Sounds bad for Shawn. Looks like Pinkston wins the RG spot with ease now. Chalk another one up to bad luck.
Broken ankle perhaps? If its a high ankle sprain i would be shocked if he plays against the Dolphins.

Browns starting right guard Shawn Lauvao carted off with ankle injury, Jason Pinkston ready to step in by Mary Kay Cabot, The Plain Dealer 8/5/2013 7:24 PM Print Email Browns starting right guard Shawn Lauvao was carted off the practice field today with an apparent ankle injury could miss time. He suffered the injury in one-on-one pass-rush drills when he was bullrushed by nosetackle Phil Taylor. If he has to miss action, he'll be replaced in the lineup by Jason Pinkston, who sat out the final 10 games of last season after suffering a life-threatening blood clot in his lung. Pinkston, who started the previous 22 games at left guard, said playing on the right side has been an adjustment. He also said he's still working his way back after being out six months while on blood-thinners. Pinkston said he talked to Lauvao before he was carted off and Lauvao told him he was fine, that it wasn't anything too serious. He said Lauvao told him he twisted his ankle but that he thought he'd be okay. Pinkston has been practicing mostly on the right side behind Lauvao while John Greco has manned the left guard spot. http://www.cleveland.com/browns/team/1375745054-151-205/browns-starting-right-guard-shawn.html

Jordy Nelson is expected to be out 4-6 weeks after a knee surgery. He just can't stay healthy. The Packers have been bit by the bug thus far.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

Sad story, he has worked very hard and did a decent job in 2012. Pretty much like the much familiar and much known Gary Baxter story.

It seems like this is like the 4th straight year with this headline. I know it isn't, but this guy has some bad luck.

Rodgers is the best QB in the NFL, but I really wonder if he makes it though the year.
Even if he does, he'll be harassed to the point of putting up less than his usual stellar numbers, people will view the stats while not watching the games, and say he had a terrible year and is overrated.
Can you imagine him on the Browns? Seriously............if he was w/us, we would be in the playoffs. No question in my mind.

Eagles lose another WR to injury: Eagles WR Arrelious Benn tears ACL - CBSSports.com http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/blog/eye-on-football/23042265/eagles-wr-arrelious-benn-tears-aclAs the Eagles try to get through the loss of receiver Jeremy Maclin to a torn ACL and the distraction caused by the racial slur used by Riley Cooper, they now have another hurdle to overcome. The team announced Tuesday evening that receiver Arrelious Benn has torn his ACL. Benn had been looking to compete for the starting spot vacated by Maclin, but -- following the trend of his career -- he had been injured for much of training camp. Philadelphia had traded with the Buccaneers for Benn, who showed promise but couldn't stay healthy. He had missed 10 games combined in the past two years, and he tore the same ACL in 2010. "I've got to stay healthy," Benn said Sunday. "If I can prove to them I can stay healthy, I'll be all right. … Football's all about opportunity and timing.” Unfortunately for Benn, those two qualities continue to fail him.

Couple things... First, Bulaga wasn't that good to begin with. Rodgers is used to being one of the most-sacked QBs in the NFL... But candidly I don't know if that hurts or helps his.chances of staying healthy in this context.
They need Derrick Sherrod (IIRC) to step up. He's got at least as much talent as Bulaga.

They still wont say what the injury is to lava man....they just say its a ankle. Its been two days, still wont say anything. To me that means has been sent to get a second opinion. I am convinced he will be gone for at least half the season if not the whole season.............

I just keep reading that he turned his ankle. That seems like enough of an answer? So far what I've gained from this coaching staff is that they don't much break down the injuries...they just kinda tell ya what hurts.
Trent got kicked in the shin this week, during OTAs his calf was bothering him. Shaun turned an ankle. Ryan Miller hurt his head. Ya know?
We'll see, I'd imagine 4-6.

I agree slick....it isn't looking good.
My feeling is if the team could release good news, it would do so in a instant. There is some concern over this one. A break would be easy to see. To me, this indicates a 2nd opinion as you said, or the swelling is so severe they have to wait for it to subside to tell if it is "just" a high ankle sprain, which can take months to fully heal, or if there are torn muscles.
If so, either way, he is out for the season or out until maybe mid October at best.

I hope that he's OK, because even if he doesn't start the season, he improves our depth.

Our OL depth is incredibly scary - and not in scary good.
Our backup tackles make me want to cry.

No doubt I hope for the best as well. Maybe I am just a bit gunshy since we've seen this before.
Maybe he will be out there practicing early next week. Something tells me that won't be the case.

I have a feeling that he's getting a 2nd opinion, which is why the updates have taken so long. It would not surprise me one bit if he was put on the PUP list and we were without him for the first 6 weeks or whatever it is.

Yeah I don't know Jack about this injury...I guess they all will know more once the swelling goes down...MRI won't be done till then. A break??? I would suspect that is the first thing they test for and most breaks can be Felt or seen via X-Ray unless its just a minute hairline fracture.
Only thing I suggest is for Lava to get hold of some D.M.S.O.

Peen, you do understand that this line of thought is far too logical for many to accept don't you?

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

The last time we had to wait this long for an injury report on a player, K2 did his Evel Knievel act. I think we even heard about Bentley faster than this.
Of course, it may be that they don't actually know anything concrete, yet... or, Lauvao hasn't given the Ok for any details to be released, yet.

That is sort of my concern here.

I would just think if it were nothing more than a simple sprain they would know that by now but maybe not. As far as knowing exactly the extent of the injury, you may be right but as you noted, even the Bentley injury was known in about the same or less timeframe.
I actually didn't know a player had to give permission to give out injury results? I actually thought, at least in regards to the regular season, that they were bound to give out injury reports on players?
I don't really know the extent of his injury. I just feel that given how long it is taking for the team to report it is certainly not a good indication.

My statement on that takes into account the assumption that HIPPA laws still have precedence, and that the player hasn't waived the Right to privacy with his medical information. For injury reports, I think it only requires the coach to report accurate availability status and general information on the injury - in this case, that would be "Lauvao, Ankle, Out".

In more former browns that never amounted to much news, both hillis and mccoy left their games with injuries. Doing what they do best, mccoy overthrows a reciever and puts too much air under it and gets picked of by mike adams, and gets hurt on the same play, then hillis gets his knee whacked and fumbled.

Don't forget that Phil Dawson actually missed a FG. (gasp) It was a 44 yarder.
Looks like the bottom is falling out on him, and Banner was right ......
