Glad the front office didn't rush into a knee-jerk decision for this hire.

Other than Chud, have we had any of our coaching staff hired by anyone?

we also don't know if we are denying interviews privately or letting coaches interview and waiting on them being offered a job to see if it's worth it to match or let them walk etc

We lost our outside linebacker coach Brian Baker to the Redskins.

Norv is set to interview for the offensive coordinator position in Minnesota.

Supposedly Norv is in the running for the Vikings OC spot.

Maybe a prank call. I'd also suggest we call the Ravens and offer to hire Shanny Jr. for them.

Most of the coaches are already under contract. They would have to be given permission to talk to other teams for their open jobs. The Browns could simply deny permission to keep them. By offering to allow them to seek jobs elsewhere, the Browns may get out from under their contracts should they get hired away from the Browns. If they fire them, they'll likely have to pay their contracts out in full.

That's why you haven't heard about the Browns firing Horton or Turner but have allowed them (and others) to seek employment elsewhere if they can find it.

Yeah, there's a lot of people who use hyperbole on the internet. Adding some zone read plays when your QB is basically an Olympic track star is hardly being a genius. He's an OK coach, not really innovative or special though.

I was thinking about that earlier this season when it became apparent that the Shanahan's were out. LOL

I still think it is imperative that we get a QB. He'll help make the coach look good.

Regarding the coach.........I want a guy who has a bright mind and is the type that guys respond to.

It comes down to Gase or Malzahn for me, w/Quinn being the alternate.

The negative on Quinn---in my mind-------is that I think we probably go w/a offensive coach to team w/our new QB. I think those two guys will be joined at the hip.

hmmm maybe he'll want Weeden for a 3rd rounder

He did well with Hoyer why wouldn't the kid Bortles be their QB of choice?

Funny reading those remarks by the fans...almost an exact duplicate of what we read here...lol

The one that confuses me the most is the one depicting Norv as a run run type of guy that AP should be happy with but as we know its a pass first offense.

just saying.

I'm sure that Haslam is happy too. He doesn't have to pay Turner another dime. The same goes with Horton.

And to think that around this time last year most, if not all, were ecstatic with our 'all-star" coaching staff. How on earth could things have gone so wrong, so quickly? Good gawd.....

The only thing I can think of is that the personalities eventually collided. Maybe there was a difference in the frame-of-mind between the FO and coaching staff that wasn't apparent when they hired Chudzinski. Recall that these coordinators were Chudzinski's preferred men. The FO let him decide. It culminated in a 4-12 season and we all know the rest.

My gut says the game has passed by turner a bit. I've heard all of this talk since we hired him about being a great OC, but I didn't see greatness this year. I saw average, maybe above average. All of his successes have come at the hands of Aikman and Rivers, one HOFer and potential HOFer.

I heard all about his power running game and we passed the most in the league. Looking back a year the Chargers did the same thing and stunk. This year they got their running game back and won a playoff game with it at Cinci.

Maybe you use what talent you have? Who was he supposed to run?

Whenever Norv has had a good RB, he used them.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Exactly. Norv most likely still has it. The team he had in Cleveland, particularly QB & RB positions, was hot garbage compared to his teams that excelled.

That's what I find so funny. They didn't invest squat in this O, accept for Bess. And you can't blame the coaching staff for that hot mess we saw and are seeing from him.

They gave this staff Hoyer, who they actually won games with until he was hurt. Once again, not the coaching staffs fault.

So that once "great hiring job" of this coaching staff only a year ago? Now many in this fan base see as garbage. Why? Because this FO says so?

If it weren't so sad it would be hilarious.

Isn't this the truth. We went from having no playmakers and "I'd give up our #1 WR for a 3rd." to one all pro and a probowler because of Chud and Norv.

Like when he was with the Chargers from around 2008 to 2011 when they were good and he had some combination of LT and Michael Turner and Darren Sproles and ranked 18-20 almost every year in number of carries? Yet they were in the top 10 every year in pass attempts... I'm not saying he's good or bad, just that I'm not sure where this myth that he likes a power running game came from...

Now he did run the ball more when he had Emmitt Smith in Dallas and he was the OC... but you can't only do something when you have HOFers at about 5 positions... Hell Shurmur could have won with the offensive talent the Cowboys had back then.

Not a super bowl though.

AP will get his touches. Norv's offense is built around superstars. Emmitt Smith and Mike Irvin are superstars so they go the ball. Vincent Jackson and LT were superstars so they get the ball. Josh Gordon, superstar gets the ball. Willis McGahee not a superstar doesn't get the ball.

Lot of guys now talking about how good Norv is. Here are some interesting stats:

San Diego Chargers in 2013 w/a new coach and 2012 w/Norv.

Total Yds:
2013: 6,293
2012: 4,756

Passing:
2013: 4478
2012: 3,606

Rushing:
2013: 1.965
2012: 1,461

Sacks Allowed:
2013: 30
2012: 49

Rivers QB Rating:
2013: 105.5
2012: 88.6

Matthews Rushing Totals:
2013: 1,255
2012: 707

Sure looks like they did a lot better w/out Norv.

I feel this statement, I really do - but we didn't really pass the ball very effectively? Excluding Gordon which is just a proved, bonefied freak - throw in some Camerion and otherwise our pass wasn't effective.

This didn't stop Norv from lining up in shotgun on 3rd on inches, and quite more than one time too... just food for thought, qb goose is a guaranteed first down but...

We are talking about people that now have been, for several years, behind the camera. Hell Emmitt even did that dancing show. Times have changed, the game has changed and I am not taking anything away from Smith and LT, I got an enourmous crapload of respect for those two names - but Norv is questionable to me so often with some of his play calling and etc. The above remark was just one instance. But we can run the ball, pick up six yards, run it again and pick up seven yards and then not see another run play for ages it seemed. So many three and outs and pure pass plays. I can go on and on it feels like.

Call me an outcast or mean, but I for one hoping the Vikings take him and assure that Norv will not be a part of this organization and whoever coach ______'s staff.
