So Maryland went to Duke and probably should have won but as is their habit this year, they fell just short. Two minutes later NCSU took Syracuse to the final shot and probably should have won but, in similar fashion to Maryland, didn't... Two middle of the pack ACC teams took the two best teams to the final buzzer in their own gyms.. not sure if that means the top of the ACC isn't very good or the middle is better than people expect. Either way, short of winning the ACC tournament for the automatic, Maryland is running out of chances to get a signature win or two to put them back in the conversation.

Someone needs to explain why Clark Kellogs jersey # isn't retired for OSU. I think Evan Turner is a lock to have his jersey retired. Kelvin Ransey probably should be as well.

Random question, if osu is ranked 23, or whatever, why have I heard people say the buckeyes may barely make the tourney? If the season ended today, wouldn't that be a 6 or 7 seed in the tournament?

NO, unless they lose a majority of their games, they"re in very easily. Probably looking at a 3-6 seed.

I would retire Oden's jersey. I know he only played 1 year, but he was the most dominant buckeye I've ever seen. If not for one of the best teams in Florida in recent memory, the buckeyes would've had a championship with Greg.

Yeah pretty much, although Conley was a big part of that also. It was pretty much those two that carried the load though. It's a shame they didn't win it all as they would've been remembered as one of the better OSU teams of all time.

I thought about Sully too. I badly wanted him to succeed more than any player we've had. However, he never won anything so it's why I can't include him or Oden.

Evan Turner is an absolute 100% lock to have his jersey retired. 3/4 guys up right now won NPOY.

I was hoping that Syracuse would win last night.. and if they lost I was hoping that Florida would also lose because I really wanted to see Wichita State move to #1...

Oden was more accomplished and the better player in.my opinion. Guy literally blocked off the paint for opponents. I think turner is on par with redd. Definitely 3 of the best buckeyes of our generation.

Kentucky is a team that no oen is going to be able to figure out what to do with when the brackets come out.

The knock is they don't have any good wins outside of Louisville and that's far, but they don't have any 'bad' losses, either.

0 top 25 RPI wins (Louisville 31) but also 0 losses outside the RPI top 65 (Two between 50-65 -- @Arkansas and @LSU)

We could be anywhere between a 2 seed (if we win out, winning @Florida and winning the SEC tourney -- so unlikely)

and a 5 seed (if we beat the teams we're supposed to beat -- Everyon but Florida, and lose early in the SEC tourney)

OSU is so damn frustrating. We scored only 18 points in the first half. Then, in the 2nd half they beat the breaks off of Minnesota. It's going to take a monumental effort to beat OSU when we're at our best. Sparty is the only teams I've seen be able to do it in the past.

It's a wide open tournament. No real favorite. My expectations are still the sweet 16. Just don't have enough confidence in our offense to score enough. If we could beat Sparty, and a team like Wisconsin, that would really help our seeding. The big 10 probably only gets 5. Nebraska and Minny are right on the bubble.

Feeling very frustrated myself tonight with the Bearcats, the lack of offense outside of Kilpatrick will probably doom them in the tournament.

The refs were pitiful as well. With 1:30 to go in the game they took 7 minutes to review an out of bounds play and reversed the call two times. This killed the momentum the Bearcats had going as Louisville was stuck on 51 points for a good amount of time, but regrouped during this delay and got their offense back on track.

It's not all on the refs though, the calls were bad both ways. Just off the top of my head I recall Justin Jackson getting away with batting a ball that was sitting on the rim and no goal tending was called. That was at a critical point late in the game as well.

Ole Miss gave us a good scare but the D clamped down when needed.

The Gators are looking pretty balanced and good.

Does anybody else think that the Ohio St. player that came here from Italy is the worst player to ever dress in a OSU uniform? Every game I have seen him on the court, he does nothing productive. What was Matta thinking with this guy? He looks like someone put a basketball uni on Goofy and he plays like it.

BUT - the Big Ten Network sales in Italy went way up when they signed him.

Do you remember PJ Hill? He was actually a starter.

Anybody see Boeheim go ape crap the other night against Duke? It was a bad call, should have been blocking or a no call.. I think he had a right to be upset (welcome to life at Cameron coach.)

That said, it was still a 2 point game and Duke would have had the ball with enough time for Syracuse to pull it out... Boeheim's double technical gave Duke 4 free throws and essentially cost his team any chance at pulling that game out...

