Tell us all what you dream for/of

It can be serious or funny or weird.. whatever..

mine is very very simple, with a strong life lesson neatly tucked inside.

I dream of a better world where Chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned.....

But that's just me. What's yours?

Not sure if this fits, but I always contemplate whether I will cry WHEN the Browns win a Super Bowl.

I didn't cry at my wedding so I know I'll catch hell for bawling after an SB win, but by then I wouldn't care if I had to sleep on the couch for a week.

Cool thread idea Daman. Never thought I'd say that.

Of course, I dream of the Browns winning the Super Bowl. And like the other posters I will cry like a baby when it happens.

For the rest I have to give it some more thought.

Three nights ago I had a dream that I answered the front door at 2am and there was a guy completely concealed wearing sunglasses who shot me in the chest with a small revolver then proceeded to break in. I laid on the floor bleeding and then woke up.

Couldn't go back to sleep afterward. It sucked.

No lie.

I once dreamed I spanked Brittany Spears and she liked it.

I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I also dreamt that Geraldo Rivero got mad and threw his bike at me.

Other than that, I have the normal running in slow motion, walking around unaware I'm in my underwear stuff.

I often dream of dunking basketballs all over the place.

My "dream" dream is that my kids and grandkids have a life that's been at least as good as mine has been.

Oh yea! Does anybody dream of running really fast when you're on all fours?

Has this response been TMI???

I don't know that I have ever had a dream that wasn't in color.

My dream is a elevator dream. I get in the elevator and the thing starts to wobble violently in all directions as it goes up. Never down. I have a fear it falls, but never does..... but it is unsettling none the less. It's like the shaft is 10-20 feet wider than the elevator and it just goes from side to side.

I hate that dream.

So have we gone off track here?

Is the question what do you dream at night or what do you consciously dream when you are awake?

I thought it was the latter.

As for the former, I have a recurring nightmare ... about twice a year ... where I have skipped all my classes one quarter in college and can't catch up and am about to fail. I wake up sweating and it takes me a few minutes to realize it was just a dream. I never let school interfere with my social life in college and because I was such a slacker, I think this dream is my guilty conscience coming out.

I think most of my dreams are tied into the struggle of survival and to maintain my standard of living. I drive a forklift a lot at work and bi-weekly have nightmares about all kinds of accidents. I had one where the forks were too low and flexibly bent down like and dragged under the wheels like noodles. Also run a lot of cranes into walls when I'm asleep.

Also, whenever I'm in a fistfight in my dreams, I can never actually quickly throw and land punches. Maybe it's an innate feeling of helplessness, but I always flail in slow-motion and have a laughably short reach.

In the sex dreams department, I'm not sure how some girls I absolutely hate(d) show up every now and again. I had an old stuck-up fling want me to choke her out while we had sex about a month ago. I woke up from that thinking, "I'm not into her or that all all."

"Or am I?"

I have awesome dreams. I intentionally set the alarm clock for 30 minutes before I need to be awake. For some reason, after waking for a brief second or so, the dreams come fast. Or maybe I just remember them better, I don't know. Awesome dreams.

I have this type of dream about once every other year or so. It's usually that I've overslept and am late for a final exam. Or that there was a long paper, like a dissertation, due and I totally forgot about it until the day it was due.

In other sleeping dream news.

I very rarely have sex in dreams. And I'm awful talking to girls. Like my pathetic opposite self.

And the most common dream that I have is haggling...like over the price of a bolt at the hardware store.

Finally a few times a year I'm in the middle of a dream and I realize consciously that I'm dreaming...and I basically have the cheat code and can do whatever I want....I hate waking up from those and I usually try to get back in...rarely successfully.,

J/C .....

I have had a lot of really bizarre dreams lately ...... but I cannot remember them for much more than a few minutes after I wake up.

I think the scariest dream I ever had was quite some time ago when I dreamed that I was flying a small cessna type plane in the desert or out west. I remember there was something wrong with the plane and then all of a sudden there was a cliff ahead of me and I crashed. I woke up really fast and I think I was sweating. Luckily I don't have dreams like that very often.

Mine are always in color.

I have a lot of weird dreams that don't really go anywhere. When I was younger I would have those falling dreams where you wake up just as you hit the ground.

Now it just seems like a really horrible movie. My dreams aren't really awesome, or scary, they're just kind of there, and really weird.

I have a lot of hockey related dreams too, where I'm either late or I forgot something. I also play at the weirdest places that don't even seem like arenas.

