It was a decent episode last night. More of a "transition episode" than anything else. I don't want to talk about the episode in detail or turn this into a spoilers-only thread......unless that's ok?

Tonight's episode was weak. The movie premiere of "Cleaver" had an audience resembling the "overeater's anonymous" meeting in North Jersey. It would have been a goldmine if they pulled a raid on that assembly during the showing.

Johnnie Sacks is dead so we won't have to watch his er...er "full figured" wife anymore but that Phil Leotardo character is going to flip out real soon and the next episodes ought to be very good.

Paulie Walnuts ain't looking so good...time for him to take the dirt nap...but my man, Silvio Dante, is still going strong.

I hate these transition episodes. I see something happening like a heated arguement and something happening w/Christopher n Tony. Leotardo there is about to snap and finally "do something" Should be good.

Yes I think the next couple will be that way though. Funny how nothing was said about Bobbys situation from last week. I think they are building it up to where everyone has a vendetta against Tony and it will all come to a head in the final episodes. I found the FBI asking Tony for help interesting. I will be really pissed off if the show ends with Tony turning into a stool pigeon.

I still think Tony ends up dead by a gun blast from his sister (or Christopher). Someone very, very close.

Kay's Korner: Something's rotten in the state of New Jersey

Walk like a man/Talk like a man/Walk like a man my son
-- Frankie Valli

We're less than a week away from Mother's Day, but this past weekend was all about dads and sons. Saturday night we get an hour of Floyd (didn't Dutch kill you in a Central American jungle?) Mayweather Sr. grappling with watching his flesh and blood Floyd Jr. box his other "son" Oscar De La Hoya. The price of admission to the pay-per-view bout was well worth it, just to hear the angst in Floyd Sr.'s voice when he all but said Oscar owned the bout. But boxing was just the undercard to this father-son weekend of fun.

Less than 24 hours later, we get hit with another great last half of the last season of Sopranos. Watching Paulie, eyes ablaze yet focused, chin buried deep into neck, oversized umbrella frown and hands at 10 and 2 moments before he swings a hard left on to the lawn of Christopher's home, was again, worth the price of the May HBO subscription cost. But this wasn't Paulie's episode. "Walk like a man" was about Tony's two sons: His flesh and blood A.J. and his other "son," Christopher.

What we learn from watching Tony's two boys walk like men offers a glimpse into not just the final four episodes, but what this whole suburban psychopathic soap opera is all about.

We start with Christopher, living his own private suburban dream. He's essentially mafia in name only at this point, rather choosing to spend his time having picnics, hosting barbeques and staying sober. He's fresh off the heels of producing his first straight-to-DVD (here, take a hat) movie and he's walking like a man -- a semi-legit man.

Meanwhile, A.J. spends his time on the couch watching Tom and Jerry as he copes with the aftermath of being dumped by his fiancée. He's succumbed to depression, or rather, just letting dad's "rotten, putrid f****** genes infect his soul."

Both will pay the price for their inability to walk like the men who infest the world of The Sopranos.

Christopher's sobriety is constantly ridiculed, his lack of participation is under fire and he's robbed not once, but twice by the Paulies. Not just that, his $40,000 landscaping job is shredded by the Pirellis on Paulie's Cadillac, sending the message of: Yeah, these here suburban roots you've planted, well, don't get too used to them.

Nothing must spell relapse like 40K in decimated landscaping because Christopher and Paulie make amends, and moments later, the hooch is flowing down Christopher's throat, officially marking his reentrance into the Jersey Boys Club. Not only that, he puts a bullet between the eyes of personal whipping boy J.T. Dolan. If you're going to relapse back into the mafia, taking out the guy working for Law & Order is kind of ironic, to say the least.

But "Walk like a man" isn't just about Christopher ponying up to play with the big boys. It's about 20-year-old A.J. finally emerging from that eight-season-long "fetus" position on the couch and evolving into what those "rotten, putrid genes" are supposed to become.

