Oh a-rod, if you werem't so rich it would be such a sad story.
He went 0-3 with 2 K's (which put his numbers for the series at .083, 1 BB, 1 R, 7 SO, 0 RBIs).
So it's the 9th inning and he's batting 2nd.....Giradi FINALLY wakes up and decides to pinch hit for a-rod. OF COURSE the replacement not only gets a hit, but hits a game-tying solo homer.
My goodness. It's not just that the Yankees tied the game with him on the bench....but the very guy that replaced him hits the homer. Sooooo awesome.
Also, as much as I dislike the Yanks, and I know I've said it on her before, Jeter is the man. Dude is hitting .462 in this series. Everyone left him for dead after a sub-par 2010 season (.270) but he's come back with two very strong seasons. It's almost too bad he can't that cheating, lying, gambling hit king for the career hits record (needs about 900 hits).

Ha ha ha....and then Raul hits the game winner too.
Suicide watch for a-rod starts.

Tigers just gagged that away, badly.
Good to see Coco playing well. I always liked him.
There's no way Verlander loses tomorrow.....but man, these A's have a decent chance.

that 9th inning by the A`s was awesome. Seth Smith/Donaldson/Crisp so glad I stayed up to watch it.
and you could feel that Crisp knew he had Valverde on the ropes when he stepped up. that's what the Tigers get for spending $130mil on their payroll but not bothering to fix a broken bullpen during the season.

Valverde has been horrible all year. He is also one of the most unlikable players in the league, with his on the field routine after every strikeout. I have no problem seeing him fail.

I rather enjoy the Tigers failings, period. The fans around here are obnoxious and expect Yankee-like results because they bought a couple of fat sluggers. They probably wouldn't have even made the playoffs if they were in the West or East. They benefited from the competition (mildly hypocritical coming from a Reds fan, I know).

To be fair, they didn't buy Miguel Cabrera. They used their homegrown assets to trade for him (Maybin and Andrew Miller were top prospects at the time. There were also four other players in the deal.)

they definitely would not have made the playoffs. they had worse records than the wild card teams + Angels. and that was based on a schedule of having the opportunity to get fat on the Indians, Royals and Twins.

I haven't been paying attention to the playoffs or baseball in general, but I was happy to hear that fat slob blew it for his team.

JC: I'm a Yankee fan and this gets so frustrating. I almost feel like we should blow the team up and start with a few core players and all fresh faces.
Our lack of hitting in the playoffs year after year is sickening.
Texiera: 28 million, does NOTHING at bat in the playoffs
Nick Swisher: See ya later, his playoff batting average is so upsetting
A-Rod: Now it's bad seasons to go along with bad playoff series (2009 he was awesome)
Even Robbie Cano and Granderson (although these two I do want to keep), hit the freakin ball!
I mean, lineup better then any in baseball, pitching is our weak spot, and it's the exact opposite in these playoffs. It's just very hard to watch someone like Phil Hughes pitch a good game, and our hitters do NOTHING! ================== And I agree, Valverde drives me nuts. Although I imagine if he was on my team, I'd love it

I'm a Yankee fan too, and I totally agree. 1-2 runs per game with this lineup is frustrating to watch. They are definitely a terrible team to watch from an offensive standpoint. I mean, why do they wait until the 8th inning to start making their move?
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Guys on 1st and 2nd. Doubt we'll get a run even though we have no outs
-------------- Now they'll send in a righty to pitch to A-Rod and throw it high and tight on him.
Even if he gets walked, I think Swish is up after. He's awful.
See these stats? 1 for 17 A-Rod, 1 for 33 Swish with runners in scoring position in postseason.
A-Rod strikes out. You've gotta be kidding me! How about a suicide squeeze! Freakin Ichiro is on 3rd!
And Swisher sucks it up.
It's PATHETIC!

He's not making fun of the team, he's making fun of the fans... I wish I could complain about the Indians not hitting well in the playoffs every year.

jc Verlander's throwing a gem of a game tonight. I hope they don't bring in Valverde to blow a 6-0 lead.

Well I don't make fun of Indian fans either.
As for your problems, I definitely get it. It's just a different view. The Yankees always get your hopes up to crush them because of bad hitting these past three years. And it's very frustrating when the team pays for all that talent, and they can't do anything in the post-season.
I'm a Browns fan too, so obviously I know what being stuck rooting for a bad team is like. But watching the Yankees relying on a pitching staff which always steps up in the post-season, while the hitting lineup always fails miserably lately, is very upsetting too. It's one thing to watch some scrub strike out with guys in scoring position. It's another to watch A-Rod do it with his 30 million a year contract and Ichiro on third.
I was wondering why we didn't bunt at that point (Ichiro on third, one out, A-Rod up), and it's gotta be because A-Rod has never bunted in his life

I know, but put the two things I said together... You have how many WS rings? You are in the playoffs every year. You could dump ARod, Texiera and Sabathia tomorrow and be reloaded by the start of spring training... so to hear Yankees fans complain about how they hit in the playoffs comes across as sort of whiney to fans of teams that are very seldom over .500 let alone in the playoffs every year... all I'm saying is that this is probably not the best place to complain about the Yankees not being able to hit in the playoffs....

Petey you're a good guy, but, as I have told you in the past, I am not going to hold back on railing on you when you whine about the Yankees here. This is a predominantly Indians (with a decent amount of Reds fans) site here. Our entire payroll is less than Jeter+A-Rod+CC+Tex. The gulf between the Yankees payroll and the Indians is just going to get bigger over the next few seasons too.
So, any complaining here on the Yanks is crying and will be treated as such. Sorry if that is harsh, but so is cheering for the Indians

Look at the bright side, you only have 5 years and $114 Million left on that A-Rod contract.

Wow.
But really, that contract won't hurt them that bad....they can pay him to stay away from the ballpark with the change in their couch cushions. If a small market team has a dead contract like that, they are doomed.

A-rob's been benched for game 5. Maybe he can sweep up; seems the least he could do for that cash.

Chavez is good, but I'd rather the Yankees play Nunez at third. He's a better hitter

Wow, both the Reds and Nats out in the NL.

Here's how to explain what just happened...
The Cards are the Cards. The Nationals are the "Natinals".
Wow, 4-run 9th inning. Wow.

I think that the Stankees are going to win it all now. Agree that St Louis will win the NL.
