Interesting it was a ham sandwich option at 4:20pm. Someone has the munchies....

Purely coincidence. If you have the munchies you want much better than a ham sandwich.

As for the topic at hand, I mean our TE's right now are a joke. Maybe we could use a punchline.

No, no, and no.

No to his knees; no to him; and no to his dad. We already have people who can hold when needed. No.

I guess I'm in the minority here.

There are obviously a lot of factors pointing to him being done in the NFL, but they are also reporting that he's as healthy as he's been in a long time.

If the team felt he could contribute, I say why not. It's not like we're loaded at that position.

If his knees aren't overly limiting him like they were, then why wouldn't you take a look at him?

I would... Hell yeah I would. Nothing to lose, sign him to a contract that gives him league minimum, with incentives for playing time, catches, TD's and some other measurables.

Why the hell not..

Problem is, he won't participate in camp after he signs. It will be a "my knees aren't good, I can't waste them on practice" kind of thing.

Yep. His knees hasn't been right since his Tri-C Angels on wheels tryouts.

I liked him before but with the signing of Kellen Davis we already have a bust named Kellen at the TE position so we should pass.

AP - Kellen Winslow Jr. and Marcus Benard will be producing a motorcycle riding video with a guest appearance by Ben Roethlisberger. The video will feature tricks, stunts and a contest to see who can bounce the highest while maintaining a valid NFL contract. KW2 is confident he can land such a contract before shooting starts.

It's amazing how many people that I'm assuming have made stupid mistakes and questionable decisions in their life that are much less successful than Kellen will ever be are able to sit behind a computer and rip on him for the same dumb joke the past 8 years or whatever.

Any joke that lasts for 8 years isn't dumb,it's a classic. And there are reasons why classics are, well, classic.
KW2 isn't successful,he is unfulfilled potential, because of his stupid mistake.

I'm not going to make jokes about Winslow .... but the fact is that he never could become what his talent promised. He should have been one of the greatest of all time at the TE position. Instead, he wrecked his knees, couldn't run effectively, definitely couldn't block effectively, and overall destroyed his career.

He should have been Antonio Gates +. He should have put up 900-1200 yard seasons in his sleep, and should have been a double digit TD machine.

Instead he broke 1000 yards only once, hit only 5 TD for a season high, and instead of being a force down the middle of the defense, he was a very generic target, who was a 10-11 yards/reception kind of his guy for every single year of his career except one. His knee injuries robbed him of all of the explosiveness, suddenness, and speed that he once had. It's a shame, because when he came into the league, people thought that we would refer to his father (The Hall of Famer) as "Kellen Winslow Jr's dad" ....... but that's nothing like what happened. Winslow had one good year, a couple of decent years, and the rest was nothing special at all.

What a shame.

Are we talking about the same guy who thought his crap didn't stink but everybody elses did. The same guy who refused to sign autographs because his wife told him that "Those little brats didn't deserve his autograph" You mean that Kellen Winslow? Hell I wouldn't pay that jackbutt to even be the waterboy on our team. He deserves nothing from the team or the fans since that is what he gave to all of us.

lol thanks BpG, thought i would start with something new with the board change.

Wow forgot about akronjoe....he doesn't post here anymore?

On a joking side....Speaking of ham sandwich, i'm sure if you did an MRI on Winslow's knees....that's pretty much what it would look like.

Amazing how much talent that guy had...and for it to go to waste on that dumb accident. I think the only thing that would've held him down, if it never happened would've been our lackluster Qb's we've had over the years from being one of the best. Well that or his ego

Yeah as the guy was a cancer to begin with. Still would be a cancer despite having all the talent that he had but wasted it!

Will we rue the day?

Fred Davis vows regret for those who don't sign him

Posted by Mike Florio on March 27, 2013, 7:18 AM EDT

It’s day 15 of free agency, and plenty of recognizable names remain available.

One of the most recognizable names belongs to one of the 21 franchise players from 2012: tight end Fred Davis.

Eventually, Davis will have a team. Eventually, Davis believes the other teams that don’t put him on their team will regret it.

“A lot of people are looking at the [Achilles] injury and that stuff,” Davis said during an appearance on NFL Network, via Conor Orr of the Newark Star-Ledger. “I definitely feel like whatever team signed any tight ends right now, I’m gonna make them regret anything that they do — AND the Redskins, too, as well — because I know I’m gonna go out here and I’m gonna do what I have to do. And I’ll bet you next year’s gonna be a good year for me. This is the one right here. This is the big one. You ever watch Fred Sanford? He had the big one. That’s what this year is for me. Elizabeth, I’m coming!”

Davis, who recently dined with the powers-that-be from Buffalo, could be coming to the Jets. Orr reports that the Jets are interested, and Davis has suggested that a visit is coming.

So, basically, don’t be the big dummy who fails to take advantage of the talents of a man who appreciates the wisdom of Fred Sanford. Code:

So let me first preface this by saying I think the new FO has done a decent job in FA. We struck quick on guys that we had obviously targeted and continue to work on getting Grimes who I think is our top pick at CB.

But whats the deal with TE?

Sure, we struck quickly.....on a backup, utility type guy. There were pass catchers on the market...Dustin Keller, Jared Cook, Delanie Walker, Brandon Myers. But nothing...

Combine this with our willingness to let Watson walk (which I really don't understand as the guy has been nothing but dependable) and I really don't get where the FO is going.

We can;t be thinking that Cameron is our starting TE. He's shown less than Moore did when he was here and was our flavour of the month for a pass catching TE.

The only thing I can think of is that they've got a few TEs they like in the draft?

Browns looked at Fred Davis and have probably determined that achilles is going to take some time..trust me I've had two even though they were well over 20 years ago but these injuries do not often heal and leave U the way you were .
I have a hunch that they are looking at taking a TE high in the draft .
Chud likes his TE's, we have 2 blocking TE's and Jordan as a pass catching TE .
I wouldn't worry too much at this point.
