Bortles can spin the ball, he looked impressive... McCarron actually impressed me too. Nice touch on the deep outs.
None of this matters because it's just guys in shorts with no DB's or pressure...
Marquise Lee looks really really good too. Man I would go nuts if we somehow took him at 26 to go with a QB at 4. What a nice catapult into the 2014 season that would be...
The best thing that could happen for us is for Houston to fall in love with Clowney, then the Rams take an OT, and the Jags take anything but a QB. (Highly unlikely though ... at least the jags anyway) I'd be fine with the Jags taking Manziel though. He still concerns me .... with his height and the offense he played in ...... but I would take him if he were the last QB standing. However, from what I have seen, I would much prefer Bridgewater.

Clowney slowed down on his 2nd 40 ... 4.48 ... unofficial. Guy on ESPN.com says thats faster than 56 WRs and RBs that ran yesterday (not to mention all the QBs).

This where Clowney is going to dominate. He didn't do anything great on the bench, even a few reps below avg, but that was never his strentgh. His strength is speed and explosion. I have a feeling he is going to show some monster jumping numbers and do vey well in the agility drills. We have already seen he runs as fast as most NFL receivers.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
I hope he blows the Texans away so much that they have to take him.

Quote: This is the problem with the combine, did he get out-benched by a punter?
Yes. But to be fair, that punter was a beast.
He put the special in special teams.
When he tackled you, you stayed tackled.
He was the only punter return men tried to run away from on the field.

Wouldn't that be a hoot? Or to cause them to lose another high draft choice or suspend Belichick for a season. ... as a repeat offender.
Both Farmer and Pettine have QB as a priority. No not a Manning Newton Luck - also please note those guys are overall #1 picks. Which point blank we will not get the BEST QB in this draft. I don't think it means we won't pick one at 4 what it might mean is we will not sell the farm to move up to #1 or #2.
We have a QB in mind for #4...maybe another for #26 and another for #35. If we go past #4 quite frankly I hope we wait for the 3rd and take a kid like McCarron or for me the kid with the best Developmental Prospects is Logan Thomas. You groom him for 3 years and you have a dud are a Super star!
OTs for us...Robinson would be the best upgrade on Schwartz who would have to move inside maybe even LG. But that kid is a beast of a RT.

I am not sure what this means. Are you saying that the best QB in the draft is always the #1 pick?
What I'm saying is LEAF ain't the best freaking QB of his draft? At the time of the draft The best QB of the draft will be taken by #1 - its not written in stone like Jamarcus Russel or like Rodgers who honed his craft for several years.
Those are the exceptions. But Luck was considered the best of 2012 regardless what the media was saying about RG3 a darn good QB that would have been #1 in almost any other draft year. There is only one #1 QB in this draft class and its Teddy Bridgewater. If they Texans pick JM its for the marketing plus he's a good QB but I would be shocked if they do that.
What I'm saying is we do not have the #1 pick and usually that will mean the shot at the BEST QB in this class. Am I saying that is a rule that happens 100% of the time? No just most of the time.