So while I understand his frustration, as one of the 2 or 3 most respected coaches in the game, you just can't do that to your team...

I didn't think the call was all that horrible. Boeheim needs to control himself. You're right that he did cost his team the game.

Both of those teams are really good though. Next month is going to be awesome. Seems like more of a top heavy year rather than a wide open tournament like last year.

I think Kansas is the best team, but I expect the tourney to be as wild as ever. Wichita State is a huge question mark. They have played no one, if they get a 1, I could see them not handling the pressure. It's easier being a cinderella, than a top seed, just ask Gonzaga from a year ago. Syracuse, Arizona, and Florida are solid, but they could be upset early as well.

Kansas is going to be insanely hard to beat because of their big 3 of Selden, Embiid and Wiggins. Them plus Perry Ellis are the most talented starting 5 in America.

I agree. they have played the toughest schedule, so that should help in the tourney. I will put some money on Kansas to win it all. Right now they are a 7-1. Florida is the favorite at 5-1, followed by michigan state at 8-1. Ohio State is 30-1.

It wasn't horrible but I do think it was wrong... that is with the benefit of slow motion instant replay...

Everybody I listen to (and being in Raleigh that's pretty much everybody) seems to want to debate block or charge... the one thing I haven't heard discussed much is.. I don't think it was imperative to make a call at all... The contact was not violent or even all that consequential... After looking at it a number of times, I wish the ref had just let them play...

Wichita State is a returning Final-4 team who is now undefeated. I don't know if they will get back to the Final-4 (back-to-back is tough no matter who you are), but I also don't think that them losing will be because they received a #1 seed.

My dream Final-4 if everyone is healthy (big question mark for 2 of these teams):

Arizona
Kansas
Michigan State
Creighton

Note: that's who I would be most excited about a Final-4, not who I'm projecting to actually make it though all have a chance if healthy.

Yeah, you always want to see that. I would have been fine with a no call. I wish there were more no calls in those types of situations.

I think the block/charge/no call decision may be the hardest call in sports.

If you want a sleeper, I think Green Bay could make a huge run. They have a 7' center in Alec Brown, and a great guard in Keifer Sykes. They beat Virgina early in the year, and only lost to Wisconsin by 3. Depending on their bracket, I could see them in the elite 8 or sweet 16.

If Aaron Gordon was 2-3 inches taller I'd understand the Blake Griffin comparison. He's just too short for me to say that it's a fair comparison. He'll be an excellent defender in the NBA though.

I didn't see the game. I recorded the Ohio State game and was watching it while the Duke/Syracuse game was on.

I do know this, though...................no team gets away w/more than Duke. They foul like crazy and there is never a call and yet, the other team always gets touch fouls. I got so disgusted that I rarely watch their games.

Duke is historically a very good, disciplined team who plays the game the right way. I will give them that.

That said, I believe that reputation gets them the benefit of the doubt on a lot of the 50/50 calls, especially as it relates to the block/charge call.

I'm not a big conspiracy theorist, I don't believe there is a concerted effort on the part of the refs to give them calls, I just think their reputation is the deciding factor if its close.

I have watched Duke for 35 years and I believe the current trend started with one guy.. Shane Battier. He was a great player, great hustle player, very disciplined player... but he had that reputation, if you got within 2 feet of him and he fell down, you were going to get the charge call 90% of the time.

Why does nobody talk about Noah Vonleh? He had a weird growth spurt like Anthony Davis. He was actually a very perimeter oriented guy before getting to Indiana. Now scouts don't know what position to put him at because of his size, length and athleticism. He could play SF in spurts, but mostly PF and C. He's 6'10, 240 with a 7'4 wingspan and is excellent defensively. He doesn't have the foot speed of Anthony Davis (which is what will make AD a future HOF). However, he can block shots and play some defense.

NCST punched their ticket to the NIT in not stopping Marcus Paige at all...

TJ Warren scores 36 and you don't win cuz you let Marcus Paige score 35 including an uncontested push to half court, then off a ball screen going left, and down the lane for a layup...

Huge Mistake by NCST and it lost them the game. Gotta run 2 at Paige end of the game...force ANYONE else to take the last shot...and with :07.7 left...don't let the PG push the ball up the floor. UGH

Aaron Craft is extremely unclutch. He either gives up buzzer beaters or turns the ball over late.