Of course, like all cults, a heavy dose of vulnerability makes for easy pickings. Vulnerable, A.J. is. Fresh off his Blanca bounce, he's "ordered" by Tony to go play with some budding criminals. Play he does. Behind the power of booze, he cuts his bookmaking teeth, helping a few young frat row (fun fact: George W. Bush is a DKE too) gangsters collect. Just like his father a generation ago (Tony was 22 when he "made his bones" with -- hmmm, a bookie), A.J.'s learning to walk the walk needed to be the son his father always wanted.

So what can we expect in the 260-odd minutes remaining in the life and times of the first family of familial crime? Christopher's going down. Before offing Dolan, he admits that with one phone call, the "castle" (read: Hamlet?) would crumble. He tells a fellow Alcoholic's Anonymous member that when the decision on Adrianna came down, it's "when the relationship with him [Tony] got poisoned." Poison? Hamlet CliffsNotes time.

On the surface, Christopher's walking like his old self. He's boozing, killing, probably even motivated to impress T. But he's not walking like a man. If A.J.'s evolution into manhood is joining the family business, Christopher's evolution is more along traditional heroic lines. Walking like a man doesn't mean getting back into rackets, it means, for once, doing what's best for him and his family. Not The Family. It's a more complex form of walking. Think Sisyphus, TV philosophers.

Over these final four episodes we're going to continue to see his evolution into pseudo-heroism. Remember, he's Tony's key out of this life, and when the boss realizes the door is closed and locked from the outside because Christopher's just not that into the whole mob thing anymore, well, let's just say going on fishing trips with Tony might not be such a good idea.

As for A.J., there's a reason David Chase and Co. waited 82 episodes to get the little runt going. Simply, he won't last in this business. He might have those "rotten, putrid genes," but genetics aren't enough to overcome his Fredo-like ineptitude. Simply, the kid doesn't get it. He's not a leader of men and the only thing he's inspiring is people with chinstrap beards to grab a Mach 3.

What this means is Tony's tragic arch is going to cost him both his sons. He's going to kill Christopher (because you can only antagonize people for so long). A.J., like a young water buffalo, is going to get eaten by a lion if he spends too much time in the wild. Because if there's one mafia-movie absolute, it's this: Running a Family always means ruining a family.

======================================================

My new prediction:

Well for starters, something BIG better happen when this ends. I haven't watched every episode so most everyone in the family walks off into the sunset with a smile on their face. I better see carnage, chaos and panic (dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! - Ghostbusters).

I still think Tony dies. Christopher being the shooter is too obvious. And maybe Janice is too. Carmela might be the perfect balance though. Who knows, maybe AJ kills his old man after witnessing Tony hit Carmela and had enough of his bulleying. Hey, maybe Dr. Milfi has some part in this too....she's still in each episode.

If Tony doesn't die, which isn't likely, I think most everyone else will. AJ (maybe), Christopher, Sil, Paulie and Phil will all go down in a blaze of gunfire. Bobby will get pinched and that Russian dude won't come back. The last scene will have Tony sitting over an empire that will just have to restock some guys (AJ) and the whole thing keeps going.

I think I'll have a Soprano's Quiz for those interested. Just like the one we did for the draft. We'll have 25 questions and a tiebreaker. We'll decide on the questions later.

Nope, the ending will have Christopher dying but with Tony learning that despite all of his wanting A.J. to stay away he finds that the apple didn't fall far from the tree as A.J. graduates to the bigs by ...( maybe whacking Christopher ? ) . He then finds that he has failed twice and that the two men he loves have both been tainted by him and the lifestyle. Bobby does not get pinched, Paulie gets whacked by Christopher, who also starts to think what it will be like as a civilian, thus bringing about the whacking by a son who is afraid Chris will rat out his dad. Also, Tony squashes Phil and establishes himself as a true man of power and the Cappo di Cappo.

Uhhh....all your Christopher points were wrong.

I didn't expect that ending for Chris. I don't know how anyone could have predicted that.

