Ytown, I agree. My Dad & I both would be doing time in today's world. It's ridiculous. It took me half a lifetime to really understand what my Dad was doing, with my Sister and I. He always told everybody that we were his kids and that he would raise us how HE wanted to raise us not how everybody else wanted to raise us. What took me so long to learn was, it wasn't about right or wrong, it was about the idea that we ARE his children and as such he would raise us like he saw fit. Even though I raised my kids differently, I agree with what he did. You should see the looks I get in a store when I'm talking to someone and I say "Their my kids, and I'll do what I want" Man you'd think I yelled fire. It's sad really, To many people with not enough to do, so they have to poke their nose in somebody else's business.

So, the child caused a disturbance on the school bus and was punished for it. Seems reasonable to me. What am I missing?

Reality.

Apparently, what I was missing was a reliable source for this story. But that website does have a good conversation going in the comments section regarding the MILF status of the principal. Why was this posted here again?

Anarchy likes to post academically sturdy material from his peer-review journals.

I think all this frenzy over gun control is silly- but with so little actual information to this story- it's a bit silly to dish out polarizing zingers or go of on "what's wrong with America's youth" rants.

Touche'! I should have been more fair. It's just with gems like "the facts from the Russians" op-eds about Obama being a communist and the legendary political humor thread, you can get into the habit of simply assuming when he's pounding the keyboard anywhere.

Because we needed more threads for Millcreek to incoherently babble on with his Obama agenda, and PerfectSpiral to continue to prove how perfect he is and that the rest of us are hell bound heathens.

You need to calm down. DC makes good arguments for his beliefs. People like you and Milcreek make it difficult to have productive, reasoned discussions. Next time you reply to a thread like this, try practicing some equanimity.

Get a sense of humour. You guys are way too touchy. You missed the.

I'll leave you to your crumpy old man aurguments now.

Just a word of caution... we have had posters on here before who would post some of the meanest, nastiest, most hate filled stuff you could imagine and then follow it up with a .... .... and think that made it ok

I'm not saying that's you or anything, just trying to make you aware that a smiley face isn't always enough, especially when the comment sounds more serious than funny...

Have a great weekend..

That sounded ominous...

There is no level of sucking we haven't seen; in fact, I'm pretty sure we hold the patents on a few levels of sucking NOBODY had seen until the past few years.

Clever, indeed. The writer's incredulity is palpable. Hardly an objective treatment of the event, but then objectivity and analysis is not the purpose judging by the website from which it originates.

Something else that seems odd to me is this statement by YTown:

Quote:

If children are traumatized by a fake gun the size of a quarter, then we are raising a generation of cowardly idiots.

Does this seem incongruous to anyone else? On the one hand, isn't a six year old child the epitome of a cowardly idiot? I mean, they're six. Of course they are going to be scared by trivial things, from an adult's perspective. But, this being the case, it seems harsh and objectively inaccurate to label six year old children cowards and idiots when fear and ignorance are part of their nature. Again, what am I missing here?

Aren't all six year olds cowardly idiots? Take this as an old day-care worker, kids don't even become some sort of witty or brave until 7 to 9. If I had a dollar for every thing I've seen six year olds do that was both idiotic and/or cowardly, I'd have bought the Browns myself.
