I, like many others, only have passing knowledge of his situation. I don't care much about the money at this point; I merely hope that we are not abandoning him in his time of needed support...

We can still help him if he needs (or even wants it)

But paying someone a salary to play football, when they most likely won't be playing football is not logical...

I liked the move, too. By all accounts, he was reported to be a "pro's pro."

Now, my big questions are: Has he been working on getting well enough to play like he did 2+ years ago? Is there anything to salvage from him being here?

Folks go through rough patches in their lives. Not all of them permanently crash and burn. If Davone can get his life in order, he'd still look good in a Browns uni.

What's the word on his current status? Anybody know?

haven't read or heard one word about his current condition.

'Congratulations' to Davone Bess for most dropped passes last year.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/fantasy-football-today/24500304/larry-fitzgerald-best-hands-in-the-nfl

... The butter-fingers group was led by Davone Bess (14 of 56), Kris Durham (10 of 48) and Aaron Dobson (9 of 46).

The bottom 15 included Vincent Jackson; who dropped 12 of 90; Brandon Marshall, who dropped 15 of 115; and Wes Welker, who dropped 10 of 83.

Did I just miss it, or did Greg Littles name not appear?

Little was asked if he thinks management wants him back. He will carry a salary cap hit of slightly more than $1 million next season, according to spotrac.com.

I don't like that he's dropped so many passes in the past, but I'm hopeful that he can correct that. The cap hit isn't so bad and if he can get rid of the dropsies, he's got really good size. He needs to be working with the coaches on how to catch the ball.

I'm not so hopeful on Greg. He will easily be the weakest part of our receiving corps factoring in Gordon, Cameron, and Hawkins. I'd rather find someone to replace him at #2 and then instantly, Hoyer or whoever has several options both short and deep. Kyle also can open up an offensive playbook all the way too.

I "had" some hope with Little towards the end of the 2012 season. It seemed the last half of the 2012 season, he just woke up. He seemed to be much better at catching the ball.

But then 2013 rolled around and he was back to his old self. For some reason, I have to weigh the fact that he's only seemed to manage one half of a decent season and then regressed rather than built off of it.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Little, for me his inconsistancy from one game to the next leads me to believe there is something lacking in between the ears, with that being said, there is no way for this team to be able to count on his from week to week, to many veriables have to be just right for him to play up to his potential.

I'm not quite ready to give up on Little as yet. Let's see what what training camp/preseason brings and then make a decision...

IMO, we still need someone to compete and push Little and more than likely, take over at the beginning or at some point in the season.

I believe that Little has a lot of untapped potential. He needs to put it all together in which case he would present significant value...

We might get to see Little perform a bit better if he was catching balls thrown by the same QB for more than 3 weeks in a row....

I know it's not a sufficient excuse, but it could be a contributing factor. Not everyone is going to be st00pid-gifted like Josh... and balls thrown with different spin, velocity, etc could throw a lesser player out-of-sync.

Manage to keep the same QB under center for an entire season, and I predict that ALL our receivers' numbers will rise-

Yards after the catch is not the worry with Greg. I wouldn't wanna try to tackle him but those yards mean nothing when the ball isn't in his hands.

I view it as this, if we wanna be better at WR - we find someone else. If we want to focus on other positions - then we roll with Greg for another year and then let him hit free agency in 2015 if he shows he just isn't going to cut it.

Little seems to wear his emotions on his sleeve. I know I am a Homer but a kid living by his emotions just hasn't gotten the "EMOTIONAL SUPPORT" from the browns of late. He was challenged the one game and had an elite game.

But for the most part he might be the product of his emotions. I'm not condoning it I'm making an observation.

My point - he's not the straw that stirs the drink. I liken to lets say the side kick to Michael Irvin from the Cowboys. On a team doing great being 2nd banana he did great - once he went FA to become the Straw to stir he disappeared.

I think once we start rolling - he will become a better player.

I do think the vast majority of the time in downs 1 n 2 teams run the ball..at least we still will That is when you have just two WRs out there. I like his blocking abilities...once we get into passing downs that is hen we will see more of Hawkins n Benjamin. I don't see this big need some dawgs do. I mean the right guy right time that falls to us...sure take the BPA WR. But not as a "need"

In 2+ games with Hoyer, Little caught 3 passes for 19 yards. That doesn't bode well for his future if Hoyer is the QB.

Hoyer really had 2 good games last year, 1 with Weeden, and 1 with Campbell, and one great game, with Campbell.

I caught your sarcasm, so this is not in response to you.

Here's the thing: If you are a receiver in the nfl and you struggle to catch the ball - you are in the wrong position. Period.

