Unless we throw a big pile of money at someone, I'm not sure why any WR who has options would sign with us unless their other option was Jacksonville. Who is our QB?

I always have a tough time evaluating guys like this. 10 year in the league, not particularly amazing overall stats..
He's 32 years old, you have to ask, how much was there ever in the tank and how much is there left.
Like I said, I have a hard time evaluating guys like him....

Me too. Well, not the NFL Network thing, but that he was done. Wouldn't a late round or UDFA WR be about the same as a washed up vet?

Didn't Kramer settle a hot coffee lawsuit with a similar deal?

From the linked article by the OP...
"He’s visiting the Dolphins first, as he looks for work. His last two seasons in Detroit were marred by injury, missing 17 games the last two seasons, including a pizza-protecting broken arm. "
Dang, this is one of the reasons I wish people would just past the article instead of only the link.
If one doesn't like that reason I have others.

missed 7 games last year and 10 the year before that I believe, sounds to me like he is breaking down at 32, not that unusual.

I always confuse him and Nate Washington (whom I'd love as a #2 to Gordon)
Burleson seems like another David Nelson signing...

he is just another lesson that Detroit Lion players and coaches should not have food in the car. they'll either get busted for driving naked through a drive-thru or burn themselves.
and, are we sure that Winslow wasn't employed by the Lions when he was looking for Boston Market?

Burleson is a good guy to have as a third or fourth option (which is what he would be for us). I see this as a no risk signing. If he is washed up, you cut him.

This is where I got the info on missing 4 games in the last 5 years,, I read it backwards,, he only missed 5 games in his FIRST 5 years. Since then, he's not been at all reliable., My bad.., Sorry

WR first and most top priority is to catch the ball... I'm not sure "how" much better, but I'd rather start Nate over Greg. Personally I think I'd rather start someone from the draft opposed to either of them.
Don't mind the visit though. Doesn't hurt to look and see what he could do for us.

I thought a lot of people were wanting a veteran receiver. Well Nate is a good veteran receiver. He played 10 years so that has to count for something.
Personally I think Nate is a good choice. He doesn't show a lot stats wise, but he is a solid player. If he does sign, he'll most likely get a one year deal. His biggest contribution will be teaching the young guys how to be a pro receiver.

Well, who hasn't done that at least a few times in their lifetime? I mean, come on ...... let's be honest here.
No one else has? OK .... maybe just me. lol
Anyway ..... Burleson is a solid #2/3 receiver, and could be worth a look.
We might also look at a guy like Sidney Rice as a potential #2 receiver. He managed to make it back to full strength late last season.
Jason Avant is another guy who could fill a mentor role for a WCO team.
Most older WR are going to be banged up, and need to be able to mentor our younger guys as well as offering a reliable target in limited use.
How about Miles Austin?

and the sad thing is, David Nelson ended up putting up about the same stats (a few less receptions and yards, but same TDs) as greg little, in his 12 games last season.

I wouldn't mind it. It would be an improvement, if even a slight one. I want a WR taken in the first round, I'll be honest. However if we don't plan on Watkins at 4, then we need a vet, because I don't think any of these other guys are NFL ready at this point and their impact on the field will be limited initially. A one-year deal with Nate(or better yet Miles Austin as someone else mentioned) would give the rook time to learn their routes better and pick up "tricks" from the vet. Is it a blockbuster move? No. Would it make us a contender right away? Probably not. Would it pay dividends down the road? I believe so.

If you believe the hype machine out there, this is one of the deepest drafts for WR's. So, rather than taking a guy like Burleson, I'd rather develop a guy on our own.
We picked up this Hawkins kid from Cincy.. Add in a Rookie of note coupled with Gordon and we could have a substantial upgrade. One can only hope that Benji and Little come to the party. (can't forget Cameron either)

I'm still on the load mentality at WR/pass catcher...
Give me Watkins, Amaro, and Kelvin Benjamin to combine with Gordon and Cameron...PLUS Hawkins? You cant cover everyone...
Those 5/6 plus Ben Tate...I could QB that group. Bring the offense, and bring it hard! I dont care about the "thats not the formula thats worked" Offense wins in this league (i mean so does defense...ask the super bowl participants) but our D is in a good place.
Hawkins, Gordon, Cameron, Watkins, Amaro, Kelvin Benjamin...We'll have danger EVERYWHERE. Red Zone offense...Gordon, Benjamin, Cameron, Amaro? Good luck...plus the waterbug Hawkins and Tate...good night.
Hoyer can QB that group...and if not, get a guy like McCarron/Shaw/Boyd later in the draft and mold them. The only downside to the draft that I look at...is that we'd lack a CB... But if you trade up from the 3rd with one of our picks to get Shayne Skov late in the 2nd where he's most likely to go, and take Purifoy with the other 3rd...
I just dont see how with our current lineup, and adding those 5 (6 if you add the later round QB) in the draft how we could possibly struggle. QB would be a concern...but not a death sentence. Hoyer and a rookie (as long as he fits the specs that Pettine n co want...oh man.

Oh I think the FO is going to go WR heavy in this draft. Having Gordon on the team is too big of an opportunity to pass up; You need some guys to be opposite side threats thus keeping Gordon hard to defend.
I really like the thoughts of Sammy Watkins at 4, and would love to see Evans at 26...

Thats the best part...it gives us options. Bigger, stronger? No Hawkins, KBenj and the TEs, smaller quicker? Hawkins plus TBenj...Would be amazing.
OldCold...I really hope so, but I really want them to get them early. The lower end of the WRs are still good, but they arent on the same level, and I think Kelvin Benjamin is an Alshon Jeffrey style beast, just younger and less experienced. But he made a HUGE play to win that title. I also dont think Evans will be there at 26. I'd rather have Kelvin too I think...kid has championship plays written all over him. He makes big plays in big moments...when have we had one of those ever.
I just wanna see us have good pass catchers. I'm sick of seeing our guys leave the Browns and then leave the league because they suck. Outside of Bryant, Braylon, Lance Moore (TC Cut), and KW2...no one has left to any success...MoMass and Robiskie went to Jax who has what I thought was WORSE WRs and they couldnt even hang on there...Terrible... Get us some guys that can run routes and catch the ball...
I really think that the words, cant catch or runs bad routes should be synonymous with doesnt have a job. GLittle.

I'd welcome Burleson.
He started off quite well last year. Seemed to thrive feeding off of Megatron's double-teams. Might do the same w/Gordon.
Supposed to be a solid leader and mentor. I don't see any reason why the pizza arm should impact 2014.
