My only issue with K. Shannahan is that he had RGIII playing with an injured knee today and called several designed rollouts. RGIII was obviously not a full strength, and he put him in a dangerous situation several times.
I think he tailored the O to him this season, which I like, but his play calls today at times had me wondering.
As an aside, just think if Shurmur and Heckert had been retained how boring the last week would have been on the board!

Arians can potentially get more out of an offense.
As long as you don't have Ben Rothlisberger as your QB...
I still think Ben and the lack of a running game is what plagued Pittsburgh. Arians did what he could with the lack of running push.

Jay, just a quick blurb as confirmation per an ESPN article:
Kyle Shanahan said he will comply with his father’s wishes that he not interview for jobs until Washington’s season ends.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

Thanks Toad... that's what I was thinking he said... I also read that Mike didn't want to even know if anyone had asked permission to interview with Kyle.

If Arians were younger, I'd be all over him. However, 60 years old, soon to be 61...ehhhh, I don't know.
Trestman is okay, but he probably shouldn't be a leading candidate.
Still want Whisenhunt or Lovie Smith, though. Those are the two obvious candidates who should get an interview.
you had a good run Hank.

If we truly want Shanahan, then I hope we don't botch it like we did when we went after Billick in 1999.
I have to say I'm surprised we haven't shown any interest in McCoy.

Redskins OC Kyle Shanahan interested in interviewing for head coaching job
Kyle Shanahan, the Washington Redskins‘ offensive coordinator, confirmed his desire Thursday to interview for vacant head coaching jobs when the season ends. “Yeah, definitely,” Shanahan said during his weekly press conference at Redskins Park. “I think every coach in the NFL … that’s all of our goals. Everybody wants an opportunity someday to be a head coach. I hope some day I get that opportunity.” In his third season overseeing the Redskins‘ offense, the 33-year-old Shanahan has used a variety of creative formations to help create the NFL’s top-ranked rush offense. Seven NFL head coaching jobs are open, but earlier this week Mike Shanahan said his son couldn’t interview for another job during the season.
“I did read that I wasn’t allowed to,” Kyle Shanahan said to laughter. “I didn’t know that until I read it.” Shanahan, who doesn’t have an agent, said he hasn’t been contacted by other teams, but he hasn’t answered his phone in about six months and needed to the check voice mail. For now, his focus is on Sunday’s wild card game against the Seattle Seahawks. “It’s been pretty easy to lock in,” Shanahan said. “I look forward to having the opportunity after the season.”
Kyle Shanahan Looks Forward To NFL HC Interviews
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

We still really don't have any idea who we have an interest in and who we don't. The Browns only release whatever information they choose to.
There has been a report that we are going to interview Arians though.

Oh, I know the Browns don't release things. But that doesn't mean there aren't 40 other sources out there just dying to leak information.

I'm surprised, especially with the amount of OSU homers on here, that no one has started chanting Tressel.

after getting his franchise QB killed again I dont know if he will get as many offers as he thinks. His voice mail was probably lawyers calling like the tow truck chasers. Been hurt on the job call Dewie Chasam and Howe.

Yeah I forgot, it's the OC who has total roster control and says who stays in the game and when they should come out.
What was I thinking? That falls on the OC, not the HC.

Well, the OC does call the plays, and he put RGIII in a several dangerous situations today on run plays and options. I'm just sayin'.

according to Browns they pulled out of the Kelly sweepstakes because he was wavering and not 100% committed to leaving Oregon... dunno if it's true or just trying to save face
Well, let's just say this much. He met with the Browns for 7 hours and didn't ink with us. Then he goes and does a 9 hour meeting with them and doesn't ink with them either.
Yeah, sounds to me that he wasn't 100% committed to leaving Oregon and both teams have since moved on with their searches.

NTRU jaybird but for those saying things like the Browns are on plan this or plan that, please listen to the post-Shurmur and post-Heckert press conference. There are many questions about the future front office and coaching staff in this press conference. Listen carefully to what they say. link

I just got home from a weekend vacation, I haven't read any of this thread.
I wanted Chip Kelly as much as anyone. I was checking Twitter every once in awhile and thought it was a done deal with Kelly. Then I check last night and it was Chip Kelly to Eagles, done deal. Now it's Kelly back to Oregon.
Kelly is either indecisive or playing the Browns. Neither of those things is a trait I want in my head coach.
I now have no clue who we are going to hire.

Kelly is a tease as Attack put it. Hopefully this is the last time he is asked to "revolutionize" the NFL by anyone.
I'm not a fan of Tressman or Arians, and really hope we get interviews with McCoy and Shannahan. I imagine we will make another run at Saban but I just can't see him leaving. So realistic options are something like.....
Tressman ( see Ytown for my thinking) Arians ( we want someone to be here awhile, and I don't see now a 61 yr old HC does that) McCoy ( like him but so does a lot of other teams) Shanahan (see above) Horton ( if we want him I imagine we can have him) Lovie (don't understand this guy not getting more looks....we can nave him if we choose) Whisenhunt ( I know sp is wrong..lol. see Lovie)
There are still some good guys available hopefully we get one.

The more I think about it the more I think we end up with Whisenhunt. It would be a coup if he could bring Horton with him, although I think Horton will end up the head coach of the Cardinals.

Kelly heading back to Oregon. Good for him.
ESPN making it sound like it was cleveland. He HAD to feel he wasnt going to get the support he needed or finacial stability of the team or SOMETHING!
BS! ESPN blows!
HaHa, now their trying to backtrack what the game announcers said! What a joke.

On to the next one:
Whisenhunt seems to be the front runner at this point, but that's only because he's one of the only guys available who we have interviewed. I'm thinking we try to get Saban, but he doesn't come.
Anybody is fair game at this point.

I wonder how Kelly's assistant coach who was all set to become the head coach if Kelly left feels?
2nd year in a row Kelly was leaving ...... then staying ........
I think that this has been a great ego massage for Kelly .... 2 years in a row.
If he says that he wants to consider the NFL again next year, what team is going to go all out for him? This will be 2 years in a row he's led teams on.
