You peeps who wanted BridgeOverTroubledWaters make me laugh. This guy is the most overated qb in history and guess what...NO ONE has bothered to even pick him until the END of round 1.
Now on to my analysis of the Browns draft. I was mad as a hornet for trading down and taking a CB, because I wanted one of the 7 big time players. Now looking at it with Manziel being picked, I am ECSTATIC!!!! We addressed the CB problem and got THE BEST QB IN THIS DRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND we got one more first rounder in 2015!
Let me tell you. I am an Alabama Crimson Tide fan true and true, and MANZIEL DOMINATED the BEST TEAM in college football for TWO YEARS! Manziel is special. This guy is a can't miss prospect and IS VERY SMART UNLIKE Couch, Dweedon ETC.... Manziel has a strong ACCURATE arm with mobility like no other. I love the previous posters name for Manziel - A mini Ben Rothlesburger...:) Peeps complaining about big Dlineman killing him??? LOL You should have seen Johnny pick apart a great Alabama defense with BIG 5 star defenders in his face!!!!!!!!
He has the "it" factor and he will show it to you. This is Fran Tarkenton II with a MORE ACCURATE and STRONGER arm! If nothing else the Browns FO did not REACH for Johnny. He was a value pick at 22. And as much as I like Hoyer, Johnny WILL START. Just wait. EVEN if Manziel becomes a bust, my hat is still off to the Browns FO for taking a chance on Johnny and doing the best they could to jump start this PATHETIC franchise.
Great job front office. Great first round in my humble opinion.
This....was shocked when I saw him being more frail than the model interviewing him. Can't see him lasting if he keeps Johnny football up and even if he becomes a pocket guy, which he won't.
Man, with Teddy this would have been a killer 1st round, sure took the sails out of it.
Oh well, go Johnny!! Run, Johnny, run !!

Quote: J/C .Coach Pettit. Hoyer will beat out any QB I draft. Good. Let Johnny set for few yrs
All the JFB lovers. Calling it now. Hoyer will start first game. There is no reason to throw JFB in early
I agree. I hope that Hoyer starts, and we let Manziel develop. He needs to understand protections at the NFL level, or he;ll get killed up here.
I didn't want him but if he sits behind Hoyer I'm OK with it. There is No reason to start him. Hoyer did fine
The question remains: will fans have the patience to allow him to develop? Every administration has caved into the whims of the media since we started drafting QBs.

Well, if we are in such good shape talent wise that we don't need any more players to take the field, then yes, let him sit for years. But we better make a deep playoff run this year. Because Johnny sitting on the bench for years isn't helping us win any games. He's not scoring points and he's not keeping the other guys from scoring on us. I guess you guys won't mind ALL of our draft picks sitting this year too, right? We don't need any help on the field. We need bench warmers.
You do know that the first bad play Hoyer makes 70,000 people will be chanting Johnny, Johnny right? We've been down this road before. DA/Quinn. If Hoyer plays well this year then Johnny sits again NEXT season , right? Or do we trade JFF? Welcome to another QB controversy. Those are ALWAYS so much fun. Can't wait for Hoyer to go down and the fans cheer.... BET it will happen.
Our only choice IMO is to move Hoyer for what ever we can get and let Johnny start game one. Ride out the growing pains and hope he isn't as brittle as he looks. But take heart... we won't. We'll go through the same QB BS we did just a few years ago. And it will get JUST as ugly. Happy days....

I'm not so sure about that chanting thing, Hoyer electrified the Fans last season... That gets him a few bad plays this year.
This....was shocked when I saw him being more frail than the model interviewing him. !
Frail???????? LOL You have NO idea what you are even talking about. Go look at some Manziel tape TeddyBrideOverTroubledWaters homer.......LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Johnny Manziel can really play Quarterback. He is a great, great football player!
Johnny Manziel is the only Quarterback in this draft who has the nads big enough to come into Cleveland and have any chance of leading this organization, this city, and turning it into a winner. Say what you want, but the guys on this board who know, they know that it takes the nads of a Bernie or Brian Sipe to handle this kind of pressure.
I believe learning behind Hoyer is great. He learned from Brady and will teach Johnny what he needs to do to change from college to the nfl. JM has all the tools and yes he is 5 11 3/4 but guys in cleats he is a good 6ft. lol. Sorry got tired of all those people hollering about the tiny qb we just got when Alabama couldn't handle him with the best D in college football. Oh yeah some of them got drafted tonight. He will be a nightmare for D' cord in the afc north. I think Shanahan can teach him along with Hoyer to be an nfl qb that will survive and win, or at least i sure do hope so.
Quote: I'm not so sure about that chanting thing, Hoyer electrified the Fans last season... That gets him a few bad plays this year.
Then maybe we should have drafted him some help instead of taking his replacement. But as long as our team is fine as is..... And we don't need any more playmakers. I guess we can afford to draft bench warmers for depth. But that means we better make the playoffs. If we are SO good we can afford to draft backups and bench warmers then we should have no trouble vying for the division and making the playoffs.
Hey hey hey... no need to name call. No need to mask profanity. DJ is a solid dude.
You're never going to agree with everybody on here, so just enjoy it when things go the way you want and let those that don't like it express their frustration anyway they want.
AND DJ... WE GOT JOHNNY FOOTBALL MAN! nanner nanner

