Please don't compare this team to the Pats. We've had multiple front office staff, multiple back drafts and free agent busts and so forth. Pat's have had a good base for awhile now, and have been able to focus on depth. We've not had that "base" of quality people, therefore our depth is shaky.

It's always "next man up" but it isn't always "the next man up produces and we don't miss a beat"

Yep. We've had too much turnover for that. And if this staff doesn't accomplish something credible, they'll be gone in a couple of seasons, too.

I remember really liking Shurmur (until the first preseason game) too.

That said, in only single off season, we seem to have better depth than we've had in years.

Should Greg Little's driving be part of the injury report?

I drove *100-110 in my saturn ion once. Hit the limiter

Glad I wasn't a millionaire at that age. Can't blame the guys for being as stupid as I was while having an incredible amount of money.

Hopefully he continues to mature off the field and can stop the wreckless behavior. It is pretty amazing he crashed at the speed and came away unharmed.

"Little was pulled over Monday night in Strongsville, Ohio, and ticketed for driving 81 mph in a 60-mph zone"
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000...iving-incidents

By the way the 127mph infraction was in April, he recently was pulled over for doing 81 in a 60mph zone. It's been a while since I was home but that stretch on 176 by Springhill is made for speed. Isn't that were our linebacker wrecked?
What is amazing about the 127mph was he crashed the Audi, said hit a pot hold & blew out the back tires. Lucky he wasn't killed. I don't believe he was cited because he told the police how fast he was going was not caught in the act of speeding.

Didn't Winslow just leave there?

Perhaps he's like Schleprock and the things just follow him wherever he goes.

Further speaking of former Browns, it appears that our former starter is battling it out with our former backup to be the backup out west ..... It's not an injury ..... though someone may wind up with their feelings hurt.

I do wonder how Colt felt about working with Mangini after airing all the dirty laundry when Mangini was fired.

http://www.csnbayarea.com/49ers/wallace-enters-competition-49ers-backup-qb-job

SANTA CLARA -- Quarterback Seneca Wallace, a new addition to the 49ers on Thursday, hit the practice field with new team on Friday.

On Sunday, he is expected to suit up and play in the 49ers' exhibition game against the Minnesota Vikings, coach Jim Harbaugh said.

"There (are) numerous plays in our system that he's done before, whether it's (in) Cleveland or Seattle," Harbaugh said. "So it's just a matter of learning how we call them and getting familiar with the quarterback-center exchange. The timing with the receivers might not be precise and exact, but to be able to get out, play and compete, I feel he can do that."

Wallace, 33, spent his first seven seasons with the Seahawks. He did not play his first two years and started 14 games over the five seasons in Seattle. He moved onto the Cleveland Browns, where he started seven games as Colt McCoy's backup in 2010 and 2011. His head coach was Eric Mangini, who is now on Harbaugh's staff as senior offensive consultant.

"Good feedback," Harbaugh said of Mangini's input. "Felt like he could do a lot of the things that a quarterback who can move can do in our system. Thought he'd be worth exploring."

Wallace was out of work last season after the Browns released him in training camp. While he watched games every week from his offseason home in Dallas, the Sacramento native took particular notice of the obvious trend sweeping the NFL.

Wallace, who entered the NFL as a dual threat quarterback while at Iowa State, was born about a dozen years too late.

"When I came in, they didn't glorify that," Wallace said. "We didn't want mobile quarterbacks. Now, they're utilizing kids' talents, and that's a good thing.

"If I came out now, it would be a different story, but I don't have any regrets. I'm happy to still be playing football."

The 49ers have not exactly gotten impressive play from those competing to serve as Colin Kaepernick's backup. And that opens the door for Wallace, released Monday by the New Orleans Saints, to enter the competition.

"The fact that you can get an experienced quarterback like Seneca Wallace at this stage, where you have 7-to-10 days left until there's a cutdown to the final roster, and a chance to put him in and do more than just a workout," Harbaugh said. "You get a chance to actually practice and play in a preseason game or two. So (I) felt like there was no downside to doing that."

McCoy and Scott Tolzien, who has been limited in practice this week due to an undisclosed injury, were not impressive in the first two exhibition games. Rookie B.J. Daniels has seen an increase in practice reps as his game-winning touchdown drive late against the Kansas City Chiefs has elevated him into the conversation.

"If he (Tolzien) is good to go, 100 percent or close to it, we'll split it up after Kap four ways," Harbaugh said.

McCoy and Wallace both have 21 career NFL starts. Neither Tolzien or Daniels has ever played in a regular-season game. But those credentials means little to Harbaugh.

"Whoever the best player is and gives us the best chance of winning the game as a backup quarterback," Harbaugh said, "that's who you want on your roster, whether he has game experience or not."

I am a little confused on Mingo's injury. God knows I love slick, but he does tend to take the Armageddon approach, but you don't. So, are there new reports out there that say Mingo might be done for the year?

There have been only a couple of reports on Mingo. One is pure speculation (cabot) which is based on what a few experts that haven't ever met Mingo are saying is possible. And I can't argue those points because I"m not a doctor so sure, the doom and gloom they say is possible, probably is. (there has actually been several stories written but they all site the same doctors, one in California and the other at UH here in Cleveland, again, neither of which have actually examined Mingo)

Thank you.

I know i can tend to be the doom and gloom and i apologize for that, but like i said before it looks like there is more to this back injury then they are leading on. Now he might not be ready for week 1. For anyone out there who has back problems....are repeated and often back spasms a sign of something seriously wrong with your back?

I hope is too. We forked over a ton of money for him. But, if he can't, I like our backup in Winn.

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

That's a shame about Cooper. I was watching him play last week and that kid really stood out. They were talking about how smart he is, but what really stood out was how quick and agile he was. Man, he was impressive.

The injured knee isn’t the knee that kept him on the market for an extended period after his contract with the Browns expired.

So now he's got two shredded knees. I guess that's what happens when you play like a maniac the entire time you are in the NFL.

Browns tight end Jordan Cameron's nagging groin injury a concern

Browns starting tight end Jordan Cameron is idle again with a strained groin that has been bothering him since organized team activities.

He apparently aggravated the injury Saturday night in Indianapolis, and is currently listed as day-to-day. Cameron rested during practice today and is expected to sit out Thursday night's preseason finale in Chicago.

Cameron also suffered aggravated a pulled hamstring this camp and has struggled to stay healthy.

Fortunately for the Browns, tight end Gary Barnidge returned to the field today after suffering a sprained shoulder against the Lions Aug. 15.

The nagging groin injury is a concern, because the Browns are counting on Cameron to be a huge part of the offense this year, especially in the red zone. Against the Lions, he caught two touchdown passes and another leaping 27-yard grab.

In addition to Barnidge, the Browns also signed Kellen Davis as a free agent from the Bears in the offseason.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

I think that we're almost going to have to look for another TE in the final cuts. Between Cameron and Barnidge each nursing injuries, the only other guys are Davis, Smelley, and Gronkowski as far as I can recall. That's a scary situation.

Cameron scares the hell out of me. He's a talented kid, but he simply cannot stay healthy.

I have the feeling that Cameron is going to get hurt everytime he touches the ball. He's soft like Evan Moore and injury prone like Kellen Winslow.
