Wow this is a pretty decent big blow to the Buckeyes. Even bigger would be if Roby gets disciplined on top of this... http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2..._special-report"COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State starting running back Carlos Hyde has reportedly been dismissed from the team, and star cornerback Bradley Roby was arrested in Indianapolis over the weekend, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Hyde's loss is a blow to the Buckeyes, but if Roby has problems, the Buckeyes could really be in trouble. ..."

I wonder if Hernandez never did what he did if he would've still kicked him off the team?

Well that absolutely blows, he is our staring running back right?
I had a feeling we would lose an undefeated season in Ann Arbor this season anyway

They have good depth at that position. It still sucks, but I think they can get by (helps also having a QB that can run like Miller)
The bigger blow would be Roby. That would really hurt.
I'm also hearing rumors of two more, but I don't think it's right to post them until I hear a few more confirmations.

web page Meyer announces discipline for four Buckeyes Separate incidents result in immediate, decisive action July 22, 2013 COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer today suspended senior running back Carlos Hyde, from Naples, Fla., from all football team activities pending the outcome of the student code of conduct and criminal investigations. Hyde was named in a City of Columbus Police Department report that was issued Monday. Meyer also took disciplinary action Monday against two freshmen who were involved in legal issues in the past week: tight end Marcus Baugh, from Riverside, Calif., and defensive lineman Tim Gardner, from Indianapolis. He also announced that senior cornerback Bradley Roby, from Suwanee, Ga., will not attend Big Ten media days this week. Roby was involved in a legal issue this weekend in Bloomington, Ind., and, as more information becomes available, could face additional discipline. "I have a clear set of core values in place that members of this football program are constantly reminded of and are expected to honor," Meyer said. "There are also expectations with regard to behavior. I expect our players to conduct themselves responsibly and appropriately and they will be held accountable for their actions." Baugh has been removed from all team activities and will sit out the first game of the season, Aug. 31 vs. Buffalo, for his arrest last weekend for underage possession of alcohol and possessing a fake identification. His actions will also result in the loss of his summer aid. Gardner is being sent home and will not be a part of the 2013 team after he was charged Saturday night by Columbus police with obstruction of official business.

Losing Hyde is a huge blow, yes, but, this will open the door for Rod Smith who was Indiana's player of the year his Senior season in H.S. and he is built like Eddie George, along with explosive speed, his one drawback has been a few fumbles, if he corrects that he will be hard to stop, Lets also not forget about 6th year Senior Jordan Hall and Sophomore Briante Dunn a 5 star stud from Akron ...

I'm wondering if Urban will crack down a little more now that he took some flak at Florida?

We have depth and talent at RB so Hyde can be replaced. I'm worried about Bradley Roby however.

It's said the "that team up north": has lost the most starters from 2012 in the Big 10.
The odds to win the Nat'l Champ game(Vegas Odds) have the following........
#2 OSU.................@ 5/1 #15 Michigan.........@ 30/1
http://www.vegasinsider.com/college-football/odds/futures/
However, losing Hyde could/should tighten up those odds a bit.

I don't think it has anything to do with Florida. I think it has to do with OSU just being released from NCAA sanctions.

Situation stinks. But Urb has to draw a serious line in the sand after sanctions and serve notice to all players. I admire that he acted, and it seems decisively. Opens doors for others, and bumps up recruits. Reload.

Article says he was "suspended", not "dismissed from the team" - more of temporary status, I suppose, pending the outcome. Its too bad for Hyde since most draft boards had him at 3rd or 4th round in 2014 draft. With a good season he could easily have moved into the second round, imo. He reminds me of Kevin Mack (maybe even with the same self-destructive tendencies). It was all right in front of him; a chance to be a 1000 yard rusher, a chance at playing for a national champion, a chance at some serious NFL money, and he screws it up for a night at the bar? Idiot.
It bugs me that some want to make it about Meyer when there's only one person at fault here.

Not 100% sure, but it sounds like he was kicked out of a bar or club, and then tried to get back in, and when the bouncer denied him, he hit the guy in the chest.
I heard Beau Bishop on 92.3 last night, he's part of the media down in C-Bus, and he's very good, he said that sounds like a 1 game suspension, but he could see the Carlos Hyde thing being a complete dismissal, unless he can get those charges dropped. There are rumors that it was a cop's daughter.
Although there is that piece of information ESPN reported about surveillance video maybe telling a different story.

Well it is a way to get the ones that cause trouble off the team. As it may cost them a bit. But hopefully they can learn from this and move on.

As of right now, no charges have been filed. They'll let the the whole thing play out and then make that decision.
As I said before, Jake Stoneburner was booted off the team for being arrested, and was reinstated when the charges were dropped. In this case they haven't even been filed.
My guess is he will be back. He may not even been suspended for an games.

If there are no charges, and it appears that he did nothing, (and even walked away from a physical confrontation, as he should) then I would have to think that he'll be reinstated without any suspension.

Is any Ohio State fan going to correct this, which has been posted twice? Stoneburner was not kicked off the team, he was suspended, his charge was a simple misdemeanor.
You are probably thinking of Storm Klein.

Yes you are correct.
Also, I wish I had the link but apparently a reporter down in Columbus was allowed to see this surveillance video and she said that Carlos Hyde did make contact with this woman. Apparently she took a swing at him as he was walking away and he turned around and slapped her.

