's the FOX station here in town,.
Anyway,, man were they making a big deal out of the "dome" thing and how many clevelanders have spoken out against it.
I was out and about yesterday a lot,, I didn't hear anything all that negative and believe me, the topic did come up.
So I switched to Channel 3 (NBC) and Nothing other than simply reporting the news.. No, wow the world is coming to an end, we're putting a dome on CBS,, which by the way won't be known as CBS anymore....LOL
For years, channel 19 had been all about the sensationalixm factor.. I guess this is no different.

Thank you. Made my morning! Dome sounds nice and all, but I would never have this or the memory of the stealer game and watching frozen beer pour out of can. That's some of my bet memories at CBS. Of course the few wins are always good!
With more and more NFL franchises building retractable roof stadiums, the National Football League has found the need to clarify the open and closed rules for these types of stadiums. The NFL has certain rules regarding retractable roofs and each football team has additional rules regarding the retractable roofs in their respective stadiums.
Regular Game Play
The home team must decide whether the roof will be open or closed during game play at least 90 minutes before kickoff. If the game begins with the roof closed, the roof must remain closed for the entire game. If during the game, officials close the roof due to adverse or changing weather conditions, officials cannot reopen the roof and it must remain closed for the rest of the game. These rules apply to all preseason and regular season games.
End of Game and Overtime
During the final five minutes of the fourth quarter of any regular play game, officials cannot close the retractable roof regardless of adverse or changing weather conditions. If the game goes into overtime, the officials cannot close the roof anytime before or during the sudden death overtime game play. However, if the weather becomes hazardous to fans and players, like in the case of lightning or hail, NFL officials can decide to close the roof for everyone's protection.
Playoff and Superbowl Games
If a divisional playoff or Superbowl game is set to take place in a retractable roof stadium, the NFL decides whether the roof will be open or closed during game play. Once the NFL makes its decision, regular game play and end of game and overtime roof rules apply. If the roof is open at the beginning of the game, it must remain open except in the case of adverse or dangerous weather conditions. If officials close the roof at the beginning of the playoff game or Superbowl, it must remain closed for the entire game.

That game was epic. I wish I was there. But alas, I live in Atlanta. We have a sissy dome here. I went to a falcons game once. Did not like the indoor football one bit. It feels very closed in and unnatural.
I am really starting to come around to changing almost everything to get a fresh start.
Someone said this, and I kind of agree ....... change the uniforms, dome the stadium, give us a logo, name the stadium for a corporate sponsor ...... anything to change the culture of losing.
One thing I don't want to do is blow everything up again. I actually like a fair number of our players, and think that they have a future in the NFL. I have said all along that I wanted Shurmur to get 4-5 years so we can see not only what he is now, but what he can become. I like Heckert, and hope that he'll be our long term GM. I am tired of seeing stuff blown up every 2 years.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

A dome.... in Atlanta, GA.
But then again... they DO get 2 inches of snow and slush every 3-4 years that grinds the entire town to a halt for a week....
And when temps are in the 40s, they can host a super bowl, college bowl games, have concerts... and they don't have to play in the 100 degree heat in early September.
There are reasons to have a dome other than to avoid the snow for a couple NFL games.
The Bills came in with the very same game plan I said teams would when we drafted TR. They took him away and put the game on the shoulders of Weeden and our receivers. Moe looked promising after the first two games, but once again he can't stay healthy enough to stay on the field.
Little if you looked in the book next "Sophomore Slump" and "Hands of Stone" there would be his picture.
Until we have a true go to WR, this team will struggle to move the ball on anyone.
Can one player [Haden] on defense make all the difference? I don't think it's so clear cut. Our secondary is just a mess with others expected to pick up the slack and their respective games.
Both Skrine and Patterson looked better in supporting roles, then in starting roles and they are proving to be not up to the task. If it where up to me I would put Wade in (on the outside) and let him learn OTJ. he really can't do much worse.
FS has been absentee no matter who we put back there. (it seems like we are playing 10 vs their 11).
Our OL is not the best we could have and our OG's have really not shown much improvement over last year, but when a defense throws more players at them, then they can block, there will be no holes for TRich to run through.
Weeden still has much to learn about how to move around in the pocket and I think that he took twice as many sacks as he should have yesterday, so there is enough blame to go around.
There is really nothing to hang your hat on after this loss and that's just demoralizing to this fan base.
It looks like "the House of Pain" is open for business after being humiliated by droves of Bills fans in our house.
The only way to change this losing culture is to win and that notion seems to be a long way off in the distances and out of view, even after a night to sleep on this latest loss.
