Just go out and interview Brad Seely. I saw more fire in that guys ST squad than ANY element since 1999!
He's Harbaughs Asst. HC.

Exactly. The whole article is nonsense and doesn't pass the smell test. The Browns-Eagles have serious offers on the table that he rejected ( and by all accounts they both did at one point in all of this anyway). Phil Knight isn't just coming a long all of a sudden to make Kelly feel better about himself. Kelly played all three teams and earned himself a big raise in the process.
If I wasn't a Browns fan I would admire him for it....well played sir....well played.

There are no offers....at least from us. We may have thought he was the guy, but after a courtship, it became apparent it wasn't going to work. Sounds like a bunch of girls I dated....and I am sure it worked that way for at least 1 of the girls. Courtships don't always end up with happy endings. It's a feeling out process.

Fair enough. I could very well be wrong, but they have come out looking like amateurs in all of this regardless of who leaked the info.
How, exactly, do we look like amateurs?
Please refrain from using conjecture.

I am not trying to find a silver lining. I am being cynical but I guess in a different way.
I guess I may have a natural affinity for the silver lining in this case because I was not a big fan of anyone on our "short list". A lot of candidates on my "short list" that I would be happy with or okay with (Whisenhut being the only one on the Browns short list). So I am not disappointed in the least that we didn't sign Kelly or Marrone.
Am I perfect? No Am I trying to be a better person? Also no

So now the story is that Kelly wanted more than what the two organizations were willing to give him?
Oh the search for the truth...

Well we have apparently been recruiting Kelly for over a month, mentioned to our backup QB that he was in the new guys plans, met with said coach of 7 hours, and had our lawyers there to present a contract to coach at a second meeting in which the coach stood us up at.
Granted these are all media reports, but I doubt there isn't any truth to all of them. Most likely we were played by Kelly to get a raise out of the Ducks. I don't see how anyone can think the Browns come out looking good in any of this. The Eagles do not either, but they do not have the stigma that is associated with this team either to deal with.
Here is to hoping they prove me wrong.

I am a life long Browns fan, and understand wanting to find the silver lining in everything....I truly do....but the older I get I am better at sniffing out a Browns cluster, and this appears to be a cluster of abysmal proportions.
As I said before, they can still make a great hire and turn this around ( Saban, Cower, etc.), but this first go around hasn't made me overly enthusiastic about them at all.
All of this is bizzaro world ..Marrone was supposed to be staying at Cuse..what happened to that? Kelly appears to be that fine woman who flirts with every powerful man then goes back to the squeeze in her life until next time..I don't think from things I read the BROWNS DID ANYTHING wrong Chipper..he played another NFL team before..remember? No it doesn't look good and I know they'll get a HC,I just can't wait to see what went dwn..I do know that his meeting with Philly was not the way it should have gone down..so he's played several teams..let the tease go back to Oregon..

Well my opinion is well documented. I haven't posted yet today as I just stopped my happy dance that started when I read the news this morning. I'm exhausted. But elated.

Want to hear something really funny? Reports are out there now that he's still might go to the Browns or Eagles. I want no part of this guy bud, and hope we have moved on for good. Let someone else deal with it.
While no one wants to listen I have said many times YTB is probably the closest to correct. Let the Lawyers handle it anything leaks your fired. If Kelly was indeed done he would have no reason to hold back his announcement.
He still may stay with Oregon but why is there no announcement? why are they reporting all of sudden Nike is offering money if there is still no money on the table? You have to use your own mind to answer those questions but you would as close to the truth and any of these so called sources they report from.
We may indeed be done or have pulled our offer off the table but no one from any camp has said anything as of yet including the man who said an announcement would be coming today.

jc...
Should Kelly indeed wind up in Cleveland or Philly, he certainly has done nothing to endear himself to fanbases which are notoriously vicious towards coaches who don't produce.

The only thing he has "done" is talk to some teams about what situation would fit him and the team best. What exactly did he do to the fan bases? The media has been all hyperboyle not him. Show me 1 quote from him over the weekend that said anything but he will explore his options.

Yeah the only thing we know for sure at this point is we don't know...lol. I would speculate that he will wind up in Oregon with a hefty raise, and that this was the reason he did this to begin with. However, that is just speculation until he does something.

The perception is that he's playing the Browns and the Eagles and wasting their time, just as he wasted TB's time last year. And, since the general public will likely never know what went on behind closed doors, perception is reality as far as the fanbases are concerned.