Apparently I talk in my sleep as well. My girlfriend says I will seem like I'm awake at times almost to the point of scaring her.

I dream in color, and often remember noticing certain colors.

I have 2 main dreams repeatedly. and I often remember many details if not the whole dream.

1 involves old places I have lived, although the layouts/rooms are different and sometimes multiple places are merged into 1, they are easily recognizable to me.

Just saturday night, I had a dream my mother dropped me off at was a childhood home (ages: 6-12). In the dream I was current age(43)

We pulled up on the street in front of the house. My Mustang that I own now, was parked in the driveway about 20' from the street (odd since the house had a detached 2 car in the back and as a kid my parents always parked in the expanded part of the drive in front of the garage.)

I walked up to the front door and unlocked it and entered (Another oddity since I don't remember ever entering that house through the front door, always the side entrance.) Even in the dream I felt it was my home and I lived there, but hadn't been there in a while, not sure if it was weeks or months, but it felt as though I had been gone for some time.

Anyway, I walk in, and at first the place it neat and tighty. then a moment later there is a huge mound of clothes, and crap on the sofa. Then I notice boots on the floor, I move the cloths and there is a large man wearing a sleeping, which promply wakes up.

He stands up and starts walking toward me, and suddenly I have an aluminum bat in my hand which I use to hit him, but it has little affect, he heads toward what was my room growing up as I continue hitting him. I am sure he is heading for my firearm which apparently must be in the bedroom) I conitnue hitting him. As he gets to the doorway of the room, he turns and as he turns he is no long a large man, but an attractive woman, who also has a bat and she is swinging at me. We swing at each other through the kitchen and down the couple stairs to the landing by the side door of the house.

We continue hitting each other as I force her out the door, and she says to me "Now your in trouble, my husband is home and he works for the school board", Yes, specifically said school board. I manage to get the door shut and locked. In the dream I knew they were squatters and had been living there since I had been gone (as I said earlier I felt I had not been home in some time). Her husband comes up and starts pounding on the sidedoor.

And that is when I woke up.

Details I remember:
The house was dark green like when I lived there (Last time I went by it had been painted yellow)
The front door was painted red (I think it was white when we lived there)
The large man was wearing LL Bean Light brown hiking boots, brown work "Dickies" and a tan and white horizontally stripped shirt. Short cropped light brown hair.
The woman, was thin build long blond/brown hair wearing light color blue jeans and a white long sleeve top.
My bat was anodized red. Her was aluminum colored.
The sofa was green, very short, like a loveseat but a bit longer.
There was no window inside the house, but from outside there was the large picture window in the living room.
The stairs going upstairs existed, but didn't seem to go anywhere.
The driveway was gravel, the neighbors driveway was blacktop.
The house to the right that was on the corner was not there and my house was on a corner lot.
There was no other furniture to be seen besides the sofa.
The kitchen had cabinets and a stove, but no other appliances were visible, no kitchen table, nothing on the countertops.

I've been going over this dream the last couple days as it just remains in my head, playing over and over. I'm sure there is something to be learned in it, I'm just not 100% sure, besides that I might be crazy and suffering dillusions.

I had that dream last night ....... in stereo.

Actually, one night about 10 or so years ago, I was on my way home from a bar at about 2 am, when I puller up to a light about 3 blocks away from my house. There were these 2 cute girls in the car, and I checked them out, and they, obviously being drunk, checked me out in return. I think that I was driving a highly sexy minivan that night. We started talking there are the light ..... it was ithe passenger's birthday .... blah, blah, blah ........ and the light changed and they took a left, and pulled into a parking lot. The straight thru light turned green, but I figured what the hell.

Anyway .... long story short ...... I had a dream about those 2 girls last night ....... and about this other girl I knew casually from going out to a bar ..... who told me that she wanted to leave her current boyfriend, who she was living with, and was looking for someone to take care of her, and that she would take care of that guy in return .......

Fortunately, or unfortunately, I have never been the sugar daddy type .....

I dreamt about her as well.

Weird. She would have been about that same time frame. Maybe I'm replaying my life in pseudo real time in my sleep. Either that, or maybe I'm just going nuts.

I did also have this other dream where I was living in my Grandfather's old house. He passed away in 1991, and the house was horribly dated. The people that bought it did a ton of work on the house, and it looks beautiful today, but the version I was living in was the horribly outdated version. I think that my Mom was living in the finished attic ......