Johnny can handle it.
We are finally on our way.
If he's so great then he should easily be able to start DAY ONE. And his barely 200 lb body should be able to take the BEATING he will endure each and every week in the NFL. I can expect us to win the division this year with such a great quarterback? I mean Andrew Luck took the Colts to the playoffs his first season and he's nowhere NEAR as good as Johnny Football....

Did you SEE the interview on the red carpet. The woman interviewing Johnny was not only taller than him but bigger too. Johnny is the smallest quarterback in the league. Wilson outweighs him by at least 15 pounds and when you look at RW he's ROCK hard solid. He's got some GUNS. But you got your guy so enjoy it. Hope you're right and he's great. But make no mistake. he is the smallest QB in the league right now. And he's going to take one HELL of a beating the way he runs around.
Either way, unless we want another DA/Quinn debacle Johnny has to start this year.
All the guys that wanted Manziel at #4 ... all the chips to the table ... THIS is why I wanted someone like Watkins at #4. Because Manziel and the other QBs were all project picks. I figured 2 of them would be available at 26 (and they were), and we ended up getting our choice of QB at 22. At number 4, any one of them would of been a reach. At #22, he's a very good pick and I'm thrilled with it.
I think Manziel has a ton of potential too. Everybody is forgetting he was a true freshman and has only played 2 years of college ball. He's like 10 years younger than Weeden when we drafted him.
I was kind of bummed that we had Watkins right there at #4 and traded down, but we got a shutdown corner to pair with Haden and a freaking 2015 first rounder ... Yeah, I'll take that!
I'd give this draft an A. We got a QB that everyone was screaming for us to take at 4 ... at 22!! We got a shutdown QB. And we got a possible top 10 pick for next year. Had we not given up a 3rd to move up three spots (which I thought was a little high) ... I would of given this draft an A plus.
This....was shocked when I saw him being more frail than the model interviewing him. !

Do you not see the good PR this has made for the city of Cleveland? That PR is for a good reason. I'm sorry that Manziel didn't impress you with his 2 year run in the SEC. I guess you are a Bridgewater fan?? What great ball teams he played...NOT!!!!!!! LOL!! Oh and Johnny will be starting. Just wait, He'll show ya.....:)
Quote: I didn't want him at 4, I have to feel ok about taking him at 22. Huge boom or bust potential, here's to hoping he booms. I hope fans and media will allow him to sit behind Hoyer and learn. Go Brown!
I guess he liked what he saw in Cleveland. Way to turn on the charm, ladies.
Quote: Could care less about the media being into the Browns. Would have rather had Watkins and Dennard and the team would have been more improved IMO. Get familiar with the term "Mush Rush". It's how LSU shut him down. Forced him to throw from the pocket. Gilbert may end up being a good pick but don't like passing on Watkins for him.
'
I do...for the simple fact we got a first and a fourth round pick next year....
" Now here you are running these dirty old streets tattoo on your neck fake gold on your teeth, got the hood here snowed but you can't fool me, we both know who you are"
Damn people really hate this kid.He may be a total bust, but until he is that I'm going to pull for him 100% to be our future QB.I think he should hold the clipboard and watch Hoyer (who I think is good) before taking over the reigns.Gotta say it's pretty cool to be the talk of the NFL today.Ray did a fine job,and I'm feelin good...
Did we just walk out of this draft with the top corner, Johnny Manziel, and potentially a top 10 pick next year? Excuse me?
I wonder if Pettine worked his connections in Buffalo to get that 2015 first rounder. I was so hoping that it would have been a Khalil Mack selection at #4, but having him going to Oakland isn't the worst thing that could happen. They really needed to improve their defense after letting Lamarr Houston leave in free agency and they did that with a player that will be a huge impact for them.
This is the guy I wanted since September when I saw him tear apart Alabama's defense.
Great things are ahead.
No issues with his "character." Dude was a college kid. If everyone judged college kids who like to drink then some "young punk" who was told he would never be anything by this board wouldn't grow up to manage employees twice his age. He'll be fine from a character perspective.
I thought the whole AFC North drafted very well today...never thought Dennard would last to Cincinnati... Shazier to Pittsburgh was a little odd...but that guy can fly...worry about him taking on blocks in a 3-4...Mosley was a very nice pick for Baltimore as well...though I thought theyd surely go after one of the safeties...I thought we would surely go for some O...but Gilbert on D is a great pick...the best secondary player in the draft...and a great returner for when Benjamin goes down again...Manziel presented very good value that late in round one...he was my second rated QB and I will support him in orange and brown...but pleased with day one
I hope the best for Johnny Cleveland and I will cheer my best for him. but What I dont understand is that how everyone is making excuses about his size/playing style..... he couldnt keep healthy in college. I'm uneasy on how he'll hold up in the pros. That is my biggest concern with him. He's an intelligent player but does have many mechanical issues.
And once again we drafted a QB that didnt play under center in college.

