My guess is the last spot will be filled by who they cut for the kicker, not Smelley.

That assumes that the guy we cut for the Kicker will be practice squad eligible. He may not be.

With 9 udfa rookies on the roster I can't believe we would be cutting someone else.

Rainey is in his second season as a Pro... finished his rookie season on the Raven's IR list, with a knee injury. No idea how serious that injury was, but looking at Rainey's college career, he had 888 carries in his four years with 369 his senior season...

...Rainey has a lot of miles on those knees and given his size at 5-7 and 206, there could be questions about his durability.

Dennis Johnson, 5'-7", 195...RB/KR...broken ankle and awarded a medical redshirt for 2010. Productive running, catching as well as returning the football...has an issue with fumbles.

Both of these guys appear to be good additions but I question their ability to pick up the blitz as well Johnson's ability to hang onto the ball. Durability is also a concern for both players now that they are playing at the NFL level.

Fumble the ball and these new guys can cost the Browns a win...miss a block, they cost your QB the season. As backup RBs, hanging on to the ball and protecting the QB are more important than running the ball...hopefully both understand that.

Hopefully they can learn Chuds playbook in 6 days...

That could be the case. If Smelley isn't signed today, then it probably is the case.

As for Quinn Sharp, he clearly has the leg for kickoffs/longer kicks in Cleveland ... but does he have the accuracy?

"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."
