The JAX are doing some good deals, now the Raiders have finally brought in a player....they come closer to give us the "FA-dud" torch USE THE DAMN MONEY and SIGN SOME SOLID PLAYERS already Isiah Trufant and Jim "yay" Dray are our catch the past two days

Again, that's not even close to saying he didn't want to come here. Twas bout monay, we, like others, undervalued him and low balled him...so he figured, might as well take the one year low ball offer from Carolina and stay put

Another missed opportunity to upgrade a need position and of course it's from a smart GM: 16.30 RE-SIGNING! A one-year, $1m deal for Giants fullback Henry Hynoski is the next bit of news from Adam Schefter. Hynoski turned in a Top-5 run-blocking season among fullbacks (+7.6) as a sophomore in 2012 before going down with a broken shoulder in Week 3 of last year. With the New York backfield in flux, having another solid blocking option in the FB spot is a welcome factor. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/03/13/2014-free-agency-live-blog-day-3/

Wasn't meant to be confrontational, but YTown said he didn't want to come here, which what I wanted to read. Of course it's semantics, but I think considering the deal he took then and now and what he said, it's clear as day that anybody that paid would have gotten him

Seriously? Man, you love FA spending.
For me, I'll gamble on a late rounder like Copeland.
At DT, context and meaning are a scarecrow kicking at moving goalposts.

Your list is missing a second Cromartie (one of the Rodgers variety).
I would take either Cromartie or Carlos Rogers of that list.

Spending? Dude costs barely over vet minimum and was a top 5 blocking FB in 2012 before an injury. Of course, alternatively we can still trot out Obi or the next Marecic hopeful rook. That's a lot smarter Been there done that at little cost is a no brainer...Reese gets it, always did. One of the most consistent GMs in the game (and longest tenure too I think)

Yup.... We continue to lack a real FB who can actually play at a somewhat high level. If and when we sign Ben Tate we better have a good FB to complement him, not some waste of a roster spot like Marecic.

Well, that didn't take long....Ghee is a Charger 20.15 SIGNING AND RE-SIGNING! Are we about to get on a roll with signings again? The San Diego Chargers official twitter account has confirmed that they’ve made two moves, bringing back linebacker Reggie Walker and adding cornerback Brandon Ghee. Walker was a versatile player for them in 2013, starting the year at inside linebacker before kicking out to the outside after injuries kicked in to others at the position. Ghee is a player we just didn’t see enough of to form a clear picture, but in just 80 snaops on defense, he managed to put up a +4.9 grade and broke up four of the nine passes thrown his way. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2014/03/13/2014-free-agency-live-blog-day-3/

Panthers re-signed QB Derek Anderson. https://twitter.com/AdamSchefterCheck Weeden McCoy Quinn...to go I bet Weeden goes to Chicago, perfect fit for that Offense with the WR they have and QB guru coach. He'll back up Cutler McCoy? Not so sure, maybe Dallas? Rams? I see him as a guy who could fall a step into 3rd QB territory, maybe one last backup season Quinn is a QB3 now or out of the league

so, the Raiders decide not to tag Veldheer, go after Saffold and sign him too a contract most expect was too expensive. then, they fail him on the physical and he goes back to the Rams. meaning that Oakland had $60mil in cap room, which was at least $10mil more than any other team and all they have to show for it is retaining oft-injured Darren McFadden? they have now lost Veldheer, R.Jennings, L.Houston, and Saffold (i'm considering him a loss because they could have signed someone else if they didn't waste their time).

Patriots sign Brandon Browner Revis and Browner is a pretty devastating combo. Browner is suspended for the first four games.

