There's no such thing as a 100% lock in betting.... UNTIL NOW! This completely delusional Florida fan, told me that Floirda will play Notre Dame for the National Championship. He bet me $100.

The Golden Flashes play No. 21 Northern Illinois in the MAC championship on Friday. If the winner of that game moves up to No. 16 and remains ahead of a conference champion from an automatic-qualifying school, it will crash the BCS party.

Seeing as there currently is no Big East champion even in the top 25...
Boise could also do it.

As much as I'd love to see Kent St. make a splash, I don't think I'd like to see them play a team like Georgia or Oregon.

Georgia will be out of the BCS if they lose to Alabama.
It'd be Florida.

Ok, so Kent St. against Florida. Yeah, that would be a lot closer of a game.

Bowling Green played them tough earlier in the season. Kent would have a really good shot, actually.

Maybe I'm just having a hard time understanding that Kent isn't the worst football team in the world like they were when I was there, lol.
Perhaps you're right, and I'd love to see it. I just have a hard time believing it.

If back and August, I had told you these statements about the College Football season, what would you have said?
- Notre Dame goes undefeated and plays for the National Title. - Ohio State goes 12-0. - Penn State wins 8 games following the scandal. - The MAC will have two teams in the BCS Top 25. - USC only wins 7 games. - A team that lost to Kentucky by 33 points will be #17 in the BCS (Kent State)

you hit the main ones, but others: 3rd place divisional team in both Big10 & ACC get to play for a BCS berth Northwestern 3rd place Big10 team and top25 (of eligible teams) San Jose State top25 (5-7 in '11, 1-11 in '10, 2-10 in '09) A&M top10 ranked team K-State likely winner of BigXII MAC good chance at getting Orange Bowl bid (Kent State beats NoIll + UCLA loses will likely be enough). Big East has no team ranked in BCS-top25 (ok, no surprise )

I'm going to be rooting for Kent state what a feel good story and even if they get blown out in the BCS game it is worth Millions to that school. Lets all the small schools know they do actually have a chance to play with the big boys.

I know it's not exactly how it works, and it's a horrible system that favors the more popular teams, but Kent State, should they win, deserves the Big Ten's second BCS game that they usually get. Nobody in the conference outside of the team that wins the game next week deserves to be in a BCS game, and quite frankly, I would rather tune in to watch the Flashes get their shot over anyone in the B1G.
I hope they make it and I'm gonna pull hard for them. Would be good for the MAC too. Always overlooked. Their track record with quality NFL players speaks for itself.

I doubt the Big 10 Gets a 2nd one.
Had Michigan beat OSU they might of snuck in.
But assuming Nebraska wins, who are they going to give it to? A crappy Wisconsin team? North Freaking Western?
All KSU has to do is win and they're in the top 16, ahead of the Big East champ, and they are in..

Yeah, that's what I meant. The Big Ten is only getting their AQ team in this year and deservedly so. The conference was an embarrassment all year.

And will continue to be forever...
OSU and UM can recruit in the top 5 every year.
Everyone else is lucky to be in the top 20...
Unless something in College Football changes dramatically, it's how it's ganna be when you're comparing the Big 10 to the SEC's of the world...

pelini is a good coach; nebraska doesn't need to be a top20 class to have a top20 team.
mich state needs to find an offense, they have the defense figured out.
conferences are cyclical, the big10 was horrendous this year but some of these teams will get on the upswing and the anchors are still there (thankfully we added the Huskers since the Lions are likely to be down for awhile)

Well when you said down, that usually refers to teams who's record is worse than 8-4...

projecting the future when they lose more talent and can't replace it as they are going to have a tough time convincing recruits to go there with no bowl eligibility for 3 more seasons after this one and the 10 scholarship reduction per season in that time.
this was the "easy" year for them

I'm still shocked that after they agreed to the sanctions, there were people in PSU that said, hey wait a minute, who's this guy think he is excepting these sanction? What are our other options? 4 years of not having a team. That was the option. Quote:
Emmert and Penn State President Rodney Erickson told ESPN's "Outside the Lines" on Wednesday that the majority of school presidents favored suspending the university's football program for four years.

Random name being thrown around for the Kentucky job. Thought it was a pipe dream at first, but now, maybe not so much. (And no, not Petrino).
Starting to leak.
Looks like Mark Stoops is gonna be our next coach.

Mark Stoops is Kentucky's Next Head Coach Mark Stoops has accepted the Kentucky football coaching job according to Kentucky Sports Radio. Stoops had been the defensive coordinator at Florida State since 2009 and before that held the same position at Arizona. I gotta say – I’m a bit surprised Stoops took this job. Look at the last four coaches at Kentucky – Joker Phillips, Rich Brooks, Guy Morriss, Hal Mumme. What have they done since leaving UK? It isn’t a springboard to a better job. It’s a basketball school. And then, take a look at the SEC East: Georgia, Florida, South Carolina … not to mention Vanderbilt is on a rise. If Charlie Strong stays in Louisville – he’ll probably get a few calls in the coming weeks – Stoops has a major uphill climb. If Tennessee lands Jon Gruden, Stoops has a major uphill climb. Obviously, if neither of those happened, Stoops would be thrilled. I’m just not sure why Stoops wouldn’t go the mid-major route – grab a job MAC or WAC, kick ass, then 2-3 years later get an attractive gig in a major conference. Kentucky went 2-10 this season, and was 0-8 in the SEC. Stoops first call should be to … John Calipari. He’s going to need his support. That leaves the following major jobs open: Arkansas, NC State, Auburn, Tennessee, California and Boston College.

Stoops was the "pipe-dream" hire I mentioned last week.
Honestly did not think this was an option. Stoops was in line for MUCH better jobs soon, possibly even this year. (Tennesse or Auburn, maybe?)

I think a huge part of it is coaching.
How many great or at least very very good coaches are in the Big Ten?
Think about 10 years ago in the Big Ten...
Joe Paterno, Lloyd Carr, Jim Tressel, Barry Alvarez, Kirk Ferentz, Joe Tiller... All excellent coaches at the time.
All are gone, with the exception of Ferentz, and his act is not working at Iowa anymore. I don't think it's all him, but they have been lackluster, and they were a program once thought to be part of the backbone of a top tier conference.
Urban Meyer is obviously a great coach. His success is already proven. Who else is great, or even very very good?
I need more before I can say Brady Hoke is going to be one of those coaches. I think Pat Fitzgerald has done some nice things, but how long until he realizes he can't get it done at that school? Mark Dantonio is also a solid coach but it just seems like he can't make things that interesting.

And while losing by 33 to a crappy team isn't that great...
It was their ONLY loss...
