Ours are good fro 7 years down here, and since my license never survives the full 7 I just renew when I get a replacement, and get another 7 years.

I beleive the cut off for eveything is six months, at least that's been my experience.

And get this Purp there's this thing called the internet and the information is available without a phone call Ohio BMV FAQ's for driver licensing

Yep, I was told 30 days before your birthday you can renew your licence, My birthday is Sept 18 and I got mine renewed Sept 2nd.

I asked them if I should hold a beer can up for my picutre, so the cop gets a real life like photo......she didnt find any humor in that at all....old bag...

They screen BMV job applicants for any sign of a sense of humor and if they find even a hint they don't hire them

I got mine renewed a few weeks ago. The lady there told me to look really drunk so when the cops pull me over, I can say that I always look like that.

LOL. She's actually a friend of mine, they all are. With my job, you get to know them pretty well. And I can understand why they get angry because my job is kinda similar. We ask for ONE piece of paper and 85% of people screw it up.

When I turned 21 this bitter woman was the one to take my picture. Well the picture was terrible so I asked to retake the picture. She told me no. I told her "I am paying for the damn thing, if I don't like the picture why can't I take another?" She told me b/c she said no. I called her a bitch right to her face and when the other woman called me up I asked her if I could retake the picture and told her what the other ladt said to me and she agreed and said "Nobody likes her. She has been here way to long"

What if you don't own a car when you go to get your driver's license?

Sure you don't mean License Tag for the car?

LOL. I just understand what they go through. People are there once a year and they can't bring what they need and they just need someone else to blame it on.

Lee, I can totally see you doing that! Did you throw crayons at her eyes after that?

I bought my car in September and my birthday is in April. They only made me pay for those months then I had to get new tags again in April.

Prorating is a rip off. My friend had to get plates for 4 months before her birthday and it cost just as much as a full year.

Well in defense of the customers.. you are right, most people go there ONCE A YEAR so it is unfair for the folks at DMV to get mad at ME because I don't know THEIR job as well as they do.... the folks at DMV expect me to know that in order to get new tags I needed to bring a drivers license, proof of insurance, a utility bill, a credit card, a passport, a social security card, and dog ownership papers....

With the internet it has gotten better and it's much easier to look up exactly what it is you need to bring to accomplish certain things, it used to be a nightmare and that's when they got the bad reputation...

I will also state that using a check-in desk where you go first and they make sure you have all of the documents you need BEFORE you wait an hour for your name to be called has also helped...

It's just like you to over exagerate everything.

I can understand an honest mistake or someone who's new to the state, but what's wrong with calling first? That would save so much time.

I've had people ask me to do the stupidest things, it could be impossible with the information they give me or just plain old illeagal. When I say 'No, I can do this', they get mad at me. I didn't make the laws, I just have to follow them.

That's a good idea! But, in Ohio, our tags would go up another $30 just to cover their payroll.

I don't have my SS# on my driver's license, so I have to remember to take my actual SS card with me every time I go....which, I do. If I would happen to forget it, it's my fault, not theirs. But, when I do show up they roll their eyes and say, "We need your social security card". I whip it out and toss it on the counter. They seem surprised sometimes.

And, can anyone tell me why I pay the same to put plates on a silly pop-up camper as I do my car?? That's just dumb. Ohio is a huge rip off when it comes to plating RVs and boats. I have to get the kayaks licensed, too. What a joke...I'm the motor!

I forgot about the people who wait until the very last day and expect Moses to be there working miracles at the BMV.

Again, not my fault.

Every time I go there is always one person getting an attitude and making a scene with the workers b/c they wouldn't take just their license as their only form of ID (Instead of the birth cert, SS Card, ect) As long as I can remember you always had to have at least 2 forms of ID to get a state ID. They scream at the poor bastage like they personally just created the rule to mess with that customer only.

The one guy with the pony tail does go through the line periodically to check everybody's stuff...that did help with weeding people out and not making them wait so long when they didn't have everything they need.

Just clickin,

Not all the bureaus require 2 forms of ID. My parents like to go to the Darke county one cause they only require 1 ID and the lines aren't as long as our county's

Call first? In SW Florida, you talk to a machine, and there are no walk-ins, appointments only, and even with an appointment, it's a 60-90 min wait, only open Tue-Fri 9am-4pm, Sat 8am-12pm.

And they are the most unpleasant, non-helpful, impolite people I have ever dealt with. Oh, and CASH only, although there was not one sign anywhere that said so, I even double checked. The girl said, "it is on the phone message."

Yeah like I'm going to listen to your damn message for 20 mins , all I need to do is renew. here's my $55, now give me a new license.