I posted in the FA links thread that apparently Browner has NOT signed yet... and his agaent is pissed... People I would like to see us go after... Cornerbacks (One of) Brandon Browner Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie Antonio Cromartie Charles Tillman Wide Receivers (Slot and maybe a #2) Hakeem Nicks Julian Edelmen Emmanuel Sanders James Jones Linebacker (Solidify the Inside, Draft someone to learn) Brandon Spikes Daryl Smith Wesley Woodyard Running Back Ben Tate LeGarrette Blount

It's funny ...... but DRC is only 27 ....... but seems like he's much older than that. He is a bigger CB, and if we spend big on a CB, I would prefer one with size to match up with bigger WR.
Antonio Cromartie is actually older, at 29. He is also a bigger CB.
How about Walter Thurmond? He was suspended for substance abuse last year, but he's a quality player. His biggest issue is that he's been banged up quite a bit in his career.
As far as WR ...... I really don't know. It seems like we'll probably get Hawkins. That takes care of the slot. However, I wonder if he can play outside or not. I really don't know. If he can, then it could open things up for a guy like Edelman to play the slot. I look at Hawkins' shiftiness, and ability to break contact, and think that he might be able to get off press coverage and be an outside guy. There have certainly been short outside receivers in the NFL in the past. Can Hawkins fill that role as a starter? I don't know.
As far as ILB ...... I kinda like Daryl Smith from the Ravens as an option. Yeah he's 32 ..... but he made plays for the Ravens last year. He had 123 tackles last year, 8 for a loss, with 5 sacks, 3 INT, and 2 FF. He also had 18 passes defensed. If we want playmaking ILB, he and Dansby could be a nice duo for a year or 2 while we develop their replacements.
I think that Tate is probably fait accompli, at least from the sound of things. I just hope that we don't overpay him, especially with a lot of future guarantees. He's a quality RB, but expensive free agent RB have a tendency to blow up. If we can get him on a reasonable 2-3 year deal, and draft a guy in the 3rd or 4th round, and team them up with Baker, then I could be happy with that.

I love all these corners, Thurmond is a guy we could sign who's a little under the radar, but if you think he can develop then yeah.. I just fear we aren't really going after any of them..
I wanted Maclin but he never was available, Nicks is a guy that can come in and be a solid #2 ASSUMING he stays healthy..
And on that, I think some people get wrapped up in the #1, #2, slot guy a bit much. If you've got 4-5 WRs that can all produce. Who cares who's the #1 and who's in the slot? He'll I'd put Gordon in the slot occasionally..
Yeah I'd love to bring in another Vet MLB. Even if we're going after a guy like Mack, who would be better to learn from?
If we sign Tate, I still want Hyde or Mason, but I REALLY don't want to spend a 2nd round pick on an RB...

I agree on the designations. I have always said the #1 receiver is the guy the QB just threw the ball towards.

IF we sign Hawkins, the only guy I'm fairly intrigued by is James Jones. Let's just say we sign him and Tate and then draft Watkins. We'd roll with Hoyer and give him some great weapons.
"First down inside the 10. A score here will put us in the Super Bowl. Jeudy is far to the left as Njoku settles into the slot. Tillman is flanked out wide to the right. Judkins and Ford are split in the backfield as Flacco takes the snap ... Here we go."

I strongly disagree on the "draft Watkins" idea, but I certainly agree with you on us trying to sign Jones. I believe he may be one of the most underrated WR's in this FA market.
Intoducing for The Cleveland Browns, Quarterback Deshawn "The Predator" Watson. He will also be the one to choose your next head coach.

If we sign Tate it means we can draft one at #26 or #35 which is where everyone assumed we would draft a RB.

Even if we don't sign Tate we could still do that. RBs can be found in every round. WAS proved that and Shanahan just came from there. I don't think we should pick a RB in the first 3 picks... maybe our 2nd 3rd rounder but that's as high as I would want to go.

Both well over 30yo and Wharton was contemplating retirement.
Only option remaining I'd take a flyer on is Shelley Smith, but he's a pure RG and far from a sure thing. OG market is pretty much done. I think that was a mistake as we have both spots unsettled and still 40mil in cap room
