They wouldn't be piling on because it's you. They'd be piling on because you're warring with Mac over the title of "Offensive Line Guy" and would spend $65 Mill a year on the line if you could.

Nah. I wouldn't spend that kind of money on my OL, but I'd get the best starters on my OL as I could reasonably get and I wouldn't be afraid of getting rid of players that still have some value and getting something of value in return. I don't hold onto them longer than I should just to see them leave in free agency and hope that they produce for my 5-11 team again.

LOL Toad there is a reason I have always respected you so much. You always say it just like it is 8)

To be honest I am already tired of hearing about so and so is a long and respected poster. Want my respect then talk football, pure and simple. Whether you have 100 posts or 10,000 people are just posting their opinions. Believe me when I say whether its my two favorite posters like Overtoad and Eotab if I have an opinion and I have the energy to type it the post count or time registered means nothing to me the same as it does anywhere I chat.

Respect the discussion not a person's seniority or post count. Make an argument or case not a cop out. One of the many reasons I have huge respect for overtoad even from back in the day. If he has an argument he uses football and not bs to argue it. Not saying he is god or always right but then none of us are. Glad to be reading your posts again Overtoad but I miss that big old bullfrog you used to have as your icon 8)

You need to check yourself. Mourg is another long-time, well-respected DT'er. You just arrived at this board and you're almost about his "every post" and "moving on." All he did was share his opinion. It doesn't appear he went on some irrational rampage or doesn't let things go. He shared his opinion respectfully and deserves to be respected in turn.

Back to the thread: I think the new regime is focusing on improvements. Not necessarily in the areas I expected outside of OLB, but I am really curious as to what their plan is to fix the glaringly obvious holes in the secondary.

Hehe...I figured it was just a matter of time before us long-time posters on this forum looked at some of the new guys and started sounding like the old guy who yells at the kids to get off his lawn

I don't like doing that, but honestly, to come here, post 10 times then start bashing long time posters... I don't know, that seems a little dumb. I don't think I'm the only one that feels that way.

at one point... we were all the "new guy" it doesn't mean that we should give or get any more respect as the new person just because of how many posts they have. That is how you get a super small community that never has new people on it. They all end up with like minds minus a few fools that like to argue.

At the end of the day if you think Weeden is the next Peyton Manning... or I think he is old and should be backing up McCoy who also should be a backup to a better QB doesn't matter- what matters is that we are talking Browns football. We are all talking about the team and the city we love and at the end of the day... none of us have any bit of control over who is cut who we sign or what player starts.

I want this board to keep getting new people with new perspectives on it. I personally have invested some of my own money to make sure it keeps going. I want people to have different opinions. I
want to see the whole first page filled with new articles and comments when I check back.

I don't want it to be a place where people check back and there are 3 new comments after a whole day.

Now here is a person I can respect and who gets it. Glad to meet you 8)

He is absolutely right. Whether a person should be listened to or not should be based solely on what what they wrote and they argument they make is THAT post. Because you have a lot of new posters here with a LOT of football knowledge. Even if it was just a few new members you still dont know what a person knows except in what they share in their posts. I mean heck I could easily post 2000 posts in one day if I wanted to. Well maybe not easily LOL but you get my point.

Fellow dawgs let the strength of your bite come from the quality of your post and argument and not on your post count 8)

What you are stating I need to make a 1,000+ post in order to state the truth! Shurmur's record speaks for itself. I happen to like Mangini's style of football, but what do I know I only made half a dozen posts. Making a statement calling Mangini an idiot and saying Shurmur was better is kind of silly. It took Shurmur two years before he was able to win 5 games in a single season. Mangini was able to beat New England, Pitt, and New Orleans yet he's an idiot. Excuse me, I, with less than 10 post, have an opinion.

Jester asked..."Can you explain what you mean by this?"

Yes. Mangini's first year, with his "old" players, won 5 games. It took Shurmur two years in order to match five wins in a single season. He stated major improvement. I disagree. Per dawglover05, I need to make a certain number of posts to dislike a statement made.

I'm not going to make this a Mangini post, but I do take offense hearing people calling Mangini an idiot. Mourgrym dislikes Mangini style of football...so what! It's over. Browns have Haslam/Banner. Why keep bringing up the past rubbing new or old posters the wrong way?

I understand that Sup but to bash long time posters is certainly not the way to endear yourself to the rest of the board. What message does that send.

Someone else said it, it's like being invited to someones home for dinner, then knock hell out of the food. You can't do that without expecting some kinda negative backlash.

I see you haven't changed much. Still trying to pile on from the bottom.

This long-time poster BS is just that. Get over yourselves.

I like Mourg a lot and he didn't say anything wrong, but cool it w/telling new guys they can't express themselves.

We could use another analogy here. You invite a guy who is new to your neighborhood to your home from dinner and then proceed to tell him what a loser he is. How your house is nicer than his. Your kids are smarter. You have a better job. Your cars are nicer. Your wife is hotter.

It's*all BS!

Mangini's idiotic decisions are a big part of the discussion regarding the previous regime. We were the slowest team in the NFL on both sides of the ball. We were the oldest team in the NFL. There is no upside to that formula. It took 3 years just to clean up the mess he made.

Heckert replaced old and slow with young and fast. Schurmur's staff, some of which were hold overs were excellent teachers and it is why we saw rapid growth from our young team. You may not like what Heckert, Holmgren and Shurmur accomplished here in terms of stats but there is a reason everyone in the league is talking about this young up and coming team.

Right now we have a solid roster to build upon. There is no need for a massive overhaul even though we have switched from a bend dont break 4-3 to a 3-4 blitzkrieg and from the small ball wco to the vertical stretch air coryell. That says a hell of a lot about the talent we have acquired.

Seeing this is a Banner & Chud Focus on Improvements post. I'll stop out of respect to CalDawg. I spoke my disagreement with your "idiot" statement. I will gladly friendly debate if you wish to start another thread.

Haslam/Banner's decision switching from an old fashion style read and react 4-3 and standard 80's WCO scheme building an attacking 3-4 and vertical stretch offense is exactly the direction needed. Luckily Heckert assembled multidimensional players who are capable of switching. If you want to get technical, Heckert was his own worst enemy. He added players who fit more to Chud's coaching schemes rather than Holmgren/Shurmur's. I don't think Chud's offense schemes will go the "air coryell" route. I see more a balance attack run/pass. I will give Chud an A+ for the people he assembled in his staff.