What are you talking about?????? Johnny played in every game in college!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello? Anybody out there????????
what a freaking draft so far. we get the top cb and the top QB and a first next year.....Farmer didnt dissapoint so far. Im on cloud 9 right now, cant wait to see him in preseason
We still have more picks too...
Man, we addressed 2 huge needs. Combine that with our FA moves, and I think we have covered our bases. This frees us up to really go after the best players we see left... OG, WR, maybe a MLB to prep for the future...
I'm thrille with what Ray Farmer has done with this. So to say, it's all on paper, these guys have to show it on the field, but wow, what a night....
I think taking him at 22 lessens the presure to play him. For people who a worried about Hoyer, you shouldn't be. He's a pro, and will continue to work hard. I'm not worried about him one bit.
I think it's going to be very beneficial to Manziel to sit in film room with Hoyer. Brian makes really quick decisions which comes from years of being an understudy and putting in the work. He does what Brandon Weeden could never do. Johnny will have his moments where he will have some freedom on the field, but if he can learn to get it and fire it, that will cut down on the running and scrambling, and lessen the chances of injury.
I truly believe he can develop into a quarterback who can sit and read defenses, but that will take time. Everything I have read about this guy is that he woks extremely hard at his craft.
Do you think that Josh Gordon will tell him that when he gets his chance and if he sees trouble, that he shouldn't worry about it. Maybe something like, "Just toss it up there in my direction and I'll go get it!"
It's an interesting pick. I'm not sure I would have made it, but with the QBs that they brought in, mobility seems to be something that they desire in their QBs and Manziel certainly has that.
Quote: Because all those guys he played against in college were soooooo small and slow.
Exactly. The rules these days baby qbs. He just needs to learn when to slide, or go out of bounds.
he needs to learn how to slide, and how to operate in the pocket, and under Center, His footwork needs cleaned up a lot, but that's true of most QBs coming into the NFL. I think that he is going to have to work on reading the entire field as well.
He does have some special abilities, including, from what I have seen, ball placement, and has leadership galore, but he has work to do.
I agree with all of that, but we were responding to the criticism of him being fragile.

What are you talking about?????? Johnny played in every game in college!!!!!!!!!!!! Hello? Anybody out there????????
He played the second half of the season seriously banged up.
"As the injuries piled up toward the end of the season, the effect it had on his play became evident. Sumlin and Texas A&M don't often go into details about injuries so it's difficult to know how badly he was beat up at season's end. But there's no questioning his toughness; he played whenever he was physically able or found a way to get on the field. "
In the NFL, this is a Troy Polamalu pick 6 or a strip sack.
Sorry, you lose...Johnny has HUGE hands and doesn't fumble. The pass was questionable, but Johnny is the "it" this franchise has needed since Bernie. That's my Alabama team he was shredding for almost 500 total yards PERSONALLY in ONE game.........Nick Saban had a year to try and stop Johnny and WOOPS, he didn't.
