Thanks, bbrowns!! I've kept up on these boards for a couple of years now. I just don't comment often and really enjoy reading a lot of the true football discussion on this forum. It is soooooo much different than BrownsChat. The majority of people here really know their stuff.

Those were my impressions at the time of the announced hire.

I think Mangini did an adequate job as HC and could have been good with a good Gm and some time. And support from the FO. Once it became clear that Holmgren was going to fire Mangini after the season the players stopped putting up with his crap.

Don't worry. I've been having my posts ignored since the beginning. I think it's a conspiracy against balding people with a missing digit.

I have a vested interest, but I really do not care. It's jaded x 10, it doesn't seem to matter who the coach is, we suck. So I'll get drunk at the games, cheer when we score and bitch when we lose.

I go to 1-4 games every season and I haven't been to a win since Derek Anderson torched Cinci in the season opener in 2007! So yeah, I really don't care who the coach is as long as we keep losing 12 games. I care about the team, it just seems it doesn't matter who the coach is, so it doesn't really matter, so I don't really care.

I'm actually 3-0 in my last 3 Browns games!

Did not go to a game last season.

Went to the Steeler win before that where they turned the ball over 342,523,342 times.

Year before that was the epic 6-3 win over Seattle.

Year before that was the Carolina win, Jake Delhomme was awful in that game, good for us, Jimmy Claussen was ten times worse that day...

I think all time I am like 2-30. Which is amazing since we aren't THAT bad, we just never seem to win at home and we NEVER win the Opener.

On the flip side, it helps my record that I've never been to an opener. But hey, if Jimmy thinks it will help, I guess I would sacrifice my Sunday for him to fly me to Cleveland on his private jet, and get me 50 yd line seats....

I was surprised to read in Peter King's MMQB that is was Haslam that really wanted McDaniels to be the HC of Browns. I, for one, think McDaniels not coming here is a blessing in disguise.

Schiano and McDaniels seem like the kiss of death to me. It greatly concerns me the FO was after these guys. I hope that is being massively overstated. Schiano especially..I would have been really really upset if they hired him.

The reports of Schiano were virtually dismissed almost as quickly as they were initially made known. If we had hired him... yeah. Wouldn't have been a good thing and that's all I'll say about that!

Schiano reeks of Lombardi. Lombardi and Schiano both have the Belichick man crush. People think things were bad when we were taking forever to hire someone, imagine if we took all that time and then hired Schiano. Yikes.

I'm sure this has been mentioned, but last year, we interviewed Horton to be our HC. We ended up hiring Chud and in turn hired Horton as DC.

Could they have been interviewing guys for other positions? And of course, since we were looking for a HC, the media automatically thought that's why we interviewed him? Just wondering

I doubt that's what they were doing with Schiano. From everything we know he was being interviewed as a head coaching candidate. His name has not been brought up one time for any team as a coordinator that I have seen.

Exactly what I was saying, "From Everything we know" What do we really know? I mean for sure? Nothing....

We knew they were interviewing Horton for the HC job last year (or did we) it did fulfill the Rooney rule. Then after hiring Chud, they hired Horton as DC.

Honestly, I don't know if that's what they were doing this time around. It would have been much more believable if they had hired Schiano as DC this week instead of looking like O'Niel is getting the job.

But it really doesn't matter, I was just posing a question. No biggie.

We're pretty bad man. 5-11 and 4-12 makes the odds of seeing a win bleak at best. And as you say, doesn't seem to matter one bit who the Coach is.

Unless these guys figure out how to draft a franchise quarterback, and figure out that in this division, you need a running game come November.... Paul Brown could be coaching this team and it wouldn't matter.

Reeks? Really? Please expound on the Beilichick/Shiano connection and how Lombardi bought into it. Please provide factual reports and leave out your biased BS.

First off, I haven't been the least bit critical of Lombardi. I am one of the few people who actually like him. So I am not biased against him.

Belichick and Schiano are known to be good friends. Belichick and Lombardi are known to be good friends.

And you diminish your own statement with this one. It seems to me that Lombardi isn't spelled B-E-L-I-C-H-I-C-K.

2004 season opener was my last game at Cleveland...since have gone twice to NJ vs Jets including 12/22/2013...I'm 1-1 in NJ and 1-1 in Cleveland as I attended our only Monday night Football game vs RAMS.

BPG should be banned from going to the games...lol
