The point here is that you don't have to make "helmet to helmet contact" ... If you target and hit above the shoulders, that's the penalty.
I'm not going to bash Roby for it ... Guys go for big hits, it happens. But by rule, it's the right call. I think it's dumb he was ejected for it ... But I think it's dumb when ANY player gets ejected for it. Right call, terrible rule.

Roby hit him with his shoulder pad in the arm pit, that's not targeting

Been watching the OSU game....but looking at box score seeing
Hundley is 10/18 for 58 yards 1 int with 3 mins in the 3Q. *edit: 7 rushes for 42 yards too
Was really looking forward to seeing him in that game, but no way watching that over Ohio State

A still-shot isn't going to convince me. I watched the video. Roby gathers himself and launches upward towards the receivers head. The crown of his helmet makes contact with the receivers facemask.
It's a pretty simple call, in my opinion.

Here's the targeting rule: The targeting rule is as follows:link
• No player shall target and initiate contact vs. opponent with the crown of his helmet.
• No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent. Roby initiated contact with his shoulder pad on the shoulder pad.

The rule sucks, but it sure looks like the crown of his helmet drove into the facemask.

According to the rule he has to initiate contact there, it's not targeting if it happens after he has made contact.

Wow! What a run by Miller, and then an even more spectacular run by Hyde! That was incredible!

Carlos Hyde is a perfect fit for the Browns. He can pass block, catch and pound the rock.

What a great run by Hyde. He has literally carried us the past few games. When he gets going and runs angry he's unreal.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Cooper is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Moore is flanked out wide to the right. Chubb and Ford are split in the backfield as Watson takes the snap ... Here we go."

That was not targeting. He hit him w/his shoulder on the shoulder.
Buckeye defense isn't that great. We give up too many easy yards.
On the other hand, our offense is loaded.
It should be interesting watching team after team fall. The announcers had it right.......just survive, baby.

Good finish by the Buckeyes... would have lked to win by more but I'll take a win
Texas A&M looked good but just ran out of magic today... great game though, back and forth... Manziel got hurt which hurt their chances to win and man they need a new D-Cordinator
Tenn with a huge win today! Wow another great finish!
How did Georgia lose to Vandy?!? Unreal...
let's hope we can get a few more upsets tonight... Ol Miss is playing really well right now, I think FSU wins big tonight, though I'd love to see Oregon or Bama go down I don't think there's any chance of that...
I am cheering for USC to beat up on ND, that actually is lookign to be a good game.... lots of good football on today!

They have been impressive.
Either that or Clemson was really overrated.

I should add that I was really hoping for an uninspired close game with a Clemson loss. I think that it's very likely that Florida State will jump OSU in next week's polls because of the thrashing they put on Clemson.

I have no doubt FSU jumps OSU.. heck, I'm picking them over OSU right now... and might even put them second ahead of Oregon since Oregon is playing a much closer game against Wash State.
My top 10 looks something like this
1. Bama 2. FSU 3. Oregon 4. OSU 5. Miami 6. Baylor 7. Standford 8. Missouri 9. Texas Tech 10. Clemson
Dunno how it'll look tomorrow, but after a long day of college football (and a few drinks) that's where my top 10 is...

I will say Bama looks unbelievable.. will be interesting to see how they play these next two weeks.
I think UT is a very good team on the upswing (though expect them to lose against bama) and think LSU will give them hell and that game could go either way

OSU just needs to "survive" each week. That many wins in a row will be hard to ignore. Additionally, we see undefeated teams getting knocked off each week.
Good things are happening, such as UCLA getting beat by Stanford. Clemson lost. SC lost again and they can beat Mizzou. LSU lost again and they can beat "Bama.
As long as we keep taking care of business, we should be okay.

