I'm glad Bama is finally using Derrick Henry. He was the all time rushing yards leader in high school football history.

Really great game for the Sooners. Once they were able to turn Bama into a passing team, their pass rush just owned the Bama OL.

Trevor Knight had an amazing game tonight. Man ..... 4 TD and 1 INT against Alabama in a Sugar Bowl? That is just unbelievable.

Congratulations Sooners. Well deserved and well earned victory.

LSU beats Iowa by a touchdown: SEC SEC SEC!

Oklahoma trounces Bama: Well they didn't care about that game because it wasn't the national championship.

I love SEC logic.

Maybe on paper but it really doesn't surprise me all that much. I watched Bama several times this year and they were not the dominant team they have been in the past. Their schedule wasn't as strong as in the past and I just felt all year that they were not the best team in the country.. Still very good but not where they have been the last few years...

And I look for FSU to roll Auburn.

Just crazy that bama's defense got owned oike that on the ground v. Auburn then the air v. Oklahoma. Stoops shows he still has it.

Why?? What are you going to brag about. I'd say the SEC is in fine shape as far as the bowls have gone.

I still think the SEC is the best conference but for this year I do think the gap between the other conference isn't as wide as ESPN and SEC fans believe.

I wish the playoffs were this year, I would love to see Michigan St. vs Auburn/Fla. St. for the NC. That defense is legit.

I agree wih that. Somewhere on here this year i have said the SEC appears to be a bit down. It took a couple of lucky plays for Auburn to get in....

I've already heard 3 people on ESPN say that exact same thing. "Bama didn't have anything to play for" or "Once they lost against Auburn I didn't think they'd try too hard in their bowl game".

You can't have it both ways.

Doesn't really matter, I think FSU is going to get rolled.

Man, Alabama should be thankful they didn't have to play Missouri in the SEC Championship. That secondary would have been TORCHED by Missouris WRs. Worst possible matchup for Bama.

I honestly think FSU will beat Auburn rather easily.

Yup, and if OSU loses tonight? Lock and load, buckeye fans.

The SEC is a great conference, but their fans are by far the biggest group of excuse makers on this planet besides US politicians.

You forgot Gomer Jones, and Jim McKenzie, and Gary Gibbs, and Howard Schnellenberger, and John Blake.

Actually, Stoops did pull that program out of a bit of a downward spiral. In the 10 years prior to him being hied, Oklahoma went a combined 61-48-3. They went to only 3 bowl games in 3 years prior to Stoops .... but went to bowl games in every one of his seasons as head coach.

Yep, I'll stand by what I said ....... it took a Youngstown guy to turn that program around.

Peen, serious question.. what happened to those vaunted SEC defenses? That used to be the difference maker in that conference.. are other conferences catching up? I believe every team in the SEC gave up over 22 a game except Bama and the 4 really good teams they played.. A&M scored 42, LSU 17, Auburn 34 and Oklahoma 45... (I know, some of that was on the offense) but they got gouged at times..

Inexperienced defenses facing either experienced QBs or very physically gifted ones. Alabamas secondary is almost as bad as OSUs. They don't have a shut down CB. They also had safeties that got completly lost without Vinny Sunseri. Lastly, who did they have that could rush the passer? This might have been Nick Sabans best performance coaching wise this season. They have CJ Mosley, but who really "stands out" on that defense? I've heard Adrian Hubbard, but he hasn't done anything all year. Trey Depriest is solid, but he's not a future NFL player.

There were not a whole lot of good defenses in college football this year.

I think the 2 best defenses played in the Rose Bowl the other day... Outside of those 2 and maybe LSU, there were no great defenses.

Alabam has a very good defense, it's just a lot of guys bought into their own hype.

Adrian Hubbard- Great athlete, where's the production?

HaHa Clinton Dix- Great athlete, but inconsistent. Bob Stoops completly neutralized him with his gameplan yesterday.

Trey Depriest- Solid, but nothing amazing.

D-line- No dominating NT like Jesse Williams. I see some future rotational NFL guys though.

I assume the NFL draft isn't helping much either. The more people think the SEC is where the talent is, the more NFL GMs pull that talent away. I would guess it's hard to keep filling the conference with top tier talent when the NFL keeps snatching them up so fast.

But then again, I didn't really do any analysis of the past 2-3 drafts either. Just a guess.

If I'm Urban Meyer / Gene Smith I give this incentive to players:

•Win and you get to chill in Miami for a few days

•Lose and you get shipped to Columbus and subzero temperatures tonight

You're absolutely correct. In the years between Switzer and Stoops, it wasn't pretty, not even a little bit. Stoops came in and drove us right back into the national championship conversation. He's had the knock on him that he can't win the big one as he's lost a numbrer of bowl games to considered lesser talented teams but he turned the TIDE on that last night.

The other conferences started to play SEC style offense. You have to spread it out to beat speed. Not bunch up. Most everybody knows the field is 100 yards from goal to goal, but never consider is is 53.33 yards wide. Make them defend 53 of those width yards and the length becomes easier to beat.

It's like Hockey. You get 4 on 4....it is exciting....way more ice to cover, thus more open ice. Spread it out in football, more open field for the D to defend.

Pretty simple in my mind.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

I'm sure that was just a mistype, as it was 3 bowl games in the 10 years between Switzer and Stoops.
