The defense is legit. Not going to find better defenders than Craft, Smith, and Thompson. They just need to develop Ross, and make a better percentage of their shots. I like the fact we're a lot more athletic than in recent years.
Our defense and team athleticism give me hope. This is a very fast team that should get transition buckets. I don't question the attitude and effort from this squad. They are going to bring it night in and night out on defense the more the year progresses. We just need better shooting and guys not trying to force things.

Kentucky getting beat inside?
No way, it's almost as if their interior D is weak or something! I'm shocked!

Kentucky plays poor defense under John Calipari in November! SHOCKING!
He'll have this team as one of the best defensive teams in the country, just like he does every year.

I know you are a Kentucky fan and I know Cal has had his success but simple logic dictates that even if you bring in high school superstars to replace your outgoing superstars every year.... if you are changing out almost your entire rotation every year, eventually you are going to get one that doesn't work. I'm not saying this is the year that happens, but it will eventually happen.

I think history shows it happens more often than eventually. Cal only has one championship because he had enough seasoned players on the team to finally win a championship. Sadly I think this will be the only one he brings us, and it could get taken from us. His history shows that also.

In sad news...
Rick Majerus passed today. Thats incredibly sad, he was a terrific coach and from all accounts, a terrific person. Sad to see his health issues finally be too much. Age 64...too soon. The sports world is a different place today.
I still remember he and Keith Van Horn running amok throughout the NCAA tournament in the mid-late 90s. Bummer man. Im saddened today.

Definitely sad news. RIP Coach.

Well, I don't think you have to win the NC to be considered a pretty good season.. then again I also know the standards in Kentucky are different.

Are you seriously hopping off the bandwagon 7 games after a National Championship? My God, no wonder the rest of the country hates our fans.

Kentucky dropped from #8 to Unranked in the AP Poll.
The highest anyone has been ranked to drop out in one week since the AP went to 25 teams in 1990.
It is also the first time Kentucky has not been ranked under Calipari.

Honestly, I don't think this has anything to do with why the rest of the country hates Kentucky fans.

After a 4-3 start, Kentucky fans needed some good news.
2014 #1 player Karl Towns Jr. just committed to Kentucky.

He was 2015 #1, I meant.
But he's reclassifying to 2014.
We'll see where he ends up in that class.

I think it's just the lack of leadership.
All of our teams have struggled early under Calipari, but there was always that one guy who stepped up and said, "This is my team, and I want the ball"
John Wall, Brandon Knight, Kidd-Gilchrist were those guys.
There's not a single person that has any leadership ability on this team, and it worries me.

If you protect the ball and don't foul Indiana is easy to beat. They only score by getting to the line and having fast break points.

This is huge. The Big East is a changing. 7 teams not in the FBS are leaving the Big East behind to start a new Basketball Connfrence
Yeah, the Big East might as well just disband after this.
It just doesn't seem right that the conference should exist without Syracuse, Georgetown, Uconn, St. Johns, Villanova. etc. etc. etc......
Im not a Big East fan because Villanova broke up the Big 5. (its a Philly thing..lol..) But still, in the realm of sports, this is not right.

I see your point. Its a good one too. The Big East should change its name now though. Its not the Big East without those teams.

Yeah, as a Cincinnati basketball fan I was excited when they joined the conference, it was a huge step up from Conference USA. After this it will be much worse than what Conference USA was at the time in the mid 2000s, before Marquette, Louisville and Cincinnati left it. Just terrible news, the brutal conference schedule netted UC some very favorable seeds the last couple NCAA tournaments. This sucks.

I feel ya. I'm a Temple fan, and going to the Big East was awesome compared to the A-10. Stinks that the conference is going to be no more.

I kind of agree, but Butler showed why they can go on another final 4 run. Their two best basketball players were in foul trouble and they still won.

This Big East stuff has all been a nightmare for me.
As a UConn fan, I cannot understand why we can't get into another conference, and I'm terrified it's going to destroy our athletics programs. Calhoun is retired, we aren't in the NCAA Basketball Tourney this year, and our recruiting is going down hill.
This, after our basketball team won a championship a year and a half ago and another one with Emeka Okafor and Ben Gordon and another with Rip Hamilton. We've had as much success as any team as of late in basketball.
Yet schools like Rutgers are getting into these big conferences and we can't. University of Maryland too. Why is UConn being left out? Our football really isn't that bad. We beat Louisville and Maryland this year, yet those teams move right along.
It's just been a total nightmare.............. I don't know what to do. But if we can't fix this and soon, people better be fired. Right from the Governor, down the whole line. I read that our Senator Blumenthal might be the reason the ACC didn't take us. Well, he should be out of office immediately then. This guy, the lawyer/Vietnam Vetranarian better not be the reason (went to Vietnam Vet groups and said he was one of them, lol, yet he never went over there). Whatever it takes, whatever it costs, things need to go in the right direction. This is the only sports team we have in CT, and it is getting all screwed up. It's a really big deal. Why did we never hire a Rich Rodriguez, Mike Leetch, pay Jim Tressel. There's been football coaches out there. Gene Czick is available. The coach from Univ of Arkansas. WHATEVER IT COSTS, PAY IT. I WANT MY UCONN HUSKIES COMPETITIVE
We live in like the richest state in the country, and we live right next to Yankee stadium (where they pay for success every year). Let's start throwing down the cash and make things happen. But no. Instead we're stuck in quicksand, dying as an athletic institution (yet doing great as an athletic institution, OF COURSE NO ONE CARES). It's like I say to my friends, "It's garbage my taxes are going to be going up. Does that help me out one bit that I have to pay more taxes? Am I getting laid because I have to pay taxes. No I'm not....." I can't brag to you guys that UConn is a top20 state university or whatever. I can talk a bunch of smack about my basketballteam though (and I was hoping my football as well......)
This conference thing has been a total disaster. Heads better roll ASAP

honestly, the best way I see for UConn to fix itself is to drop FBS football and go down to FCS. focus back on what made you a strong program and that is basketball.
move from the Big Falling Apart East to the A-10 (still strong even with Catholic defections) and possibly bring Cinci with you to make it that much stronger (less chance as they seem more inclined to hold onto their football program).
be a dominant basketball program again and don't worry about the other stuff.

One problem with this.... I love UConn football. We really aren't that bad. There's some perception that we are, but we're good enough to play in these big conferences. May be we won't be powerhouses like we were in basketball. But all these other conferences have weak sports programs. UConn's football team really isn't that weak.
Two or three years ago we were in the Fiesta Bowl.
Sure, Conn's football fanbase might not match its basketball fanbase, but that's because we're so new. But there are Conn football fans, and that tailgate is a lot of fun, even if they don't allow charcoal grills.
Giving up on competitive football is not an option. There has to be some other way. As I said, people need to be fired immediately. I saw this happening a year or two ago and I realized the Big East would explode. Immediately I wanted to put our ducks in order to join the ACC or (even better, Big Ten). It was evident this would happen, may be not the catholic basketball school thing, but the rest of it.
Yet schools like Louisville and Rutgers are getting into these major conferences. We win titles, our academics are better, our women's basketball team is the most dominant female program in the past 20 years, i think our men's soccer team : just played in the NCAA championship :EDIT, our team was good this year and lost to Creighton in the elite 8 of soccer tourneys::. It just doesn't make any sense. Did our Athletic Director sleep with someone's mother? Someone's gotta let us join their conference

All of your facts are true... how many television sets does UCONN potentially bring to a conference that they don't already have? That's really the most important thing to them...
