3 hours into the Kelly interview with the Browns, the Eagles have asked for permission to interview Arians.

Interesting timing.

Good lord ... a 3 hour+ interview?

Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

The way I read it was they announced they were granted permission... which might mean the Colts got back to them today.

I don't read too much into it... they are lining up a bunch of interviews like we are so that they'll have multiple plans in place in case plan A doesn't work out.

Uhh,. it's a sellers market my friend. This was one of my big gripes with doing a tear down/reboot this year... 7 teams and counting at least 2 of which are what I would call top tier. Other than maybe some better money and a young roster what do we have to offer a guy in this position, ie hot candidate of the minute with a handful of teams to choose from? He has one goal to satisfy: find the team where he has the highest likelihood of success. Everything else.. the money, the roster, the city whatever, that all falls into place later beyond your wildest dreams if you satisfy that 1st goal. So to answer your question no, we're the ones being interviewed. I said this in the second post of this thread. Most candidates have 1 option, maybe 2. He has 3, maybe more. Regardless of whether you or I think he deserves etc etc etc. He's interviewing us.

I should clarify...Do they present him (Chip) with different scenarios i.e. "We were 3rd and 8 against this D-scheme we ran this and it didnt work, what is ur call and/or adjustment?

Usually involves an old VHS, a grainy copy of Resovir Dawgs and bottle of Wild Turkey. They'll emerge around 4am with or without all their teeth and fingers and should have an answer.

You know who might be a good QB in Chip Kelly's offense? Josh Johnson. Maybe there's a way we could pick him up.

If only there was someone at the Browns facilitating these types of moves.

In a 3 hour interview I'd consider it highly likely.

Maybe showing Shurmers gaffes and asking, "If it were you"?

Most likely a three hour interview for these positions is nothing.

Football pholosophy
Leadership evaluation
Personal attributes

So many things I'd want to know about my guy.

3 hour long interview is nothing, I've got a two day long one coming up at the end of the month. Additionally, as an educator, I'll make far less than him as well

I'm not going to be very hopeful or positive about the near and mid term future of this team. If we lock down Kelly I personally think we're going to be coach shopping again in 3 years. Sigh....

One thing is for sure, all the other SEC coaches will rejoice if Saban leaves.

The SEC is going to rue the day that they let Texas A&M into the conference.

The domination of the SEC by Alabama or LSU has just ended.

Any thoughts on him Hack? You've always been honest and was just curious what is being said about it in your neck of the woods so to speak.

Dude we're Cleveland. We could hire Bear Bryant, Vince Lombardi, Bill Belichick and Bill Walsh for a coaching staff and we'd run the whole bunch out of town in 3 years. It doesn't matter who we hire.

FWIW I'm on board with Chip if he's our guy.

So all we need to do is draft a 2nd round QB. And then Kelly start Weeden. And we'll win 13 games and lose the AFC title game.

If we hire Chip I can see us taking a flier on a Tajh Boyd or the likes later in this draft, but I just can't believe we would be dumb enough to draft a QB high to replace Weeden in this weak QB draft class.

No, if it's Chip I expect to see an up-tempo offense with Weeds in the shotgun 90% of the time. Big physical WR who like to block down field and in open space for an explosive RB in TRich. Sounds oddly similar to what Brandon ran at Okie State actually. He'll be just fine IMO.

If he keeps with Weeds this is probably the best offense he could run... just put him in something similar to what he ran in Ok State... I see us doing something similar to what NE is doing this year...

My hope if Kelly is hired (as much as I hate him and his system I want my Browns to win) and this experiment fails, my hope is that it fails massively and immediately. Like 0-16 then 1-15. That way we can fire Kelly, rebuild the roster again, and be back to competitive in the next 5-6 years. What I don't want is for us to go 6-10 then 8-8 then 7-9 then 9-7...extending the nightmare into the next decade.

Which fits our finesse/technique-centric O Linemen perfectly.

I'd like to keep Jauron as D Coordinate if we hire Chip as well. He'd bring some experience for a new NFL coach and (most importantly) would keep us in the 43.