On "Colin's New Football Show (ESPN) ) He just noted that Tennessee has been beating and contending with teams in the SEC all year. - And that earlier this year, Tennessee got destroyed by Oregon. - His comments were along the lines of the SEC having Alabama and then a bunch of average teams. I couldn't agree more. Also considering that two of the SEC's traditionally better teams - Georgia and Florida both got beat by ACC teams.
The ACC and Pac 12 are both better overall football conferences than the SEC. However, if Alabama goes undefeated, we can't keep them out of the title game, considering it is their title to defend from last year. However, we have seen the last of 1 loss SEC teams getting into the title game. Should Alabama lose, that leaves no undefeated SEC teams left (save Mizzou). Which also means that we will be watching Oregon, Florida State, and Ohio State vying for the national championship.
One other note, should Ohio State go undefeated, not get into the BCS title game but then win their bowl game, we have a team that went undefeated for two years and we will also have a split national title on our hands. - The same way we did back when USC and LSU each topped postseason polls after the 04(?) season.

So is he a good enough reason to hold on a 1st round QB and build up a stash of Picks to use to go up and get him?

I think if there's not a QB there that you love that you could trade up for or who would drop to you then I would try to get another first rounder next year... this kid looks like the real deal... I have only seen him twice, but I think he's going to be a great QB as he gets older...
but Id hate to wait another year....

They're gonna have a special 100th year anniversary of the Rose Bowl trophy this year. If we don't make it to the natty that's not a bad consolation prize.
Also if we go undefeated, where does Braxton rank all time among Buckeye players? Obviously Guiton won a few games for us, but they weren't game Braxton couldn't have won.

I say no. There is no guarantee you would be in position to take a guy, who right now looks like a future overall #1. Definitely not worth packing it in again.
However, you do have Hoyer who I think most of us would be OK with, going into 2014 as the starter (with or without a first round QB on the bench), and if after that season you are in position for Winston? That'd be nice.
Considering we didn't have a 2nd, and traded some other picks away, I think Lombardi and Banner need to use most of these 2014 picks.

We'd have no shot. With the way the other top QB prospects looked this weekend, Jacksonville wouldn't take 4 first round picks to trade out of the spot to draft the Florida state superstar QB.

The 2014 draft has a lot of depth and potential at QB but no sure fire franchise QB's. Maybe 1 or 2 will develop into a franchise type QB but all have their flaws.
The 2015 draft will be all ablout Winston of Florida State. The kid is unreal. He has the size, is mobile, and has the "it" factor.
I also like the Hackenburg kid from Penn State. The taelnt around him is far below other BCS schools right now due to their probation issues but that kid can reallt throw the ball. He also has NFL size and the adversity he is dacing at Penn State will help him in the NFL. I just am not sure what year he comes out. He was loyal to PSU when the probation was announced so I could possibly see him pull a Peyton Manning and stay all 4 years.
I think right now Winston and Hackenburg are the best pro prospect QB's in college.

He'll be a Redshirt So. I wouldn't hold our breaths waiting for him to declare. Kevin Hogan is still my favorite QB in this draft after Tahj and Teddy. Though I doubt he'll declare this year.

You're pretty damn close.
What a shake-up yesterday. Makes me feel confident OSU will get there if they take care of their business.
The Big Ten just needs to pick their game up. Iowa had a great game plan yesterday, but they do the conference no good when they lose to NIU earlier in the year, I don't care how god NIU is, it's a bad look. Michigan barely beating Akron and Uconn doesn't help either.

If Oregon beats Washington, Stanford, UCLA (all better teams than any team Ohio State will face), and the Pac-12 South champion they have to be in the championship game.

I don't think Washington is that great. and as it stands the AP has 3 Big Ten teams besides OSU in front of them.
But yes, if Oregon runs the table, they definitely get the heads up.

No way OSU would jump an undefeated FSU, Oregon, or Bama... all three have looked much better than OSU
Ohio State is undefeated but they haven't had any overwhelming wins... they've taken care of business but all three of the teams ahead of us have destroyed people... Bama got a bit of a scare against A&M but if I remember correctly none of the three teams ahead of us have had any really close/scary games.
I still wouldn't be surprised if two of the three teams ahead of us lose a game, but whatever... if we get into the NC awesome, if not that's fine. I just want to take care of business... lots of football left.

Wow. That's a tough question.
I'm not sure he is that good. I've only seen him a few games. Besides, can you imagine what our fans would say if traded for more picks to put off getting a qb a year later?
The only saving grace is that maybe Hoyer can give us a good year. I don't know. What do you think?
I think we almost certainly draft a qb in round one this year. What do you think?
