LMAO, Swisher just hit a walk-off Grand Salami in the bottom of the 10th. We were just saying how much he sucks and in the next second he hit the homer. Then I said "Nick Swisher is CLUTCH, bro!".

I had the game on at work, and him yelling the homerun call attracted quite an audience.

I was taking my mom to the store when Swisher came to the plate.

I mentioned (to her immense lack of interest) that Swisher had a walk off hit recently in a similar situation. Right before he hit the home run, I started clapping, like I knew what was coming. My mom looked at me and asked why I was clapping, and I said "just listen". Then he hits the HR. lol It was really weird. I knew that he was going to hit the damn thing out.

It was really fun. Great finish today.

Swish, Santana, and Bourn are all love/hate players for this city. Hopefully they stabilize their offense around the All Star break.

I'm headed to the game tonight! Dollar dogs, fireworks, and a heated matchup against the Tigers. I'm excited

I think the PD said they expcted 35,000 for tonight, I'm thinking the rain will prevent that number from happening. Gonna be close, but I say the game starts on time.

The Indians recalled Vinnie Pestano from Columbus yesterday. His stat line there was pretty encouraging ... 25.1 IP, 32 K, 7 walks, 6 saves, 1.78 ERA, .99 WHIP. If Pestano can return to his 2012 form, Axford becomes expendable. I think he might be DFA when they recall McAllister for his start next week. Cody Allen appears to have the stuff to be the closer they hoped Axford would be.

Anyone want to get sick? Check out Scott Kazmir's season so far - he's 9-2. Could've kept him for $10-11M per year.

I was sick when we lost both Scott Kazmir and Joe Smith and didn;t take a real shot at Cruz .. I mean what would it have cost to have Smith , Kazmir and Cruz batting clean up ?

I'm down at the jake tonight. It's a madhouse! This place feels like the late 90s all over again. The lines to get in stretched past the Q. The free Omar jerseys were gone by 5:30. Luckily I got down here in plenty of time. Good matchup, led zero fireworks, and Omar ceremony tonight. It will rock.

Once again, the fans finally show up (+40K) and the Indians poop the bed. More awesome amazingness from Nick Swisher ($15M/yr), going 0-4 with 3 K's. Indians are spending $28.5M on two guys (Swisher, Bourn) that are giving very little back in production. Gotta get more from salaries that make up 35% of your payroll.

Santana slowly turning into Slamtana after his DL stint. Swisher annoys the snot out of me. BROhio, OSU homer, and everything about him make me want to puke. He adds absolutely nothing to this lineup other than an example on how not to have quality at-bats.

At least Bourn brings great defense.

Not sure I agree with you there. He has great speed, but doesn't appear to get a good jump on batted balls, nor does he take especially good angles. I've seen way too many balls drop in front of him that I know Lofton or Sizemore would have gotten to. He's also had several flies to the gap fall between him and the RF or LF because he fails to take charge, which is really the CF's job. I'd rather see Brantley in CF, and wouldn't mind at all if they traded Bourn for a RH corner OF with some pop. Also wouldn't mind if they included Brohio in that deal, although its doubtful anyone would take that much salary with so little production potential.

Man, this team is up ,,,, and down ....... and up ...... and down .......

We gotta get some consistency going here.

Giving up 8 .... ooops 9 runs through 5 innings makes it really hard to win games. Tomlin was having a pretty decent year ..... and today the wheels came off.

Every time we face a team like Detroit the talent gap between our team and theirs is always very obvious. Can someone remind me again why Victor Martinez is on the Tigers?

They either need to trade for some pitching, or just have a firesale. I'm just tired of the mediocrity from this franchise year in and year out. Seriously, who wants to see .500 ball every single year? They are average in most categories. Go all in, or go all out, I really believe that.

I would like to see how Atchison alone would do in the closer role. He certainly has the experience and knows how to pitch for a strike when he needs to and doesn't nibble/mess around like some of our pitchers do. Seems to be cool headed and I like him.

I am also sick of our mediocre pitching, especially by some of the starters. I understand that everyone have bad days now and then but it's more than that for some of these guys. Until we get legitimate pitching we will continue to be nowhere....which brings me to the decision to let people like Kazmir go last year. You don't just get rid of good pitchers, you pay them what they want and not be cheap. And then the front office didn't do a lot last off season which sort of pissed me off. I agree with others, trade/pay who you have to and make the team better at all costs. And watching 500 baseball is not what any fan, manager, or owner wants.