Thank you for the more detailed explanation. I now understand what you are saying.
Quote: Well you also mentioned his track record with the draft was not impressive. Did you mean strictly for the fact he was NEVER THE MAN IN CHARGE for the picks.
I can only assume he has been very instrumental in making the Board. Which is a big key feature in the draft.
I do know he had a big hand in making our board for this draft and actually the board is 90%+ complete just a few tweaks after the interviews and possibly a surprise or two.
So no he was never a GM before. Possibly one who did would have difficulties working with a HC that he didn't HIRE.
"I'm not going to be a homer, for homer's sake"
So if we happen to like and feel secure about Farmer as our new GM. Its not out of football intelligence or logic just blind homerism. That debate is lame
I did not say his track record with the draft is "unimpressive" I said he has no track record of success. Which he doesn't. That's a fact. Pioli does. The guy before Pioli? Up for debate.
If you like and feel secure about Farmer having most of the control over our draft then I believe you are doing it on gut instinct and feeling. What intelligence and logic went into your secure feelings about Farmer having almost total control over those 10 picks? I don't think I've debated this topic.
I hope Farmer has grown significantly since his days with the Chiefs. Once again, I will not be a homer for being a homer's sake. Our "new Ozzie" hasn't proven one d$#@^ thing. Yet. But, I am pulling for him.
Farmer... I've got my eye on you! You better knock this one out of the park.
Its not your opinion I totally disagree with its the fact that If I don't AGREE with your opinion I'm just a blind HOMERISM.
This is what I do know Olskool. People in the NFL progress...Coaches start out as interns, asst. ect. ect. ect. Players start out as rookies...the vast majority of players started out not as an IMPACT PICK where they will get their SHOT. Players and coaches Progress every year and mostly players will eventually PEAK and then have to go into ending their career mode.
Coaches they progress also the Learn and learn and learn - I'm almost 60 and still coaching and I'm learning every freaking season something. So the Pettines get better and better till guess what they are ready to become a HC.
Well lets look at Farmer he's 39 and he was a player in the NFL so he went into some workshop probably for the NFL and made his bones and Progressed not in the coaching area but FO. He has a keen prospective of being a player not too common and no Not Like MILLEN who's prelude to his GM days was being an Announcer for the team. Farmer has worked and grown in the FO and mostly through the personnel.
What I like and trust about Farmer and this draft - is that he is READY...so many people who know have had nothing but praise for him. Not just he can do the job but he will be GREAT in doing the job. So its is I guess HOMERISM to not take just one blip and make into something. ITS EVERYONE who has spoken about him as in 100% its been good. Even Lombardi or he wouldn't have put so much faith in his analysis as we all know how important our need for QB was. Well the down and dirty evaluation was being done by Farmer.
Senior Bowl Farmer. So we had trust in him before this HOMER came along and put some trust in him. FACTS so let me get this straight until he has like 3-5 year history as a GM that is when I can have faith in him?
I will tell you something...I was "AFRAID" of Lombardi handling this draft even as a devout HOMER I really never went around expressing it. Now I feel like we are in good hands. What I like best is I think he will listen to his coaching staff oh not as a puppet to them...just listen absorb and then make his decision. There will be more Multi Opinion in this draft than we would have with the self proclaimed Committee BS we were hearing.
Of course the little logic I make just cannot be correct for the fact that I'm just blinded by Homerism. Again to me that is one of the lamest opposition debate I get. It ain't the logic you bring ... it don't count cause you are a Homer as opposed to what facts do you bring to the table. There is no history so the fact is he has -0- back up to his prowess therefore it cannot exist...here we go again unless you are a homer...see my point. I don't mind your opinion at all. I mind the main chip in you pot is I'm a HOMER and are blinded.

McCarron does not do much for me. In my mind he is about as average as you can get.
He does nothing great but does everything OK.
In watching him throw the ball I am unimpressed with his his throwing motion. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot and his elbow slips below his shoulder. He will be inconsistent in accuracy.
Jimmy G has a classic throwing motion. Very similar to Luck in the way he delivers the ball.
If things go wrong in the 4 slot. I would consider Jimmy G in the middle of the second round and move there to get him if things lay out properly.

Former Colts GM Bill Polian projects Eastern Illinois QB Jimmy Garoppolo as a first-round pick.
It's unclear if that means Polian believes Garoppolo is deserving of a first-round pick, or will be a first-rounder. Either way, it's a fanciful prediction from the man who oversaw the decline of the Colts. Standing in at 6-foot-2, 219 pounds, Garoppolo has been praised for his footwork and release, but faces major questions about his arm strength. He's generally considered a mid-round prospect. For what it's worth, CBS' Dane Brugler believes it's "possible" Garoppolo will be a first-rounder.
Just to make my opinon known on the Browns draft book.....I am sure it wasn't. If it was, it might have our logo on it, but would be stupid if it did, and it sure wouldn't have a large NFL logo plastered on it.
IMO it was probably a hand out listing all the players and their numbers, hired agents and contact number, and when they were scheduled to workout. The team pages as we saw probably listed all the teams with all the necessary contact information.
If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.
well that is without a doubt a Browns Logo, but I question if it's a Browns book. I'd bet it's just open to a page that has the logo there.
I can't believe he's have that in the open. I mean, I have little doubt he has stuff with the logo on it laying around, maybe even an analysis of the players to be evaluated.. But I don't think that Lombardi is dumb enough to take it out in the open. I KNOW that Belichick isn't.
