I need to stop betting on College Basketball...
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I'm praying it's a torn ACL.
Rumors are a ruptured patellar tendon.
I couldn't care less what it means for our season at this point, I just want Nerlens to fully recover...

I saw that while working out last night....ugh, terrible break for such a young kid this close to the end of the season (and the draft).
I hope it's nothing too bad.

Makes one question the one and done rule...
If the NBA would have taken him this year...he shouldve been able to go...or they should hold them for 2 years, so they can get an associates at least...1 year is silly.

I watched this game fairly objectively as I don't like either team and Duke was the major beneficiary of a few questionable calls down the stretch... Duke is by a wide margin the better team and both teams played poorly.. in the end Duke would have probably won anyway... but boy did they get some help.
Doesn't matter, Miami is the best team in the ACC and maybe the best team in the nation right now.

I know, it felt weird typing it... They are one fluke loss in early November to Florida Gulf Coast away from being the unanimous #1 team.. a game in which this team that averages 47% from the field shot 29%...
They are the first team in almost 40 years to beat Duke and UNC by 20+ in the same season... Maryland did it in 1974 (had to throw that in there. )

the problem with Miami is that all their players will reach retirement age by the time March Madness rolls around. i mean, it's 2013, how dare they have a team filled with juniors and seniors

I still think Kansas is the best. When they lock in, you have no chance of scoring on them. They completely suffocate you.
I don't recognize this OSU team. Absolutely no passion or sense of urgency the last 3 games on defense.

Defense seems to be the thing this year... college basketball is very thin on dynamic scorers this year and most of the teams at the top are playing great defense... March is going to be interesting and I look for a lot of games being fairly ugly and battled in the 50s and 60s...

I look for a team similar to UCONN in 2010-2011 to win the title this year. A team with one phenomenal scorer that is surrounded by elite defenders and rebounders.

Yup.
Mclemore is an absolute stud and everyone else around him defends at a high level.

i'd be just a little worried that teams are a smarter than that now though. UConn set the precedence of figuring out how to stop that 1 guy and Oklahoma State showed what can be done if you force Kansas into a halfcourt game (even TCU can beat them!).
I can see McLemore carrying them for 6 games as well though. I think I like Michigan State the best though.

a month ago, I had posted the following: Quote:
Butler - I'm done questioning Stevens genius. Mich. State - same w/ Izzo Kansas - have they done enough to get past their tourney demons? I say yes. Ohio State - only because there is no 4th team for me and I like the Bucks
I'd stick with the first three, but I am sold on the Hurricanes (replacing the Buckeyes). They play so disciplined that I don't see them getting upset by a small school, yet they play so efficiently that I think they can hang with any of the blue blood programs.
They are basically a mid-major team but with full-major recruits who stuck around for 3-4 years.
-----------------
really though, the interesting thing is the next tier of teams who have a good chance at the final-4. there are probably 10-15 of them (so ~20 overall).
my favorites of the next tier: Indiana, St.L, Oklahoma State, Syracuse

I think Miami has the most complete team, I just don't have the confidence that they won't melt under the pressure... Jim Larranaga is one heck of a coach too... I believe he is by a wide margin the best coach most people have never heard of (or at least don't remember where they heard that name.. )

Indiana kind of reminds me of OSU when we had Lighty and Diebler.
I think they could get upset early in the tourney. I feel like they rely on 3's too much. They will lose if they get matched up with a physical team.

OSU has no heart or balls.
Deshaun Thomas is overrated as hell. He is just a shot chucker that won't defend. Our back court can't score and are getting lazy on defense lately. Our centers suck, Amir is soft and Ravenal is just garbage. Embarrassing and this is the worst team Matta has had since he's been here. At least in his first few years his teams fought hard. This team only plays hard when they want to because they have no leadership. Matta has done a crap job developing guys.

OSU left their passion in Ann Arbor. Haven't played with any since then. The defense is pathetic, the shot selection is pathetic, the coaching is pathetic.

I'm not the biggest Thad fan, but it's tough to argue with the results of the team.
Couple final four appearances, one NC appearance. There were a few years where I think they probably fell short of expectation, but it seems like he can drive you crazy, but when you look at the big picture, I think they are doing about as well as they should be.

I think its surprising that the Ohio State program has experienced more success under Matta (6 tourneys in 7 years, and the lone year missing an NIT title) than with ANY other coach barring the 1960 National Championship under Fred Taylor...
Why anyone would ever say anything negative about Matta (who has succeeded EVERYWHERE he's ever been) when he has a team where Aaron Craft and Thomas are the only true NCAA top 10 team caliber players on the roster has crafted a team that can succeed in the B1G. They've had letdowns, and struggle to score. But are a top 15 team that will be a top 5 seed come tourney time. At worst a 7...
Thad's done a great job with this roster

I feel like it's the same type of complaints that NCST people have of Gottfried. If you look at one thing. In Ohio State its past results, and early results and think its one way and it isnt. If you look at NCST you look at outright top end talent, and think that if they arent at the very top its a down year.
These coaches are preparing for the post season...Their teams are there...thats what they are building for. A loss at Wisconsin, or 5 league losses where 4 come by 9 points...those prepare you for the ultimate.
Thad will have the Ohio State team ready for March...he always does. and Gottfried will do the same with my NCST boys.
Period

Offense was ugly in first half. We got out and ran to get easy buckets. That was very encouraging.

I hate how much the refs let Derrick Nix fat ass get away with.

Too bad they're playing Conn for number 10. We beat Syracuse too......
That little party the Hoyas are having is gonna end tomorrow night.
Conn looks pretty good. If we could only get a center, we'd be a title contender next year. I'm suprised some D2 or D1AA guy doesn't see this and make his way to UConn. "Are you 6'10" or taller and weigh about 250 pounds? Can you rebound, play defense, and get some garbage inside points? Come to Connecticut and win a National Championship!"
And I'm loving my main man Kevin Ollie as a head coach. He gave me a sweatshirt when I was like 7 or 8 years old. It said, "To Pete, From Kevin Ollie" right on the Christmas package under the tree. He was my favorite player growing up, throwing dimes out to UConn Superstars like Ray Allen and Donyell Marshall

Big Ten tourney is gonna be incredibly fun to watch.
Ignore the first round chumps. In the 2nd round you might get OSU vs Michigan. In the third round you get a potential final 4 of: Indiana, Sparty, Wiscosnin, Michigan or Ohio State. Just a teaser of March Madness.
