Maybe, but that's total speculation. He would have had Shurmur for a year and Chudzinski for a year (providing everything else happens exactly as it did) and that's a horrible thing for any QB to go through.
Irony abounds.
***Gordon, I really didn't think you could be this stOOpid, but you exceeded my expectations. Wussy. Manziel, see Josh Gordon. Dumbass.***

Exactly................
You CAN NOT be afraid to fail because sure ^&%# failure will follow without a good solid QB anyway...............
The KEY is to identify your guy and then get him and forget the cost because the cost of not having him is 14 years and counting of misery...
I have totally stepped aside from posting opinion on who to draft the answer to who to draft is a QB because without a solid QB your toast...
That said I think no I believe Hoyer is going to be really good if he can manage to stay healthy... The way he reads the D pre and post snap tells you all you need to know. He does things no defense can adjust to.. So the amount of actual playing time concerns me then again I know what I saw and this kid has "IT".
So kicking the can so to speak on a QB has to be tied with how you evaluate Hoyer. If the Browns jump on Watkins the Browns are all in with Hoyer, look for #2 to be O line help followed by corner followed by RB....
At this point I would kick the can and bank on Hoyer and get someone (QB) to develop behind him..............
JMHO
What if they are targeting someone later like Murray, Fales, Wenning, Shaw or Smith late in the draft.
I actually think that they want a 4-year colelge starter as their field general. It may be that they want a mobile QB able that aren't flashy but are able to move the chains with their feet if necessary.

I really really like Murray, in fact he would be my pick...
The key to the Browns draft is do they believe in Hoyer? If they do they get him another weapon and shore up the line...
But believing in Hoyer changes their draft, I think they do believe in Hoyer in fact I believe more so in Hoyer then I do anyone they can draft, even with a small sample size to go by you can see the guy is ready to explode.. He reads D and he gets rid of the ball because he trusts what he see's.. I don't think we can do better in THIS draft....
I'm not sure where Murray will go but I would get him over any of the other QB's in this draft...

Yea if Shurmur could have just taught his receivers to catch with their ass cheeks, Colt would have be in Hall of Fame contention.

I'm like you. Right now, I like Hoyer over any QB in this draft. If my inclination about the type of QB that they want is right, they won't take the QBs that I think are better than Murray, but Murray is probably the type of QB they want to draft. It's a matter of where they think they have to be to get him. They also have to have a 'back-up' plan in case they judge wrongly and miss out on him.

I like Hoyer but does he have the arm to be effective when the weather turns? Is he more than a flash in the pan 1 hit wonder? Can he play more than 2 games without getting injured?
Big questions remain and just to many not to draft a QB.

Think about this, who was the WR with the most yards for the Browns in 2011, McCoy's last season as the starting QB? Greg Little with 709 yards. The next receiver with the most was Josh Cribbs with 518 Massaquoi had 384. Ben Watson (410 yards) had more than Massaquoi. Shurmur didn't even think to use Jordan Cameron. He had only 6 catches for 33 yards. Robiskie (a 2nd round pick) had just 3 catches.
That's the brilliance of Pat Shurmur shining through.

I've said it before, but the thing I hated the MOST about Shurmur was his (stupid) need to have "sets" for almost every play...
I swear every play you'd see 3-5 guys come in and out...
Continuity be damned..
But to your point on Murray. I'd take him in the 3rd. Not that we've had great luck with 3rd round QBs. But I'd make sure I do whatever it takes for him not to see the field for at least a year... Unless he pulls a Wilson and comes in and blows everyone away...
Two QBs with leg injuries would suck though..
Am I the only one that pronounces hyperbole "Hyper-bowl" instead of "hy-per-bo-le"?

I'm not concerned by the injuries anymore. These injuries aren't nearly as crippling as they once were. I simply don't want a dumb QB. They don't have to be Einstein's, but I don't want them to be total morons either.