I usually don't remember my dreams .... and if I do, they usually vanish within 5 minutes of me waking up ........ and maybe now I know why.

Every morning since we brought him home from the hospital, when my 3 year old wakes up, I ask him if he dreamed about toast. Now, whenever I ask him what he dreamed about, he says "toast."

Every morning since we brought my daughter home from the hospital, I ask her if she dreamed about muffins and tube socks. She's 9 mos. old now, so hopefully within the next year she starts to answer me.

My wife just rolls her eyes.

I dream all the time, in color, very detailed. The one's that wig me out the most are about real life, every day situations where I don't know any of the characters and have never been to the place or time. They're mostly contemporary so it's not like I'm dreaming about past lives. It's so weird interacting with people and places I don't know and have never met. I always wake up thinking, WTF, who the hell were those people, and why was I there?

Although last night I dreamt about an old friend, he was sick and I was an intern in a hospital (WTF is going on there?) and we discovered that all of his tattoos where making him sick. We removed them with a devise that just sucked them off his skin. By the time we were finished, he was fine. I told him, "Man, don't you look all shiny and new." For some reason he didn't appreciate my joke. Oh well, I thought it was funny. Couple things happened before Nathaniel came in, with his tattoo problem. I was working with the Irish chick from Boardwalk Empire, she was an x-ray tech and we had to color all the white parts of her x-rays red because it made the maladies show up better and easier to read. I was handed a handful of parking tickets but none of them were mine. Nate's name were on a couple though...lol After we had fixed Nate, I discovered that my resident was John Corbert and he was going to direct a movie I was working on staring Gary Sinise. I guess practicing medicine was just a hobby, or maybe film making was the hobby. Anyway, weird, very detailed.

No, I don't have any outstanding parking tickets. Yes, I had been watching Boardwalk Empire. No, I hand't been watching Grey's Anatomy or anything like that. No, I haven't seen John Corber or Gary Sinise in anything lately, and I have never met them. And no, I do not have secret aspirations to be a doctor.

Wierd.

I seem to go through phases.

For awhile I kept having these real weird half asleep/half awake dreams that there were ghosts or aliens standing over my bed watching me. Or strange dreams that there were hidden cameras in my room. I guess it had something to do with working nights and trying to sleep during the day, but it was always during the day. One time I had a dream that there was a miniature alien ship hovering over my bed observing me, I jumped up out of bed and screamed at the ceiling fan and ripped it off the ceiling.

I went through a phase where I had several vivid dreams of my kids screwing around near icy or ice covered water and going into the freezing water or through the ice, of course I woke up in a panic before I could save them, and then Ii had one where my wife was driving and it was raining real hard, we were near a lake or something and she decided to drive down a road that was partly submerged and we got swept out into the lake. We floated a bit then I woke just as the Jeep got too full and plunged to the bottom. In everyone people did things that I told them not to do, and that caused the problems. As Jules astutely pointed out, my dream was more about my kids and wife not listening to what I told them. I still get panicked if I see a road with water over it.

The dreams that I hate the worst are the ones that are so damn cool you are mad as he to wake up and realize they are just a dream, and not real

My most common dreams are work dreams. They usually involve an impossible or indecipherable task with an impending deadline. They are full of chaos and confusion, with a growing sense of anxiety.

I have two other recurring dreams. One involves one of my dogs (past and current) where they are standing on some high perch, like the roof of the house or some other elevated place. I keep trying to tell them not to jump - to stay where they are and I'll get up there to save them. They always jump.

The other involves being trappped in some remote building or house with someone else, with dusk approaching, and vampires are going to be coming to get us. We always escape.

Most of my dreams are nonsense that make me wake up and think "wtf?".

OK, I have to share one bizarre dream I had when I was in grade school, around the time of Jurassic Park. I remember it so vividly because of how bizarre it was.

I remember shopping at an indoor mall that had a cubed shape. There were two stories with the shops lining three of the walls on both stories. The fourth wall was made entirely of glass.

It went from day to night when I was in the mall. All of a sudden, a huge T-Rex busted through the glass wall and started eating people. He then started chasing me so I ran down a wood-paneled staircase where I ran into a Japanese chef from Sakkyo at the mall food court.

The chef then turned himself big so he could fight the T-Rex with karate and two butcher knives. He eventually won and the T-Rex surrendered by offering him marshmallows. The T-Rex then walked away.

End of dream. I've never forgotten it. Going on nearly 20 years now.