Coaches can help you learn routes, formations, coverages, how to run a better route, etc. That stuff is teachable and learnable - but if catching the ball is the issue - well, you can, or you can't.

I do believe that players can improve as far as catching the ball, as they can improve other skills, and also that sometimes a different coach can get far different results.

Whether this will be the case for Little is to be seen, but I hope that he can get back to the 2nd half of 2012, when he caught almost everything.

The days of coaching up Little are over. A good coach evaluating WR's that can't catch well will usually send those players over to the defensive side of the ball early in their career. So IMO he's done with the NFL if he's lost the talent and gift to catch a football on a consistant basis.

The issue with Greg isn't that he can't "catch" the ball... I've seen many interviews where he was in the background catching rockets from the jugs machine and never missing one. It's just come game day when it's time to catch in real-time with defensive players flying around - he loses all his concentration, focus or something...

He is just simply not someone who is anything close to something that is reliable...

Perhaps, except that Little has caught the ball well in the past. I still believe that there is something to work with there.

I agree. The problem with him is mostly on the mental side. The over-celebrations, the immaturity you see from him time to time. He's way too much of a loose cannon. Reminds me a lot of Edwards in that regard.

I believe he has one more year to prove himself. He either comes out as a creme of the crop guy, or goes down in flames. The choice is up to him.

Well, it is his contract year, so generally this is when the player "breaks out", right?

Greg Little has been soooo disappointing. But I still hold out hope for him....foolishly perhaps. Just when I I'm about to write him off, he does something unbelievable. Things many receivers cannot do. "WOW" factor stuff in my book. Not to mention his blocking as a WR has always been good-- but that cannot be the reason to keep going with him.

Drops are the main issue..EVERYONE around here knows that. He drops throws right in his hands/numbers yet makes superb catches most WR can't. I just don't get it. He's dropped crucial passes in the end zone as well, which has driven people nuts, of course. It's so frustrating to me because I think he could be a freaking amazing WR in the NFL, just things haven't clicked for him and perhaps they never will. Another issue I thought was just his ability to separate and get open. Not sure what anyone else thinks....

Not to make excuses for him but a lot of WRs have dropped passes in the past two years in Cleveland (Gordon, Bess, Little, MoMass if I remember correctly) and one of the common denominators has been Brandon Weeden. People have mentioned in the past that whether it's a 60-yard pass or a 5-yard check down, BW threw that ball as hard as he could no matter what. It's not the main reason for the drops, however, I do think it could have been a factor.

Whatever. Little, based on who else gets brought in may not even get a chance to prove himself here in Cleveland. But I'd give him one last shot considering his contract is manageable. I thought there might have been consideration that Farmer/Shanny may want to see Little in the slot, but the signing of Hawkins punted that idea.

Before I'd give up on Greg Little altogether, I'd try him out at RB. A position he played his first two years in college. He's a good runner once he has the ball.... and he's a very good blocker. Hopefully, the new staff can figure out how to fix the problems as a WR, but if not there's no reason we couldn't at least see what kind of RB he might be.

I believe, but have zero proof, that Little is a guy w/off the field issues. I've known and seen too many guys w/his issues and the results were the same. There can be other explanations, but the majority of the time, it's the off the field issues for a guy like Little.

He's not a RB. Stop listening to Paydaman/Pblack. He wasn't even "signed" (I use signed loosely when referencing UNC athletics) to be a RB. He only played the position due to someone else getting injured his freshman year. He was brought to UNC as a WR, nothing more....and they were right to put him there. Too bad there was so much corruption under Butch Davis that he missed games and development time, but it's his fault too...he took the booster money.

As a RB, he's too big/tall. Runs to high. Not fast enough.

If you want to try him out at any other position, look to TE. But still, that won't fly.

Gotta agree with all of this... at RB, wouldn't be wise as you don't want to get hit high by these freak linebackers and etc and as mentioned, I don't think he'll know how to run low and etc. TE is the best fit for Greg outside WR, and even at that it all travels down the same road which requires catching the ball. I do think Greg could separate better with the chance of a linebacker lining up on him, but still... it comes down to when the ball is thrown, if he'll catch it... I'm not betting my money or beer on him catching it.

Same thing was said about Ricky Watters. Played WR in college, was thought to be too tall and "run too high" to play RB. I seem to recall a lot of people saying Peterson "ran too high" in college. Maybe Little wouldn't be good at the position, but what's the harm in letting him try if you're just going to cut him anyway? Little is exactly ONE inch taller than Peterson and weighs the same as him. Now obviously I'm not saying he can RUN like Peterson or Watters. But body size isn't a factor, ability is.
