Moore at OLB would be my choice.

Ansah is pretty much the definition of what Horton wants: a big guy that can run and line up all over the front 7

I like Rhodes too, he's a solid category no2 player for me. I thought about including him on my 2nd list but he just missed my confidence cut, because of speed concerns (combine and pro day will be huge for him and the likes of Wreh-Wilson). In terms of talent and game, I agree Rhodes is a top 3 CB in this draft. I have him slightly over Trufant as my no 3 behind Milliner, Banks. I like a lot of CBs in this class and there are some pretty good press and man CBs in this draft. J.Taylor, Wreh-Wilson and Alford are very underrated too imho....I'm confident we could draft a starting caliber no2 CB with pick no68, as at least 1 of those (and maybe Poyer falling) will be there. That's why I'd like to add 1 or 2 picks in that 40-100 area

You and Peen should read that closely, some very important hints to VALUE in there :

http://www.thehuddlereport.com/articles/draftrules.shtml

1. Workouts should confirm what you already know.

2. How a player plays the game is just as important as any stat.

3. Numbers don’t lie, but they don’t tell the whole story.

4. Character is as important as talent.

5. Your team will not win if they draft criminals.

6. The Combine should be for medical evaluations and for coaches to interview players on coachability — not to evaluate talent or second guess scout evaluations.

7. Scouts evaluate talent; they do not draft, or slot, players.

8. Coaches coach talent. History proves most, if not all are not good talent evaluators.

9. GM’s & coaches place the value of a player to the team; scouts cannot because they are too close to the player’s profile.

10. Many times, scouts plant “inside” details to manipulate and gather more information.

11. Don’t just draft a guard. Draft centers who can play guard and guards that can play center.

12. Drafting a franchise left tackle improves three positions: LT, LG & QB. Drafting a franchise center improves, center, guards and confidence on the rest of the line as well as the offensive coordinator and QB. I love drafting offensive linemen!

13. I love drafting offensive lineman, but you should be able to find a RG standing in the check-out line at Walmart. If he doesn’t play center or left guard, let the other teams draft him.

14. Pass rushing is not a specialty. It should be included in the evaluation of the DE or LB position in their totality.

15. Tackling, or lack thereof, is a priority and the first skill I look for when evaluating all defensive positions. A CB can cover like a blanket, but if he doesn’t want to tackle, he is worthless.

16. Insisting your team has to draft a certain player or the whole draft is a failure is a trap. The 2-board system shows you the talent in every round. No need to panic.

17. Every round must be looked at like it is as important as the first round. The goal must be to draft talent and value in every round. No more Mr. Irrelevant. It’s an insult to the player selected.

18. Bad teams in top ten should trade down whenever possible for more picks in the “present” draft and not for future picks. Future picks are for future GM’s and coaches.

19. Never trade out of the top ten when you need a QB.

20. Sell the farm (mother, wife included) to move up in a draft if you think a QB is a franchise QB and your teams needs one. Just ask for visitation rights for mom and a conjugal visit for the wife!

21. Drafting BPA is nice to say, but don’t believe it; pretty much everyone is drafting for needs.

22. If a Head Coach blows a top ten selection because of character issues, you can bet he will be fired in about three years — sometimes sooner.

23. Don’t believe the crap that this is a passing league. There are maybe five franchise QB’s in the league. The rest need the threat of a good RB to be effective.

24. WR’s and RB’s can be found in any round in the draft, but there are exceptions to every rule.

25. LB’s do not have to run 4.30 40-yd dashes. They just have to be smart enough to know how not to get beat by an opponent who can run a 4.30 forty

Nice background story, expect much more of this with our "consensus" guys instead of a player board:

Ex-NFL scout Bryan Broaddus on how Cowboys passed on Eagles' RB LeSean McCoy in 2009 draft

SportsDayDFW.com

Published: 17 February 2013 01:58 AM

Former NFL scout Bryan Broaddus joined KRLD-FM 105.3 to talk about the draft and the Cowboys. Here are some highlights.

