until the team learns how to win... send them out wearing 1980's tampa bay orange colored Tu-Ty's with lavendar gloves, pink numbers on brown jerseys, and neon green socks and shoes.

From a marketing/personal standpoint... I think it's needed to keep up with the league.

I'd like to see some more modern designs and at least an 8-8 team.

i"m 33.

I'm 52, change it up but not to some ridiculous degree.

I like the flat orange helmet with a Seahawks type gloss, checkered stripe. I like the metallic look also.
Orange themed jersey and a pewter pant would look good too!

At the risk of getting flamed..........I'm 45. I love our helmets. Call me whatever - I don't care.........I love the helmets.

Make minor changes to the uni's? I don't care.

I don't understand why people want to add gray to our color pallet. You're not the first to mention it. Our colors are brown, orange, and white. Working with various shades of brown and orange, metallic or flat, should allow any designer worth their salt to come up with something interesting. Why add gray/pewter?

I don't like gray, either.

Personally, I do not like the color orange. If we keep it, I hope it the amount we see of it is darkened and reduced.

Btw GM------------I'm an old goat. It's not about being young and shallow. It's about our uniforms being rather hideous, especially the helmet. Man, I hate that shade of orange. It looks ridiculous.

I don't see uniforms as something that has any impact on the game. Changing the performance on the field is the only change that needs to be made.

But at this point, I really don't care if they change the uniforms or not. I am however aware that the packaging of a product, in no way has any impact on the product itself or how the product functions.

I've been right there with you for forever Pit. Put dog poo in a fancy wrapper and it's still dog poo.

But at this point, I'm game for just about anything. the older I get and the closer I get to a time when I may not be around, the more desperate I'm getting for a Super Bowl win. LOL

I know, it's a fatalistic approach, but geez, I'm getting tired of waiting.. Aren't you?

and no, I still don't think a change in Unis will make us a winner, but I don't think it hurts anything either..

OK it looks like I am wrong on the age thing. But this old fart still loves our helmets, and doesn't want any color changes.

Just weighing in here. I like the traditional uni's just fine. I like the white-on-white with no logo orange helmets. Its old school - picture Johnny U in hightops walking up behind center like a gunfighter, back when the NFL was about the steak, not the sizzle. I like the idea of the Browns being the anti-slick hipster team in the league. Instead, I want them to be the team that will knock your teeth out. I know those two things aren't mutually exclusive, but I want the Browns to be the team that ignores conventions of style and concentrates solely on substance and tradition.

I'm with you but I'm willing to concede to the coming change. My hope is it's a minimal change to the uniforms only. Though I could live with a metallic or flat helmet. Flat being preferred. Personally I love the color orange. I also like that we don't use black or gray in our uni's.
What I do want is for the NFL to continue to not allow the weekly costume changes performed by college teams such as the Ducks. It's a uniform. Be uniform.

I'm an old fart too, and 2 decades of losing with these uniforms is enough for me. It's time to make a change.

I don't agree that it died. It was taken from us for 3 years, but those uniforms were what we fought to keep. Now it seems like a lot of Browns fans want to kick tradition to the curb. But I'll tell you what, there's a reason I got a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes when the Browns took the field in that first preseason game in '99. The Browns were back. The failures since then have absolutely nothing to do with the uni's; they have everything to do with the ineptitude of the people making personnel decisions since the return.

Anyway, I know I'm in the minority here, so I'll refrain from beating a dead horse. I support the team whatever they wear - just don't embarass me by going all "Oregon" with it.

That was 1999 .... before a decade and a half of ineptitude and disastrous play on the field, combined with a multitude of disastrous decisions made off the field. It's time to make changes.

Out with the old, and in with the new.

I agree with that. We should've of started anew back in 99 in my opinion. I'm sure Haslem wants to create something that will sell to the non-browns fan. I've bought more jersey's from other teams, based on the style alone. The chargers powder blue is still a favorite of mine.

Okay, first you say this.....

Quote:

And then you say this? So how does this impact being "tired of waiting"?

And yes, I'm tired of waiting too. But with your above statement, it appears you feel it will have no impact in that respect either.

No, I don't think it hurts anything. But for those who feel it will really have any effect in the play on the field or some "change in culture", they are very far off base.

I see it as a marketing move to sell merchandise. I have no problem with the change but I do believe that it's purely marketing and will solve nothing.

Does it hurt anything? No. Does it really accomplish anything? No

Yes, I said both of those thing and yes, they are opposites. But I think want nothing to change, but be willing to change. Do you get that?

Oh I get that and I'm on the same page in that regard. I don't care if they change the uniforms. I just don't see it accomplishing anything other than having new uniforms.

I like the ones we have just fine but at this juncture I'm truly ambivalent about many things regarding the team.

That's not how I meant it. I meant that we have been losers for a long, long time. The last time we had a decent team was in the 1980s. That is around 30 years ago. We have never won a Super Bowl and they started in the late 1960s. Our last championship was in 1964 and that was fifty years ago.

So, I ask.......what tradition? A tradition of losing?

I agree that new uniforms will not make us winners., but you have to agree that keeping the same uniforms will not help us win........right?

It's all about what we like. If you like the old uniforms, that's fine. It just an opinion. But, I am not less of a fan because I don't like the color scheme and the stupid pumpkin helmets.

I also want to make this clear. I completely understand how guys like you and GM want to keep the same uniforms. I get it. A part of me agrees w/you and I actually have made a similar argument for years. It's just that we've lost for so long, that it seems kinda shallow to hold onto our uniforms as some sort of iconic pride. And believe me, I won't lose any sleep over it if we keep the uniforms the same.

Again, it's just opinion. There really isn't a right or wrong answer. I imagine the Browns are trying to get a feel for what the fans think and would probably like seeing information like this. I'm sure the preferences of the fans will influence their decisions about the uniforms. After all, it is a marketing move.

I don't mind change. It's time. We are still going to keep the basic colors...maybe a different shade. Those mock-ups with the tan pants looked pretty sharp.

Hyperbole much? Did you see the Jags abomination?
I don't get the fan uniform self hate. I like that we have such a different color pallet. We share orange with just a few other NFL teams, dolphins, donkeys and bungles, the only three I can think of. The brown is our own. I like our uniqueness.
Every other team in the league shares red, blue, or black. I'm glad we don't.
Call me crazy but part of what I like about the Browns is our colors.

remember, guys. i'm not saying it was a magical potion, but the bengals got new uniforms, and starting actually being a winning organization,

I like orange. I wish the shade we used wasn't so in your face. The Orange we use on this website (or at least how it comes out on my computer screen) is much better.

I am not a fan of the numbers on the helmets. Especially the way we did it with our throwback uniforms. Those looked like they were drawn on with crayon.

Bengals pre helmet stripes 81-90. After 201-270.
While they had a surge in the 80's after the stripes appeared I'd say that had nothing to do with the ugly helmet change and more about 10 year vet Kenny Anderson playing lights out. Having his best season in 1981.

I actually like the jags uniform other than the helmet. The helmet is just silly, like something an 8 year old would come up with.

Someone mentioned the color we have on here and i would love to see this burnt orange type color mixed in with the dark brown but hey I am in favor of a logo. One side of the helmet would remain empty and orange , while other side, i would like to see like a dark image something like

The way we've been playing the last few years, I think the doberhuahua is more appropriate.
