I know nothing is gonna happen yet, it's early but I'd like to see what we could get if we packaged Asdruble & Bourn, Bourn isnt worth what were paying him, when healthy he's soild in Center and a desent batter who can steal alot of bases, but lets face it, he's injured more than not, cant hit American leauge pitchers and if not on base cant steal, Nygeon is player alot better than Micheal this season, Let go of Asdruble & Bourn and lets see if we can get a legit # 4 hitter

I don't know that any team is going to want to pay those guys over $20mil this year nor do I think they would give much of value back if they did.

I'm disappointed by the team's start, but beginning to feel like we have something good in our starting rotation. Just need to get some length out of Salazar - 6 innings is all we ask, Danny. I sure wish we had a big bopper in the middle of the lineup. Maybe Jesus Aguilar will get a shot soon - he's hitting well in Columbus.

He'd have to DH or play 1B, I think. Swisher could move to RF or DH, I guess. Or they could just trade him (unlikely).

4 in a row ...... not 3.
We are out of last, half a game behind KC, and 1.5 games behind Chicago for 2nd.

Why I'm not worried,
We continue to hold serve at home. We kind of got screwed with 2 west coast trips early in the season. Get that road record closer to .500 and we will be fine.

This has been an incredibly rough (and long) stretch by for the Tribe ...... Man, I mean, nothing is working right. No offense, no pitching ..... no defense .... nothing. We had that one offensive outburst, but other than that, we've been flat. Our pitching has been up and (mostly) down ...... and we seem to make 2-3 errors per game. I heard something on the radio today along the lines of we have committed twice as many errors as we did last year through the same number of games .... and have allowed (IIRC) 14 more Unearned runs. That is staggering, and it makes it almost impossible to win a darn game. I didn't get to hear all of today's game, but I did listen long enough to hear Lonnie air mail another throw past 1st. Man, we have to get back to playing fundamental baseball again. Masterson hasn't helped himself so far this year. He looked like $15 million would be a bargain ...... now he looks like he might not get half that much. Kluber is pitching well, as is Tomlin in short duty, but McAllister has had a rough go of it so far, and Salazar has already been sent down.. We are calling up Bauer for this weekend, so hopefully he has developed into a guy who can pitch at the Major League level consistently ........ and hopefully Kipnis will be back soon ..... but man, this has been one incredibly disappointing early season so far.

If they're ten games out and fading by Memorial Day, what would be the problem with a sell off? And who's getting sold - Cabrera, Bourne, Swisher maybe... hardly CC or Lee if years ago.

Typical Indians though. They always do things half ass. It was nice for them to pick up Swisher, and Bourn, but they never follow it up the next off-season to make the team better. In fact they got worse losing Kazmir, who could be a cy young candidate the way he is pitching. They had to know how inconsistent Santana, and Swisher are, but yet the only bat they picked up was David Murphy. They got lucky last year feasting on minor league teams in September, but anyone that knew baseball, the Indians don't come close to matching the Tigers in talent.
Oakland doesn't spend a lot, but moneyball has never been hotter. He had a few down years, but the past 3 he has that team rolling. I've never seen a gm, just throw a bunch of farm hands into the rotation year after year, and get the results. Drew Pomeranz is pitching lights out for them, as is Sonny Gray. It might be time for Antonetti to take a hike. We just can't develop talent in the farm system.

The fat lady has already sang and it is time to sell and rebuild. Your hung with Swisher because nobody wants a 15 million paycheck hitting 200 with 6 errors. The best you get for Santanna is a second tier minor league guy. The Yankees may give a AA prospect for Cabrerra and Reyburn and Giambi should be designated for assignment. The pitching staff is a joke, as far as starters go you have a number 4 (Masterson) and 5 (Klubber) so it's a makeover. Antonetti has neither the "smarts" nor the money to rebuild this mess.

I don't have a problem with a sell-off of players if we're out of contention, but I'm a little surprised if it comes to that this early. It is pretty ironic that the Indians 2014 ad campaign is (was) titled "Unfinished Business".

That's what this group does. Same thing happened from 2007 to 2008. They didn't try and get better. That just sat on what they had.
This is why people don't go to games, they don't believe ownership and management is that committed to winning. They want to win, but they don't want to push their chips forward.

I'm really beginning to think Antonetti may not be here for much longer. Last year may have been complete luck.