On the draft board and 'leapfrogging' to fill a need:

Bryan Broaddus: That's where they get in trouble. If you go back to the 2009 draft, they sat there and they had LeSean McCoy with a first-round grade. The problem was, they weren't willing to take LeSean McCoy. That's the issue. Don't windowdress your board. They're sitting there in the second round and they've got LeSean McCoy with a first-round grade on their board. That's value. They did it (got it right) with Sean Lee, they did it with Bruce Carter. They sat there, they took the guy that was on the board that they were supposed to take. Mistakes are made when you jump around on the board. Jerry's done it a couple of different times. The Quincy Carter draft, we had Kendrell Bell there, first-round grade, ends up going the second round; goes right behind us to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ends up being AFC defensive rookie of the year. And then we take Quincy Carter. That was a forced pick right there. You had a guy there you had a better grade on, you probably could have got Quincy Carter later in the draft. That's where you get in trouble leapfrogging around.

On getting a pick right:

Bryan Broaddus: Once that board is set, those are the guys you're going to take. We're sitting in the third round and all of a sudden you get a first-round grade on Jason Witten. Jerry looks up at the board and says I think we need to take Jason Witten here boys. Those are the positive things that happen.

On the 2009 draft and the fact that the Cowboys may have no players from that draft when next season begins:

Bryan Broaddus: That's the problem. Those are the guys that should be your core players. They got nobody from that draft and I believe they had 12 picks in that draft. That's the fault of of the scouting department and the general manager.

Funnily enough, I couldn't find any actual qualifications for Drew Boylhart to set these rules.

As far as I can tell, he is just a guy like you or me who likes to talk football, so I'm going to assume the rules that I lay out are just as valid as his when it comes to knowledge.

1. Being dominant in one area is more valuable than being above average in multiple areas. The best teams all have holes, but are all utterly dominant in at least one area of the game. Being a jack of all trades and a master of none wins no championships.

2. When possible, draft the best player available no matter the position. This can be the difference between winning and losing. Don't draft Kamerion Wimbley over Haloti Ngata just because OLB is supposedly of more value than NT. Great players will make an impact, not middle of the pack players in positions of more traditional importance.

3. Consistently investing high picks in your OL will pay off, and can make mediocre QBs look good. See Smith, Alex.

4. Never drink blue alcohol after 12 AM. That's just good advice.

5. A solid running game paired with a play action pass offense is still a legitimate offense in this crazy pass happy league.

6. Try and get ridiculously lucky and draft a HOF QB in the 6th round.

7. Also, after you have drafted that QB, remember to film Super Bowl opponents signals. That'll probably help.

8. If Bill Simmons constantly says that God hates your city as a way of explaining away your sports teams' woes, try hating God back. What's the worst that could happen?

9. The back up QB is not better than the starter. EVER. Even if you have evidence to the contrary. Shut up already.

10. If the back up QB starts winning a ridiculous amount of games and plays really well after the starter was injured, he was totally always better than the starter.

11. Try to hire a guy named Harbaugh to be your head coach.

12. Being able to play multiple positions is not the same thing as being good at all of those positions. Take an awesome guard over a mediocre guard/center/tackle hybrid. One guy is awesome, the other merely good.

13. If a guy looks to be an awesome receiver but has some character concerns, you should probably spend a second round pick on him in the supplemental draft.

14. Troegenator Double Bock is an awesome beer. Try it some time.

15. Ask for other people to add on to your list of rules when you finally tire of writing a list of arbitrary rules. Also, good job on fixing your habit of dropping balls, keep up the good work and good blocking.

16. Hopefully additional rules will keep the numerical order. Sad to see you leave, buddy.

17. Braylon Edwards sucks.

The ILB candidate I've been pimping since the NFLPA game, Jordan Campbell, put up 39 reps at 225. He posted it on youtube if you want to check it out.

http://cornerblitz.com/2013/Features/UTR-Jordan-Campbell.aspx

Under The Radar: Jordan Campbell

Linebacker -- New Mexico Highlands
Jordan Campbell was a standout player in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl held in Loas Angeles, CA this year. He's fast and active and a strong tackler. This guy closes on you and hits and wraps. Campbell looks like a guy that really relished playing the game. He's short (5'10") for a linebacker, but he's very sturdy at 244 pounds and appears to be a weight room guy. At that size, he is basically the same size as Zach Thomas and London Fletcher (who you might say did alright as NFL linebackers.) He looks to me to be a good candidate as a SILB in a 3-4 or a Mike or Sam in a 4-3.