Ooops ! Back to the drawing board . I didn't see that end for old Chris . I'm thinking maybe AJ eats a gun because of all the whinning he did to his shrink. Can't wait til Phil gets whacked though...unless he beats Tony to the punch.

wow I did not expect Chris to go out that way.....although right before Tony started suffocating Chris, when he started walking to the other side of the car, I turned to my girlfriend and said " watch Tony is about to kill Chris" and sure enough he "smothers him"

I think theres a war brewing between NY and NJ and I have a feeling Tony will be on the losing end. By the way this season is playing out it is the only way I can see them being able to wrap up the series tightly............Tony getting whacked that is

I didn't see that coming either.

BTW, Wed on A&E they are showing 2 old episodes that were rated as viewers choice. I think it's at 8 or 9.

I think maybe Tony killing Chris like that may come back to haunt him. Like maybe if a war witn NY breaks out and Tony bites it because he doesnt have Chris to portect him.

Or did anyone notice they kept showing the hat Chris was wearing?? From the movie? Think about the movies story line.

Months and weeks ago we all gave our thoughts on the plot and its potential twists......but now there's only one question left to answer:

Will Tony die?

......obviously this was a popular question before but it's really the only question left. I know Phil, AJ, Paulie, Sil, & Meadow are options to die too but do we really care about them the same way we care about Tony? There aren't really many plot points left to play out. Only one more episode left.

So what do you think? I say he dies.

I'm feeling a death to T is coming. Phil will also die in the process.

It was weird how Phil said the big 3 including Tony, Sil and Bobby. I'm very surprised Paulie wasn't included in there.

Future spinoffs will focus on AJ's issues and the respect he gets from his friends.

I think Paulie is mixed up with Phil. Paulie is the one that went off on Sil and Bobby about wiping out Phil. Just a guess.

Actually, midway through last night's episode, I told my wife I thought Tony would get wiped and Bobby would go on a rampage and knock out everyone else ala Michael Corleone. Bobby showed his rage a few episodes back and I thought that might be the surprise twist. Guess that idea is out the window. Maybe AJ picks it up now that Tony tried the "foot in the ass" method he said he should have used when he was in therapy?

AJ? AJ is a basket case. He's as fragile as a snowflake on a Miami summer day. I think Meadow could kick his butt.

Well I guess now that Sil and Bobby are gone Tony wishes he had Christopher by his side.

I was kind of sad to see Sil get it. I always liked him, Bobby I was kind of indifferent on.

For a second at the end when Tony sat down on the bed with the rifle in his hand I thought he was going to stick the muzzle in his mouth and that was how the episode was going to end.

Meadow could kick my butt anytime

lets not forget Tony has had struggles with depression his whole life too. Like it was said maybe the " foot in the ass" could enrage AJ. Remeber what happened when Unle June shot T.

I felt the exact same way...and then I thought to myself...'wait a minute, he's a complete sociopath...he just killed someone about forty-five minutes ago'...and therein lies some of the genius of the show...you're watching bad guys but you care about the bad guys.

You guys are probably on to something here. Remember when T kept hounding Paulie with telling Johnny Sac that Ralph made those fat jokes about his wife? Why wouldn't Phil think Paulie was one of the top players...unless he was involved in some two timing?

On the other hand, I'm about 0 for 672 in predicting what's going to happen in this series.

Yes Paulie has always been close with Johnnie Sacs.

I still think AJ will play prominently in all this. Maybe Paulie takes out T and AJ comes along and gets Paulie Walnuts.

This has been a terrific show that needs to take it's dirt nap.
For the last 3 years the quality has been up and down and now we are all looking to see if A.J. will avenge his Dad if Tony gets it.
A.J. is about as interesting and as dangerous a character as a room full of preschoolers with head lice.

I don't know about the rest of you,, but I'm syked about sundays episode,,, can't wait.

I am also shocked that Sil and Bobby got whacked. (well, Sil is in the hospital, but you know he's a gonner)

I thought it was the funniest thing when T's crew whacked the wrong people.... Geez,, how stupid do you gotta be?

AJ is gonna come out shooting in defense of his father... Meadow is gonna get hit in the cross fire as will Carm.. Tony will be the last man standing when he pulls the trigger on Phil to avenge the murder of his family. and it will fade to black with T holding a smoking gun that he just used to whack Phil...

The End!

Yeah, as if I know anything