As crazy as this is going to sound ..... if I am the Indians, I might look at grooming Carrasco for the closer's role.

He is awful as he was when starting, in relief he has been outstanding. In his last 7 outings going into today, he pitched 11.1 innings, allowed 1 ER, struck out 14 while walking only 1.

He struggles so badly as a starter, but as a relief pitcher he seems to find himself. He could well have a future as a closer. He definitely has the stuff.

I really like how guys like Carrasco, Kluber, Bauer, and Chisenhall have come on this year, and how Brantley has developed into a premium all around hitter with some power.

Swisher worries me immensely. Hopefully the team can get him turned around. Maybe they can have Chisenhall talk to him about how just putting the ball in play can pay off big for you. (which he should already know) Chisenhall ia another guy who has really let the team down. He is still a patient hitter at the plate, but maybe too patient. He walks a ton.He has walked 53 times in only 229 plate appearances. Unfortunately, he is also hitting only .201. That is scary for a guy who obviously sees the ball well at the plate given that he walks roughly once every 5 AB.

I do think that it is obvious that Francona will stay with his veterans until they completely prove that they cannot get the job done. I would hope that Swisher is heading for limited AB. Maybe the team can rebuild him as they did Chisenhall. Hopefully, but Swisher is a much more finished product, and may not be as willing to listen to coaching. (and I truly think that coaching is a real strength for this team)

I really feel like turning my ESPN updates for the Indians off...

More often I seem to be saying "Indians Lost.." instead of "Oh hey, look, the Indians won.."

The former usually gets a lot of "Well duh" reactions...

4-4 vs. Detroit this season even after just getting a 3 game sweep handed to us. So, ummm, yeah.

Weekend was frustrating. Team has been crazy streaky (and were last year too), but, overall, this is a decent baseball team that is keeping itself in the hunt. If we get hot down the stretch (like we did last year), then we can make the playoffs again. If not, then we are buried.

I wish we were good enough to just grab hold of a good record and ride it out, but that doesn't happen in today's MLB much. There's only 1 AL team above .600 (Oakland) and none under .400. It's just a general muck of slightly above and slightly below average teams floating around.

Our single biggest issue this season has been LHP starters. 9-15 v. LHP while we are 28-24 v. RHP.

He really has done a nice job this year, for the most part. His defense has really hurt him a great deal. He has 10 unearned runs in only 10 appearances.

He has a real bulldog mentality, which I really like in a pitcher. He's a really nice back of the rotation kind of guy.

Indians take 2 of 3 from the Dodgers - in LA. Hanley Ramirez, Andre Ethier, Adrian Gonzalez, Yasiel Puig, Matt Kemp; a starting rotation that includes Clay Kershaw, Zach Greinke, Dan Haren, and Josh Beckett (ok, we only faced two of them, and lost to one). But still, a payroll that triples the Indians', and we take 2 of 3. I don't get it, but I like it.

You could tell baseball is doing fantastic when teams in the middle of payroll have $110 million teams. Wasn't too long ago if you were over 100 million, you were in the top 5. The money in sports today is insane.

Just in case no one noticed ..... after dropping a game in extras last night, the Indians came back and rallied for 9 runs in the 7th and 8th innings to beat the Yankees 9-3.

Really all season ......

They have been a .500 team .....win one, lose one ..... split a series ...... win one series .... lose the next .......

They have been the epitome of inconsistency so far. Hopefully they will be able to put something together after the All Star break.

How about Cody Allen for the Tribe?

He moves into the closers role, and he has something like a .5 ERA since taking over that role ...... and he has now saved 12 games out of 13 opportunities. Another 2 Ks in the 9th today, and he allowed no one to even reach base.

Trevor Bauer looked pretty darn good today too. 10 K in 6.2 innings.

We are in good shape at this point. 7.5 games behind isn't impossible.

11 game road trip after the All-Star break will be key - starting in Motown next weekend. The Indians really need Masterson to get well and anchor the rotation, and we need the guys we know can hit to start hitting. Kipnis, Cabrera, Santana, and Swisher all had a fairly brutal first half of the season. You'd think the law of averages will catch up and that eventually one or all of them will get hot.

and only 3.5 GB of the wild card (with both the Angels and M`s holding the current spots but having to play a pretty brutal AL West slate later this season)