I wondered how he ended up at New Mexico Highlands of all places. Turns out he was a recruit at USC and played there his freshman and sophomore years. He fell out of favor with head coach Lane Kiffin, and like Jarvis Jones, transferred out of USC to Louisville when the NCAA sanctions came in. His time at Louisville was marred by injuries and rumored dealings with an agent, resulting in him finally landing at New Mexico Highlands. Seeing where Jones' career has gone and is going, he has to be wondering what could have been if things had worked out at USC.

As a senior at New Mexico Highlands, Campbell summed 107 tackles, including 24.0 TFLs, 12 sacks, 8 QB Hits, and 3 forced fumbles. His junior year at NMH, he had 110 tackles, 28.5 TFLs, 5 sacks, 2 INTs, 5 Passes Defensed. The stats really show a consistent, dominating all-around player. These are really incredible numbers for someone at the linebacker position, but as we all know stats don't always tell the whole story. Below are his highlights from his senior season.

Jordan Campbell might end up being the most underdrafted player this year, but he needs to find a spot. There are several reasons a team might give pause to drafting him: the level of competition he faced was among the lowest of all the NFL draft prospects, essentially being benched at USC, having to transfer schools twice, and his short stature. Campbell doesn't have the benefit of an NFL Combine invite, so his platform to sit down and explain himself to teams isn't as great, but it will only take one team to give him a shot, and I firmly believe when he gets that shot he will make his squad very happy and 31 other teams kick themselves for not taking a chance on him.

Doubt it.. For us anyways...

My take on our future drafting is unless they are a name, or went to a big school, Lombardi will have no interest in them...

It's all about winning the Immediate Draft Grade...

Part of it I guess.

He comes across as a guy who'd rather agree with the Kipers and McShays of the world so that they say nice things about his draft as opposed to going out and gettin a guy who may not be that popular of a choice.

Example would be Seattle taking Bruce Irvin. They were basically laughed at by most. Seems like a good choice now.

I don't ever see Lombardi/Banner takin a Bruce Irvin. More likely a Vernon Gholston. .

A few mocks I've seen show Barrett available in the 3rd. I doubt he'll get out of the 2nd. But I would sure fire take him if he's there and put him at guard.

Thomas, Jones, Mack, Lavoau/Pinkston/Greco, Schwartz.

That's a nice line with depth and flexibility. Thats really, really young.

Mour. Ansah and Jordan are going to be the 2 that go high based on upside. No thanks. I want proven production at the collegiate level.

This is a 3 way street for me and I don't care if we sign a CB and an OLB in Free Agency. And Kruger is majorly over-rated and Spencer is getting older along with Phillips. I'd stay far away from both Kruger and Spencer and bring in a Phillips as a stop-gap. Much cheaper. I'd also bring Toler in here at CB from Horton's Zona Defense.

Now to the draft. We've signed 2. Both will be cap friendly.

Phillips OLB
Toler CB

Now spend the money and get Vasquez from SD and a solid FS. Still major cap space left. And sign Smith as our blocking TE. Then go to the draft.

At 6 you take Moore or Jones. (Jones is a STUD if even for only 7 years)
At 68 you take a Kelce TE to go with Cameron.

And if Moore and Jones are both gone? I move down and let someone have Milliner and get Banks CB in that move down but ONLY if Moore and Jones are off the board.

You see what I did there with Free Agency? Opened major possibilities.

Say NO to Kruger and Spencer. Go after Ellerbe ILB if he hits the market.

I don't disagree with that, and mostly don't disagree with Djanjos list....good read. I'd still take Warmack

That said, the strength of this draft is on the defensive side IMO, and that works out well for us this year since we need to give the D a little love with some draft picks.

On O, the line is pretty good, good enough at this point. Our receivers look to be a pretty good group that are going to get better. Richardson is a very good back, though it wouldn't hurt to look for more depth, but you can find good depth backs in rounds 3-4. We need to look at TE, but again, you can pluck out decent tight ends all over the draft board, plus, I think Jordon is going to fly in this O.