Oh well ..... we lost 2 after winning 9 of 10 ..... and we're 2.5 games out of 1st. The season is over! We might as well give up now!
Seriously though ..... I think that this team is still trying to fit pieces in, and get things stabilized again. I am amazed at how well Francona handled Chisenhall. He never got frustrated with him, and basically rebuilt his confidence at the plate so that he can do what he is doing today. That was a masterful job. We need to get the pitching staff settled. Masterson is a big part of that. last year he was excellent, and he's been far more human this year. The Tribe has also struggled on the road ...... and both Santana and Swisher have struggled to get going. We're 5th in runs scored though, and 10th in pitching ..... so it comes down to situational play more than anything else from what I can see. Well, that, and actually fielding the darn ball. We give up too many extra outs with stupid errors. We have made 60 already.
If this team gets the fielding cleaned up, and gets the pitching staff somewhat stabilized, then I like their chances. Getting Swisher or Santana back to productivity would also be a huge help. I cannot figure out what happened to Santana. He seemed to turn things around last year ...... only to stall again this year.
Anyway .... even though he drives me a little crazy when he sticks with his veterans who are struggling, I like the way Francona handles his players. He really turned Chisenhall around by carefully rebuilding him at the plate, and starting him out with only situations where he could thrive. If we can just get things cleaned up, I think that this team can go places.

Team will continue to play like a roller coaster .... We need and have needed that one bat , the clutch bat , the power , the clean up guy .. They had a chance in the off season but did not get it done .. I think they will play meaningful ball the rest of the season // ... Oh yea ; bases loaded nobody out and we don't score

Well .... the downward stroke of the roller coaster continues ....... we get Santana and Swisher back and lose a total of 4 in a row so far. Masterson had another bad start. Growing pains for the team ...... I hope.

Ugh - Masterson's line last night: 2 IP, 5 ER, 0 K, 59 pitches and only 28 were strikes. For the season he's 4-5 with 5.05 ERA and WHIP of 1.52. By most accounts he's struggling to touch 90 MPH with his fastball. And to think I was one of the people who thought the Indians should pony up Homer Bailey type money to keep him just 2-3 months ago ...

You have to give the front office credit on that one. He'll probably get a contract similar to Ubaldo, but nowhere near the money he was asking for in the offseason. Losing Kazmir is the one that hurts. He could been had for 22 million over 2 years. I don't think anyone would've predicted the year he is having though.

Indians are last in MLB in fielding with 64 errors in 68 games. (Best is Cinci with 27 errors.) Cabrera has 12 errors already, Chisenhall / Santana / Aviles have a combined 18 errors at 3B, Yan Gomes is worst of AL catchers with 9 errors, and Swisher is worst in AL at 1B with 6 errors. Giving teams extra outs will kill you every time.

Tito effect in full display. He gets this team to tread water when in the past, they'd just fold up.
I think it's pretty obvious this team hasn't hit their stride yet, which is good news.
I don't think they make the playoffs, but they will be in it to the end I say.

Thought I'd post this since it is a former Indian ..... It really is a shame that he became a walking band-aid, with injury not only after injury, but seemingly piled on top of injury as well. He had so much talent, but just could never overcome the injury bug. Red Sox to designate Grady Sizemore for assignment - CBSSports.com http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/eye-on-base...-for-assignmentThe Red Sox are going to designate outfielder Grady Sizemore for assignment, confirms Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com. This means he'll eventually either be claimed by a different team (doubtful), be released or sent down to the minors. Sizemore, 31, is hitting .216/.288/.324 (69 OPS+) with 10 doubles, two triples, two homers, 15 RBI, 14 runs and five stolen bases on the season. A lot of that, though, came early on. Sizemore is hitting .187/.263/.267 since April 15. After losing Jacoby Ellsbury to free agency, the Red Sox attempted to enter the season with a combination of Sizemore and youngster Jackie Bradley Jr. in center field. The results have been pretty awful and the club is currently six games below .500. Sizemore's demise has been rather extraordinary. Through his age-25 season, he was one of the best players in baseball. He'd already been to three All-Star Games and was coming off a season in which he won both a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger while finishing 10th in AL MVP voting. Since then, though, injuries have essentially ruined his career. Sizemore was last a productive player in 2010 -- though not All-Star caliber any longer -- and has appeared in 262 games from 2009 to the present.

Meanwhile, while the Indians can't seem to decide which side of .500 they want to play on ... how about the Royals? First place just a few days before the start of summer. How long since that's happened? Nine game winning streak too. They're playing some good ball. Suddenly this is a pretty tight division.

The Royals have a really damn good pitching staff. As long as they stay healthy, they have a chance to stay in it all year.
