...will not be released tomorrow. My theory is they're going to really try to stick it to MLB. PFT Schedule release not happening tomorrow Posted by Mike Florio on April 15, 2013, 9:08 AM EDT Last week, we caught wind of the possibility that the 2013 regular-season schedule won’t be released on Tuesday, April 16. The possibility has now become a certainty. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello tells PFT that the schedule won’t be released on April 16. He added the date for the release has not been determined. “It will not be tomorrow but could be in the next week or two,” Aiello said via email. “We’re working to finalize it.” Typically, the schedule is released before the draft. The information has some (but not much) relevance to the decisions made by teams as to the needs that will be addressed, since the schedule lets every franchise know precisely when it will be facing each opponent. Online listings for NFL Network previously included a schedule-release show at 8:00 p.m. ET on April 16. While not immediately removed after the information was noticed and publicized, at some point in the past few weeks the plans changed. Complicating this year’s process of configuring 256 regular-season games, which now includes three prime-time games per week and 17 total Thursday games, was roughly three weeks of uncertainty arising from the question of whether the Ravens will be hosting the midweek season opener. Once the decision was made that the Ravens will play in Week One on the road, NFL senior V.P. of broadcasting and media operations Howard Katz’s annual task became even more daunting. More accurately, the chore became even more Herculean. With near-infinite possibilities and networks politicking for preferential treatment and a wide range of conflicts and other factors to consider, it’s far from the easiest batch of sausage to make.

Three prime time games a week is translated to "NFL trying to make as much money as possible via stupid advertising/commercials and etc".

I believe that I heard about a scheduling conflict with the Orioles.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ravens-open-road-because-orioles-203435002--nfl.htmlConsider this a rare example of the NFL not getting its way. Instead of celebrating their Super Bowl title with a game at their home stadium, the Baltimore Ravens will start the 2013 regular season on the road, because Major League Baseball and the Baltimore Orioles wouldn't budge. The NFL likes to have its reigning champion open a season at home and wanted to have the Ravens play in Baltimore at night on Thursday, Sept. 5. But with the Orioles already set to host the Chicago White Sox next door at 7:05 p.m. on that date, and the leagues and teams unable to reach a compromise, the NFL announced Friday the Ravens will have to play somewhere else. The Ravens and Orioles play at adjacent stadiums and share a parking lot, so they avoid playing at the same time because of traffic problems. ''While we are disappointed for the fans in Baltimore,'' NFL spokesman Greg Aiello wrote in an emailed statement, ''we appreciate the efforts of the Ravens, Orioles, and Major League Baseball and fully understand the logistical problems in trying to schedule the teams on the same day. The Ravens will open the season on the road.'' He added that the league would like to set up some sort of Super Bowl celebration in Baltimore that night, perhaps including a pregame concert, even if the Ravens aren't there. The Ravens' Week 1 opponent hasn't been announced yet. ''The Ravens and Orioles explored options, but ultimately decided the two games could not be played in Baltimore on the same day,'' the NFL club posted on its Twitter feed. Major League Baseball declined to comment, referring reporters to a statement issued by the Orioles, who said they had been working ''over the past several weeks'' to try to accommodate the Ravens. ''Given the limited options available to reschedule the game at that late date in the season, the parties jointly determined that even an earlier start time would still create such enormous logistical difficulties that it would greatly diminish the fan experience for both events, which all parties realized would not be in the interest of their fans or the city,'' the Orioles said. Complicating matters were the rules in baseball's collective bargaining agreement that govern rescheduling games - and the fact that both the Orioles (at the Cleveland Indians) and the White Sox (at the New York Yankees) have night games in other cities on Sept. 4, making a day game on Sept. 5 problematic. The NFL began opening its regular season on a Thursday in 2002. Last season, though, the league chose to play a game on a Wednesday for the first time in more than 60 years, kicking things off on that day instead of Thursday to avoid conflicting with President Barack Obama's speech at the Democratic National Convention. The NFL decided a Wednesday start wasn't an option this time because the Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashanah falls on Sept. 4.

?? I think MLB was being reasonable. They cannot force 2 teams to play a day game after a night game in a different city when both may be in the wild card chase (with each other even). And, forcing a double-header the next day doesn't seem right either.
It's unfortunate that the schedule played out the way it did, but I don't fault MLB for it.

Not really the MLB's fault.
The NFL opened up the season on Wednesday last year, they should just open up with the Ravens at home on Wednesday the 4th.

Yeah, the NFL and Ravens need to quite whinning. Big deal, you open on the road. Your ring celebration happens in Week 2. Oh the humanity. If only the Browns had similar problems.