I saw that last night as well. She drew a diagram of the video and explained the whole thing and said he did indeed slap her. She made it seem like it was obvious.

I'm not sure how you handle that situation. I don't think you can not give out some kind of punishment, but I really don't know that you can just boot a guy off the team in his senior year either, if everything played out the way it has been reported.
I think even if charges never get filed, it's on video.
You probably have to factor in Hyde's past too. I don't think we have ever heard much from him, but the school and the team know about anything kept in-house. If he's been out of trouble in his 3 or 4 years, then I think a few games suspension would probably be ok. If he's done some things in his time at school, I think you can probably kick him out.

The video making the rounds appears that he did take a swing with an open hand in retaliation, although it isn't clear if he made contact. The chick appears to make the initial move.
He may get back on the team, but I highly doubt he gets away scot free.

Just watched the surveillance tape. I'd be a shame to suspend a kid for any amount of time for that. Totally lame and nothing to get excited about.
It looks like she tried to slap him. Then it looks like he pushed her slightly and walked away immediately.
From reports I was thinking this was a way bigger deal than it looks like it was.

3 games.
I saw the video, there isn't a whole lot there, definitely not something that someone should be charged with, but he did make an attempt at her.
3 games might be harsh, but I understand his stance.

Hyde suspended "at least" 3 games: Urban Meyer suspends Ohio State running back Carlos Hyde for at least the first three games of the season | cleveland.com http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2..._special-reportCOLUMBUS, Ohio – When senior running back Carlos Hyde raised his left arm in the early morning hours of July 20, he put his future as an Ohio State football player at risk. That decision will cost him at least the first three games of his final college season. Urban Meyer announced the suspension of Hyde on Tuesday night for his involvement in an incident at a Columbus nightclub. Meyer, in a statement, said the suspension was for “conduct not representative of this football program or this university.” Meyer also said that Hyde will have to fulfill other obligations before he is allowed to return to action. The three games Hyde will certainly miss are the home opener against Buffalo on Aug. 31, a home game against San Diego State on Sept. 7 and a trip to Cal on Sept. 14. If he is allowed back for the fourth game, his return would come against Florida A&M, and Hyde would miss no Big Ten action. Hyde will not face charges from police however, another decision announced Tuesday. The evidence behind the decisions was acted out on a video surveillance recording from Sugar Bar 2, a Columbus nightclub. Hyde's 30-second conversation with a young woman on the dance floor went south. He gestured at her as he began to step away. She responded by attempting to strike him with her right hand. He retaliated by swiping at her with his left hand. It's unclear from the video, which is in pretty clear black and white, if either Hyde or the woman connected with their attempts. The angle of the video makes that difficult to see. But the woman reacted by putting her hands to her face, and after Hyde walked away, she was consoled by friends. Hyde was named as a person of interest in the potential assault on July 22. Police spokesman Rich Weiner said that the woman told police during an interview Saturday that she didn't want to press charges. And that closed the case. “This is a case where it's up to the victim,” Weiner told The Plain Dealer. “We were in the middle of the case, and the important part was interviewing her. We were able to do so, and it was during that interview when she said she didn't want to press charges.” What was left for Hyde was how his coach would rule. Meyer suspended Hyde indefinitely last Monday. By the time the news from police came out Tuesday, the OSU coaches were well aware that charges would not be filed. Meyer's decision was made in the public eye. Already, Weiner and the alleged victim both have been frustrated by media coverage of the event, with the woman saying in a statement she released to NBC Channel 4 in Columbus that she believed there had been a rush to judgment. “It is unimaginable to be exposed to these false reports, claims and rumors,” she wrote. Now Meyer had to find what he believed to be the truth. After there were reports both ways in the last week – one that said the video showed that Hyde did not strike her, one that said the video showed that he did – the release of the video itself still doesn't draw a firm, clear conclusion. Meyer certainly talked with Hyde, and he said in Chicago last week at the Big Ten meetings how angry he was when he first heard about the incident. "My concern is I don't want to disrupt this team. I'm disappointed,” Meyer said then. “I think furious might have been word when I first got the phone call." Meyer said that every player is ultimately accountable for his actions, but that “the head coach needs to set a standard, direct, guide and push these guys.” He also said he wants the punishment at Ohio State for players who get in trouble to be as harsh or harsher as any program in the country. It's that mindset he took into his decision-making about Hyde. The senior ran for 970 yards and 16 touchdowns last year, coming on in the second half and serving as an ideal complement to the run threat of quarterback Braxton Miller. Meyer expressed confidence about the depth behind Hyde, with junior Rod Smith the most likely candidate to start while Hyde is out. However, Smith carried just 32 times for 215 yards last year. Hyde had 185 carries, including four games with 20 or more. Other options at running back include sophomore Bri'onte Dunn (25 carries for 133 yards last season), redshirt freshman Warren Ball, and true freshman Ezekiel Elliott. And senior Jordan Hall and freshman Dontre Wilson, both ticketed to play in the slot, could also grab some tailback carries if need be. So with the police case done, this was now a football decision. It affects the Buckeyes, who should be ranked among the top three teams in the country in the preseason, and their hopes for a national title. It affects Hyde. It affects Meyer. And one way or another, it affects how people look at Ohio State.
Micah 6:8; He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
John 14:19 Jesus said: Because I live, you also will live.
