I think LaCanfora is smoking crack. Are these people just trying to stir up crap and effect our young talent? http://www.ohio.com/blogs/cleveland-brow...report-1.440318Quote:
Tight end Jordan Cameron is the latest Browns player to have his name mentioned in trade speculation.
Jason La Canfora of CBS reported today that some who have been in contact with the Browns, believe the team would entertain offers for Cameron as well as wide receiver Josh Gordon, who has been at the center of trade rumors since Sept. 22. The Browns would need a “steep haul” of picks and/or players to deal Cameron or Gordon, according to the report.
The Browns have been among the most active teams leading up to the NFL trade deadline at 4 p.m. Tuesday, La Canfora reported.
Cameron, a fourth-round draft pick in 2011, is in the middle of a breakout season. Cameron, 25, entered this weekend with a career-high 45 catches for 515 yards and six touchdowns.
Other Browns players who have been named in trade rumblings include wide receiver Greg Little and right offensive tackle Mitchell Schwartz.

I would have zero issues if we traded Cameron for a high pick. I think his stock will never be higher than it is right now and I also feel he is soft, he doesnt like contact and is one of those people that will always be looking for an injury excuse.
Love his talent and potential but i dont trust it as far as I can throw Big Phil.

Seems to me that LaCanfora is getting lots of mileage out of being Lombardi's pool boy.

This is the guy who said Weeden would start this week.
But to be fair, everyone ripped him in the preseason for the 'hatchet' job he did, and that article is pretty much spot on in hindsight. He even called out Hoyer as a potential starter.
I don't really care about trade rumors until they become reality. But whether there's truth to them or not, they shouldn't be so widely reported. If the guy is tight with Lombardi, then Lombardi should tell him to cool it a bit.

For starters lets's not pretend like LaConfora didn't get this from Lombardi.
It's obvious this team will stop at nothing to get a QB. In that sense, I admire them, and I appreciate them for it. They seem to be the first FO that actually understands they can't win with the Chuck Fryes of the world. I think this will make us better in the long run if we can actually get the right guy.
But the fire sale is annoying. It doesn't just scream of stockpiling picks. It screams of over thinking things and "he's not our guy, we didn't draft him". There seems to be no understanding at all that trading "proven" for "unknown" doesn't always work out. I think it's important to keep some cornerstones on this team. Hey, I'm in the QB makes everyone better camp, but we can't trot out Muriota with 10 guys from this board either.

I think that anyone on the Browns is available for the proverbial right price.
Big deal.
The only players a successful NFL team probably would not consider trading and a premium pass rusher, a franchise QB, a shutdown corner, and maybe a true gamebreaker receiver. (who doesn't have major issues hanging over his head)
If someone came to the Browns with some ridiculous offer, like 2 1st round picks, then they would have to strongly consider a trade.

I would rather trade Gordan then Cameron...with that being said i dont want to lose either.....Why would you trade cameron who is clearly on hsi way to becoming a probowl type of player? MAKES NO SENSE. He doesnt have off field issues like Gordan either. if we trade cameron then there is no defending banner or Lombardi

Maybe he did get it from Lombardi and maybe he didn't. That's immaterial to me. Why? Because I don't view this rumor as a fire-sale. I view it as smart business. If a team is dumb enough to send us a basket of high picks for a TE, great, let's do it, and one way to see if that' possible is to have rumors like this out there.
This is smart business from where I'm sitting because for the right price even Joe Thomas can be had. Wanna give us 3 first round picks for him? Yeah, I'll take that deal.
For a team that doesn't have the talent to compete with the big boys, it makes smart business sense to see if there are any takers willing to buy high on our commodities.
This isn't a fire-sale. This is prospecting. Big difference.

I do not think Cameron will be traded. But, almost everyone has a price and if a team absolutely blows the FO away with an offer it is possible.
2014 this team will have an overhauled re-built offense and that is certain. New QB, new Running back, possibly a new wide receiving core with Gordon and Little also on the chopping block, and now a possible new tight end.
That is the message being sent right now in the locker room. Step up or you will get replaced plan and simple. The coaching staff and FO are sending messages down to the players with all of these rumors. They will not accept lack luster play on the field. Let's hope Gordon, Little, and Cameron all hear that message and play with a real fire and hunger the rest of the season.

I do expect that teams will call the Browns about any number of players. To me, that's a compliment to the player(s) called about. I doubt that many teams are calling to try and trade for Paul Hazel, or Eric Martin, or even Leon McFadden. Teams are looking for players who are clear upgrades, and that's a compliment for these guys that this is how other teams see them.

All I see is us having young talent that other NFL teams covet. One of the most active...or one of the most with young talent that others wish we were a Regime looking to blow up everthing Heckert brought here...

There is a report that trade rumors in the media affect young players. All the trade rumors are started in the media. Other teams know the Browns are young. Other teams are always the ones telling the media about these trade rumors. Other teams are messing with our player's heads.

While I know Hoyer didn't face "great teams or D's", this team looked very competitive and played very intense in those two games.
To me, it makes me wonder just how far we really are away from having the talent it would take to "compete with the big boys", if we actually had a franchise QB.
Do I believe a franchise QB alone would solve all of our problems? No I don't. Yet at the same time, I don't believe we are as far away from it as some would try to have us believe.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

At this point, I'm not sure what to think about these trade rumors.
I get that we really need that franchise qb, but if we don't have any playmakers to go w/him.......what good is it?
I get trading Gordon, due to his drug issues. But Cameron?
Is it made up? Are the Browns fueling these reports? I have no idea, but they are getting annoying.

I wonder if there is anything to the line of thinking that they (the Browns FO) doesn't say much before a trade. It seems like everything is quiet and then Boom, TRich is on his way to Indy....
Not a word was said about it prior to the trade. I didn't hear a word anyway. So, the question is, do they float this to see what they get, or is the media taking a flyer all by themselves.

The FO didn't sign or draft a franchise-type TE in the off season. Instead, they elected to believe Cameron could be that guy. So far he's proved he is that guy. I can't, under any circumstances, see this FO fielding trade offers for him. He's given them everything they wanted and more. He's proved them right when many of us had doubts about his ability and durability.
You don't trade away the guy who proves you right by giving all that.
It's all a bunch of phooey.
Likely the Gordon rumors as well.

Trading Gordon I would understand and really wouldn't have too much problems with. He's a high risk guy with a shady past, Trading Cameron would instantly cause the FO lose alot of credibility with players and fans. Cameron is a top 5 capable TE in this league and is from all accounts a stand up guy and does whatever the coaches ask of him. Unless you get a mike ditka type offer, just move on and fix other things, TE isn't one of the things that need fixed.