I don't understand that thinking.
MLB has a schedule as well.
It's late in the baseball season, with limited options for a replay. You can't have teams having to fly in to Balt. at 2am and ask them to play at noon....a pennent could be on the line. It's hard to say in April, but it could.
If it was Cleveland, it could probably be done since the stadiums are seperated, but there, they are next to each other and have common parking grounds for the masses.
Don't balme MLB. Their season has started.
Talk about hard to change a schedule. Talk about how hard it would be to change a schedule once a season has started.
Sorry. I like the NFL, but their sheet stinks as well. They might need to re-examine their method of scheduling.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn. GM Strong

I don't get the baseball hate here. Contrary to belief - the world doesn't need to bow to the NFL, nor does baseball.

I heard this mentioned one time a lonnnng time ago and it's never talked about. Now this is hear say, from a conversation 20+ years ago, but the gist is, at some point the NFL was sued for anti trust, and lost, ... maybe by the, at that time usfl, anyway the funny thing was the penalty was 1 dollar. But I think, (and this is from that conversation) the judges ruled that because of the myriad of high school football games all over the country, the NFL can't play on Friday. But I can't confirm that. It's a conversation 20+ years ago.
( If anyone remembers the movie, N. L. Vacation, where the grandma calls Clark Griswold cheap! , cue her voice calling out Art and the Ravens) " Too cheap to buy a parking lot!" after 18 years."
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.

I might be wrong, but I think there is a state or federal law or some type of legislation that prevents them from televising a game on Friday night.
The NFL would have already tried taking Friday and Saturday for their own if they could.

NFL would space it out one game or two games per day of the week if they could. More commercials, more advertising and more selling the NFL coverage to stations like CBS and etc.

I always figured they just didn't because it's not a good ratings night. People are usually out and about Friday and Saturday nights, for obvious reasons.
That would be awesome though. I wish they could somehow make the Thursday game a Friday game instead. It gives the players an extra day to recover. Those Thursday games are always horrible. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that as far as fantasy football goes, you should sit guys playing Thursday unless it's like your top pick, and even then you won't get much out of them.

I'm pretty sure that it's a back-room deal with college football (and to a much, much lesser extent high school football).
They leave those days to their free feeder system.

Great! I know who we will be playing on Week 2 now. We will be in Baltimore playing the Ravens. Mark that on your calendars.
Stupid MLB and their stupid games.

Was 99 and 07 the only times we opened with Pitt?
I'd be a fan of that again.
Or maybe the Jets. Cause. Ya know. They may actually be worse than us...
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I believe you are correct. We've opened against Baltimore once, and Cincinnati once as well but I believe that's it. Here is what I would like to see as our schedule.
Week 1 - Pittsburgh (Sunday Night Game) Week 2 - @NY Jets Week 3 - @Cincinnati Week 4 - Jacksonville Week 5 - Buffalo Week 6 - @Green Bay Week 7 - Bye Week 8 - Miami Week 9 - @Minnesota Week 10 - Baltimore Week 11 - @Pittsburgh Week 12 - Chicago Week 13 - @New England Week 14 - Detroit Week 15 - @Baltimore Week 16 - @Kansas City Week 17 - Cincinnati
We start the season with a few winnable games. Each time we get a tough matchup we get another "winnable" game right after it. Either way I would like to get a home primetime game against a division opponent this year. We always seem to be on the road in those.

That's the best I can ask for.

I hate 4:00 home games because, if I go, then I don't get to put my kids to bed and it kind of kills my whole day.
With 1:00 games, at least I can play with my kids for a little bit after and hopefully lose some of my frustration.

haha no, it was just a guess at the schedule. I would love it if it worked out like this, but it will most likely be much different.

My favorite part of the schedule release are the hundreds of Win/Loss posts that proceed the announcement but preclude the draft. They're almost as fun as the "you guess the schedule!" posts. btw...I bet we open at home against Chicago. I know the NFL wants us to open at home. I also know that they want us to lose. Cutler hasn't been knocked around yet. So that's my theory.

I love the 1pm games. A start time of 10am pct is perfect. I roll out of bed have a cup of coffee then head out to the BrownsBacker bar a couple miles away. Easy to find parking at 9:30am. Eat breakfast. Watch some ball. Home by 1:30. Leaving me the rest of the day. 4pm starts are harder. Finding parking is a bear. There's fans of other teams sitting in 'my' chair. The game splits my Sunday in half too much. Not enough time in the morning to feel like you can accomplish much. It's kinda too late to get much started by the time you get home at 4:30-5.

The schedule is coming out at 8 pm tonight. They will laud this over our heads with commercials and too much flare like everything else. Every 20 minutes they will release 4 games and talk about it for a segment. (" oH please tell us who we will play, like we are little children listening to a bedtime story" ) It Makes Me Sick.
Gmab, the only question I have is how are they going to turn the screws to us, (Browns, fans and team) this year.
Can Deshaun Watson play better for the Browns, than Baker Mayfield would have? ... Now the Games count.