QB seems to be the sticking point, but there aren't any out there this year who simply stand out, so it is probably best to bring in a free agent....Anderson, Moore, whoever, and allow Weeden the chance to play some to see if possibly Homie and Heck got it right with the kid. Shurmer didn't do Weeden any favors last year.

Go D this year. Unless some offensive guy simply falls in to our laps this year, I'd seriously look at the first 4 picks being on the defensive side of the ball. Chud and Turner are almost like drafting offensive players. They are going to be a big boost to the unit. Shurmer was like a ball and chain on our O, IMO.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

They are the unit that allows everybody else to score points... and anyway, we already have 2 2nd round WRs, a first round RB, a first round QB... what else should we add that does score points?

Just saying .....

Switching from the 4-3 to the 3-4 .... we should be targeting front 7 players, specifically at LB.

If we invest any picks on offense at this point, it probably better be a TE, and not a high pick. (Unless the Browns decide that Flacco is a franchise level guy, and Baltimore doesn't give him the exclusive tag .... and then trading picks might make sense)

Weird thing is that Massaquoi would probably fit this offense ....... if he could ever stay healthy.

I think that he hustled ...... he just always got hurt. He must have never figured out how to stretch his hamstrings or something.

Why do you think MoMass would fit this offense? He's never been a vertical threat. He isn't particularly strong off the line or on the ball. He has decent to good hands and can run a route tree. IMO, he's definitely more a fit for the WCO. I'd be surprised if he was a Brown next year.

Unfortunately for Mo, he isn't much good to any team because he can't stay on the field. ::shrug::

The next time Mass fights for a ball, attacking it at its highest point, will be the first time he's done it. Watch Boldin. Every ball that's in the air he attacks as though he's the only one with rights to it. Over and over again in the playoffs he just out battled DBs for the ball. I've never seen Mass play like that. Never.
If I'm a WR coach I'm putting tape of Boldin in front of my squad and letting them know that that is what I expect from them.

Regrading the 2012 draft in the AFC North

the rest of the AFC NORTH is in the link

CLEVELAND BROWNS

Key picks: RB Trent Richardson, QB Brandon Weeden, OT Mitchell Schwartz.

Kiper's post-draft grade: B-minus.

Kiper's new grade: B.

Hensley's comment: Richardson, Weeden and Schwartz were all three immediate starters. Richardson is a Pro Bowl talent, and Schwartz will be a starter for a long time. What keeps the Browns from getting a higher grade was Weeden's disappointing rookie season. There's also promise on the defensive side of the ball with picks like linebacker James-Michael Johnson and defensive linemen Billy Winn and John Hughes. Winn, in particular, was a great value. Travis Benjamin likely will make an impact as a returner. Let's see how the Browns fare in this year's draft without Tom Heckert.

nice little jab at Cleveland for getting rid of Heckert.

Meh.

I'm not opposed to Warmack... But isnt Barret Jones the better lineman? I know he played center last year, but the kid can play any spot on the line and excelled at each. Including Left Tackle.

I wouldn't say that Barrett Jones is better, but I would not be opposed to drafting him either. He would be better at the guard spots than what we currently have and his versatility to play anywhere on the line is a bonus. He would allow you to have quality play at anywhere along the line even if there was injury (to anyone but him).

If we could somehow pick up an extra 2nd rounder, I wouldn't be opposed to getting him instead of Warmack and put him opposite Levitre.

But, if I were to go for a pure mauling guard, I'd rather have Warmack over Barrett Jones.

Boldin came back in 2 weeks after breaking his face when he was with Arizona.

there are guys who think they are tough, then there are guys like Boldin. I absolutely hate that he's on Baltimore.

If they allow the team to score points, I don't really care how many points they don't score. Give me wins! It's what San Fran did and they've been to the NFC Championship in two consecutive seasons with one of them being to the Super Bowl. And... for a blown non-call on BallsNoMore, they would have probably won the Super Bowl.

Mo, as a rookie, was a great down field threat. He averaged over 18 yards/catch. Even last year, he was able to go for damn near 15 yards/catch. Last year he showed an ability to get open deep. (much as he did as a rookie) He just didn't get the ball every time he was open. He's never been a tremendous route runner, though he did, finally, improve on this aspect of his game last year.

Mo's major problem, though, has always been that he cannot stay healthy.

