Remember last year at this time when we were all excited about having the best staff in the league. That was fun.

Norv's gonna turn Weeden into a Pro Bowler.

Richardson will run for 1200 yards, and Greg Little is going to have a breakout year.

Weeden is perfect for that offense! Horton is the best defensive coordinator in the league, it has nothing to do with Peterson, Campbell, Dockett, and Washington!

Hell yeah it was fun,,, at it turns out, it was also fleeting.

We'll know more in a few years, but we may have an owner more like Dan Snyder than Dan Rooney,,

You beat me to it Clem! I'm surprised someone ignorant about the Browns name hasn't gone on a crusade by now.

I hope some imbecile does. It would be fun to hear the suggested names... like the 'Cleveland Whites & Blacks' or the 'Cleveland Blacks & Whites'.

Personally, since my ancestry is half Slovak, I'm partial to the Cleveland Slavs!

#Buccaneers named George Warhop their OL coach. Had been with #Browns since 2009 and survived 2 previous head-coaching changes.

Browns defensive coordinator Ray Horton accepts job offer from Titans, according to reports
By Nate Ulrich Published: January 18, 2014

http://www.ohio.com/polopoly_fs/1.434563...browns06-01.jpg

As expected, defensive coordinator Ray Horton is leaving the Browns to take the same job with the Tennessee Titans.

Horton has accepted an offer from the Titans, according to multiple reports. Cleveland.com first reported the news this morning.

Horton’s departure was foreshadowed when the Browns fired coach Rob Chudzinski on Dec. 29 after he went 4-12 during his first season on the job. The Browns have yet to hire a new head coach.

Horton will reunite with new Titans coach Ken Whisenhunt. Horton was Whisenhunt’s defensive coordinator when the two spent the 2011-12 seasons together with the Arizona Cardinals.

Under Horton’s guidance, the Browns switched from a 4-3 system to a 3-4 scheme. They finished the 2013 regular season with the NFL’s ninth-ranked defense (332.4 yards allowed per game).

But the defense tied for 29th in the red zone (allowing touchdowns 64 percent of the time) and ranked 31st on third down (allowing opponents to convert 44.7 percent of the time). Horton's men also struggled mightily at the end of the second and fourth quarters, blowing several leads.

“I’m really disappointed that I didn’t do a better job of helping our team win more games,” Horton said Dec. 26 during his final news conference as a member of the Browns. “You look back at the season and right now, sitting here today, eight wins would get you into the playoffs.

“I’m disappointed that I didn’t get our guys, my guys, better equipped to finish whether it’s the fourth quarter or however that comes out because we didn’t finish, and that falls on my shoulders.”

Horton interviewed for the Minnesota Vikings’ head-coaching gig last week before losing out to Mike Zimmer. Last year, he interviewed with the Browns and Cardinals for head-coaching jobs before settling for the defensive coordinator job in Cleveland.

Like Horton, Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner is on his way out the door. On Thursday, Turner told the St. Paul Pioneer Press he expects to become the new offensive coordinator of the Vikings.

“I think there’s a good chance it’s going to happen,” Turner said.

I could see Horton doing well in Tennessee. I wonder if we will get the 3-4 or not.

Watch my only guy I wanted gone for sure was Tabor...he'll be the only one to remain

I was sort of hoping we kept both Warhop and Horton but I guess thats gone. This means the Coaching staff will have spend all its time on the Players and staff watching film etc. etc. Ergo this draft is going to be all Lombardi n Banner (if he's any help) did Farmer go anywhere? If he's here helping I'll feel a little better.

I liked this guy. I will miss him.

I think our OL wasn't quite as good this past year because Chud brought in another OL coach to team w/him, but George surely proved he was capable when he had full control.

Sad to see him go.

Sucks about Warhop. I actually liked the man. Evidently others did two cause he stuck around two regime changes. Best of wishes to him.

Jerry Jones sticking with DC Monte Kiffin for 2014

____

definitely thought he was gonna get the hammer dropped on him after that historically bad defense.

Garrett is awful and should have been fired by now as well, but he is just a puppet. Now they still have Kiffin to blame next year.

I don't know if that's true, but what is true is that that the FO doesn't seem to care....

Both. I mean, if Cioffi is that good, it will hurt us losing him, But what I'm saying is, they seemed to not have a plan, they seem unprepared and losing a good coach will hurt the team. If they cared, they might have made a side deal with him to remain through the changes.

Not that he would have accepted it. who knows, perhaps they tried to retain him but he decided to leave. That's always possible I guess.

And it is bad policy to not allow your assistants interview/leave because all the jobs will eventually get taken.

Oh I'm sure they do want the new HC to pick his guys.. I get that,,

In the past, the new HC had a little time to review the existing staff and pick and chose the guys he wanted to retain. that's not the case this time.

That's a double edged sword. we may not get our pick of the coaches because they are picked over.

That's not that big of a problem. we've done it before with RAC. Then again, I don't remember many being all that happy with his staff..

yes, if we really want our FO to become toxic to other coaches, then we could not only fire the staff after merely 1 year, but then not allow them to leave until there are few jobs left on the market.

Kubiak now "favorite" for Ravens OC

I heard that he wanted power that Pettine wasn't willing to give him.

Right. The word is that he wanted to be a "Pseudo-head coach." That doesn't seem like it would fly under a guy like Pettine.

If Kubiak is smart he would go somewhere with an established QB and try to work his way back to being a head coach.

doesn't look to me that the ravens have a plan

wasn't it yesterday that Shananhan was the favorite, now one interview and Kubiak is?

Looks more like the media is just throwing darts and hope they hit the bulls eye.

Ah well when (if) hired then we can read how he chose the ravens over the browns.
