If we are taking a QB in rounds 4 through 7 it would be fun to take a look at Alex Tanney. He can sure learn where to put the ball that's for sure =)

The previous regime agrees with you, lol.

The Jacksonville Jaguars and quarterback Chad Henne have agreed on a two-year contract, the team announced Friday.

Henne's deal is worth $8 million, including $4.5 million guaranteed in the first year, a league source said.

The deal comes four days before the beginning of free agency and one day before Henne could have begun negotiations with other teams.

DiRoccoJacksonville Jaguars fans might not like it, but locking up quarterback Chad Henne for two seasons was the best option the team had, writes Michael DiRocco. Blog

Henne, who signed a two-year deal worth $6.75 million with the Jaguars in 2012, started 13 games and threw for 3,421 yards and 13 touchdowns with 14 interceptions in 2013. He became the first Jaguars quarterback to throw for more than 3,000 yards in a season since David Garrard in 2009.

Henne's return could further cloud the future of Blaine Gabbert, who has struggled with injuries and inconsistency since being drafted 10th overall in 2011. Jacksonville is expected to take a quarterback with the third pick in May's draft. Gabbert won the starting job last season but started only three games because of injuries and eventually lost the starting job to Henne. Gabbert is entering the final year of his contract and his salary for 2014 is guaranteed.

The 28-year-old Henne led the Jaguars to a 4-4 record in the second half of the season after an 0-8 start and had nine TD passes and five interceptions in the final five games. And he did it without any elite weapons. He lost his best receiver (Justin Blackmon) to an indefinite suspension, didn't get much help from tight end Marcedes Lewis until the last month because of a calf injury, and lost his second-best receiver (Cecil Shorts) for the final three weeks because of a sports hernia.

Henne has a 5-14 record as a starter in two seasons with the Jaguars after spending the first four years of his career with Miami. He went 13-18 as a starter with the Dolphins.

you guys thinks thats just insurance for whatever rookie they draft? i'm wondering if they are going to take a QB with the 3rd pick or wait, and take a playmaker instead?

I don't believe the signing of Henne has any real impact on their drafting a QB. Any way you slice it, the only QB in this draft that's considered even close to "NFL ready" is Bridgewater.

While mock drafts and fan views fluctuate on QB's after their season is over, I doubt that most NFL GM's big boards change much. What this does is to give the Jags options. It puts them in a situation where they don't "have a dire need to start a rookie QB right away".

In comparison, the Browns paid Campbell over three mil. last year. Not that far apart. It certainly doesn't indicate "franchise QB money'.

Now whether they draft a QB at #3 is their plan, I would lean in the direction that's their intent to do so. But you must consider, if the Texans draft a QB and someone moves up ahead of the Jags to take a QB, would they take the 3rd QB in this draft with the #3 overall pick?

I believe the signing of Henne is simply an insurance policy so they don't feel cornered into something like that should it occur and open up the possibility of drafting a QB later should circumstances dictate that is the wise choice.

Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

Agreed.

It's funny, a JAX beat writer said team sources gave him info that, because of the signing, the team is now looking at a QB in the middle rounds.

Personally, I think this is a bunch of garbage....Jacksonville is still looking at the QB spot, even if that means having that guy sit for one year.

At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.