We'll have to agree to disagree. I know what I saw on the field. Mo was never a down field threat.

We are in agreement about him being injury-prone, however. That said, I suppose the rest of his (debatable) value to any team is really moot.

15 yards is not a downfield threat. Especially, when the QB has problems throwing underneath and can only hit WR's over the top.

That's BS. In his first 3 years he started 38 of 48 possible starts and played in 45 of them.

His "major poblem" is and always was that he lacks talent: he's a backup no2 WR, basically an average no4 WR on an average NFL WR depth chart, which are dime a dozen. He lacks quickness and toughness for the slot, has zero ST value and as a starter on the outside is well below AVG, I'd say that at least 75% of NFL starters have been better and/or more consistent the 3 years he started. He has no trait where he's above league AVG: he has AVG hands, below AVG separation skills and speed and is flat out the worst WR I have ever seen when the ball is in the air. He's the WR version of Colt McCoy

Dee Milliner faces torn labrum surgery

Updated: February 21, 2013, 7:17 AM ET
By Adam Schefter | ESPN

Alabama's Dee Milliner, projected to be the top cornerback in this draft and a top-five selection, will undergo surgery on a torn labrum in his right shoulder after this week's scouting combine, according to league sources.

However, even with the injury, Milliner will do every workout drill at the combine except for the bench press and there is optimism about his availability for training camp.

"The doctors have informed us that he will be 100 percent and fully recovered in time for training camp in July," said Tony Fleming, one of Milliner's reps with Impact Sports. "We will be providing all NFL clubs information prior to surgery and updates close to the draft."

Milliner suffered the injury at some point last season and played with and through it. It will not prevent him from participating in this week's combine, but it will sideline him from Alabama's Pro Day.

One reason Milliner is considered a likely top-five pick is because every team picking high needs help at the cornerback position and he was considered the best of a solid group that also includes Florida State's Xavier Rhodes, Mississippi State's Johnthan Banks, and Washington's Desmond Trufant.

The story of this season's combine before it has begun is injuries. USC quarterback Matt Barkley will not throw due to a shoulder injury and Milliner's college teammate Eddie Lacy, projected to be the top running back in this draft, will not work out due to a hamstring injury.

YTown. That right there IS in fact an inability to stay on the field. You are correct. And massive amounts of training camp time missed doesn't help the situation. Nor does his numerous concussions.

DJ. Nice slam on a Mangini screw up in round 2. We all know it was. But the dude can't stay on the field regardless of how you spin it.

DA was the starting QB in 7 games of MoMass's rookie year in 2009 when he had his 18.4 ypc.. Brady Quinn started the others.

And to be fair, he did have an 18.4 ypc average, but he also only caught 2 balls a game and he only went over 85 yards twice... it's not like he was lighting it up, he was making 1 or 2 long catches a game most games and not much else... In fact in 9 of 16 games he had 1 catch.

This injury shouldn't affect Milliner if he is the shutdown corner everyone says he is.

Wowser, Sharpe over Carradine and Mingo now? That's gutsy. I watched him vs USC and he was shut down for the most part in that game.

Not a big fan of Dian Jordan, huh? I'm torn on him, from what I've seen he's been mostly "meh", not bad, but didn't stand out much.

I also like Walter Stewart, but don't think he's draftable because of his medical.

Nice list overall.

That said, you need to overhaul your FS list. I know you love Elam but he's not and never will be a FS. Poyer as a FS? That's a first, never thought about that. Another CB who can easily play FS is J.Banks, he's got some M.Jenkins to his game. Seeing my man Swearinger only 8th on that list almost made me cry He looked like one of the best, if not the best pure FS to me.

Nice, Joe Kruger as your 5th 5T. He's one of my 3rd day sleeper favs.

Where's Johnny Adams??? Didn't I pimp him enough? You're still pretty down on Wreh-Wilson, and I got torn on him too now. His forty this weekend will be crucial. I like his tape. Have the same top 5 players, just in another order. Mainly Banks is my no2 guy, the rest we pretty much agree. Overall it's a pretty strong and deep CB class.

We also agree on the top 5 RBs, order may be slightly different, but those 5 are the top 5 (you have L.Bell twice on your list btw)

The ILB class must suck when J.Jones is listed 4th, lol
