Me too, I was worried about 11 million or so.

Yeah me too. I easily thought Kruger was going to be 10 Mil +. I think this is actually a fairly good deal if true.
Go Browns!!

Same here. I don't hate those numbers.

Agree... MUCH MUCH more on board with this if it's in the 8-9M per range...

No way we sign BOTH.
Right......?
It may sound sacrilegious to many Browns fans, but it's entirely possible because this regime could see Sheard as only a 4-3 DE, in which case they go ahead and sign two OLB's then open up the trade market on Sheard to try and get a 2nd rounder back.
If the head honchos agree on Sheard as a high-risk at OLB, then it makes perfect sense to go ahead and get two new OLB's for the 3-4.
We can speak about whether a guy can convert or not (I believe Sheard stands a solid chance) but we aren't armed with all the film the organization is.

What makes Avril more likely to be able to successfully switch positions that Sheard doesn't have? Also, Avril would cost a ton.

I agree. If we were still 4-3. signing Avril made sense to me. But I feel better with Kruger because at least this guy played 3-4. There's no position switch

MY GUYS on the radio in Columbus just mentioned Groves AND said there are rumblings of Greg Jennings. They also mentioned rumblings of Phil Taylor on the trade block... When they say 'rumblings' they always tell you to take w a grain of salt...

Yeah guy on Ravens cam said Ravens wont' be signing him n Browns close to a contract n not as much as reported...closer to 8 mil not the 12...Banner might be good at this
As for Sheard - not me who brought up trade eligible for a First rounder...I'm not looking to trade him...I hope we develop him - Definitely want us to draft 1 that is 100%. If Sheard works out? great...3-4 you can not have too many LBs who can rush the passer. Never a mistake!
So on passing downs we bring in Sheard n pass rush w/Ansah, Kruger n Sheard...we just took a weakness n made it into a strength ahhhh...Freaking Storm...satellite searching for SIGNAL JMHO
Defense wins championships. Watson play your butt off! Go Browns! CHRIST HAS RISEN! GM Strong! & Stay safe everyone!

And I'm sure it's backloaded... so this won't cut into our cap space very much. Should still have over 40M to spend!

Don't know much about Groves, as for Phil Taylor, I think that's a terrible idea.
And I like the idea of Greg Jennings, we need a veteran WR on this team. I dunno if he'll get a ton of balls thrown his way, but he might be a leader for the WRs (and an offensive team leader) that this team needs.

This'll get me banned, but NFL Network just confirmed Kruger is a Brown, and I love it.
Can't get me banned now as it's confirmed with a link. Take that, Ref's

Ditto.
I am very happy with this signing.

Sheard's numbers dropped a bit last year for a couple of reasons. Big Phil injured, Joe Haden suspension, Rubin Injured
Sheard was asked to play a more disciplined edge this year, which he did. He was very good against the run but his pass rush slipped a bit because some of those doubles that were going after our interior now is going at him.
As was mentioned in an article posted here... "You get success from players by asking them to do what they do best".
I worry about many of our current front 7 transferring to the 3-4. People can say anything they wish to say, but the NFL is littered all over the place from tweeners being transferred to the 3-4 and never being able to duplicate their production and numbers they had playing in the 4-3.
Having said that, I feel the one player we have on our front seven with the best odds of being good and playing very well in the 3-4 is Sheard. He was really the only player in our front seven that was anywhere close to an elite pass rusher.
I would see trading him as a HUGE mistake! Opposing D's figured out he was the key to stopping our pass rush after his rookie season and they focused on stopping him. By having a second pass rush guy, this could only help to elevate Sheards production.
To me, you don't trade off a proven player for a gamble draft pick. All drafted players are a gamble. I don't see taking a gamble for a proven commodity.

Sheard will be fine and I honestly expect great things from him this year. It may come in the 2nd half of the season but it will come.
Once again, any time you ask a guy to play a new position in an entirely new scheme, there are risks he may not make that transition. But as I stated, I feel our best option to accomplish this lies with Sheard.

Kruger and Sheard is a nice combination at OLB but I would not be surprised if we were to add Jones on draft day. Keep everyone fresh with 3 man rotation.
I agree that having threats on both OLB will help both produce more since they really can't focus on both of them at the same time. We need a combination of this nature if we plan on having a real impact on our D's pass rushing ability over all.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

There is a point to this. I mean, the Giants have 3 pass rushers and they've done pretty well with that formula. Although Tuck sometimes rushes from the DT position, but it still works

Rubin? Yes.
A 3rd year NT/DT? Eh. I'd need more. Not that I'd wanna trade him.
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

We'd be losing a guy who should be an above average starter and gaining a pick where we'd be hard-pressed to replace him. Maybe if it was #14 and a 3rd or 4th and we could get Datone Jones at #14.
