I am stereo-typed all the time. I have long hair, which seems to give people reason to presume I smoke cigarettes, drink a lot and smoke weed. I smoke an occasional cigar during my buddy and I's annual super-bowl party weekend, I drink a couple beers at gatherings or parties, and I have never even tried smoking weed. It was just something I had no interest in.
But I look the part of a stoner, with long hair, played in hair bands, hung out in all the bars in my younger years. So I often get people come up and ask me if I have any, or would like to partake in some they have.
I know plenty of people who do smoke weed, and they are normal people, and in the typical situation, you can not tell they just smoked. For many casual smokers it has more of a calming affect, similar to someone having a drink to calm nerves before getting up to speak to a crowd.
The whole movie stoner stereo-type is rare, maybe more prevalent among younger folks who are smoking it to get wasted, so they smoke a lot, much like younger folks will go partying with the sole intent of getting drunk beyond belief. One can only hope they outgrow this stage, and can just enjoy these things in moderation later in life.
When my son does thing I feel are stupid or just silly, I often think back to what I was doing at his age, and realize it's just part of growing up. Thankfully he has taken much of my advice on things, and makes more informed and thought-out choices than I did then.
We don't have to agree with each other, to respect each others opinion.

Has it ever made someone paranoid? Yes it has. Does it make all people who use it, or even most people who use it paranoid? No it doesn't. If you can't see that the government embellishes and even lies, and not just our government, but all governments, to get their citizens to conform to certain ideas or policies, you are beyond help. By not being paranoid, I see this. Those who are paranoid, buy into anything they're told and allow the fear of imposed paranoia perpetrated upon them to control their life and their decisions. I haven't smoked weed for years, but I fully understand just how many people have meaningful, purposeful life's, pay their taxes and raise their children without any of the effects shown in this foolish propaganda film. Doctors, lawyers, nurses, teachers and many professionals have people within those professions who smoke. Unlike this blanket belief you seem to have, nothing could be further from the truth. I know that for a fact.

I think he is too. I mean nobody could be that naïve and gullible as to actually believe the things he posts.
I mean drinking does make some people mean. Those people shouldn't drink. There are some people who get paranoid when they smoke weed. They shouldn't smoke weed.
We all know people who have addictive personalities. It can be almost anything from food to gambling. It's not so much the substance itself as the personality of certain people.
That's the odd thing about weed. Nobody is trying to convince anyone to smoke it. Many people just want the right to smoke it without penalty of law or being fired from their job much like drinkers.
Why on earth the federal government is so dead set against it and considers it a schedule on drug is foolish at best. I have my own suspicions as to why, but it's just from my own research and the way I understand how politics works. I have no actual proof.

No appeal hearing set yet in Josh Gordon case Before a decision can be made on whether Browns receiver Josh Gordon will miss at least a full calendar year, an appeal hearing must be held. Before an appeal hearing can be held, it must be scheduled. That hasn’t happened, yet. Per a source with knowledge of the situation, an appeal hearing has not yet been placed on the calendar. From the Browns’ perspective, time is of the essence. If Gordon eventually will miss at least a full year, the suspension will begin immediately. The sooner it starts, the sooner it’s done — and the sooner Gordon can return. If a ruling comes not long before Week One of the 2014 regular season, Gordon would miss if not all of the preparations for the 2015 regular season. Pending a final decision via the arbitration process, settlement remains a possibility. Last year, Gordon’s proposed four-game suspension was resolved with an agreed two-game ban. While that could happen now, no talks have occurred to date on a possible deal. I actually agree with you. But not for the tax payers, but for the politicians. I can see many big businesses who funnel a lot of money to politicians through lobbyists as not wanted weed to be legal. Even hemp alone is outlawed and it doesn't even produce a high yet is counted in the same category. It's even legal to import hemp, yet not grow it here.
I can see why it's in the interest of the textile industry, chemical companies, oil companies and the pharmaceutical industry to keep weed illegal. When you can produce medicine, biodegradable plastic, durable, inexpensive clothing and bio diesel fuel from weed and its bi-products, there's no doubt that pressure from big business is involved in a very real attempt to keep weed illegal.
At one pint in time, the additional reason of garnering votes was involved. And I'm sure it still is in some conservative parts of the country. But as people who have actually experienced weed as well as the people around them that smoke weed are getting older, many of the stigmas that were popular beliefs have fallen by the way side.
More and more, the population is for the legalization of weed. And more and more they're finding out products and medicinal reasons why weed is not as bad as we had been taught to believe it was so many years ago.
Legalization would be a boom for the tax base. Which would be good for the economy of states, localities and the federal government. But it would not be in the best interest of big business, politicians and their wallets.
While that may not be the entire answer, I believe this plays a very big roll in the equation.

Oh I noticed it. I also understand how the board works. The discussion went away from josh Gordon and evolved into a discussion and some pretty off the wall, and naïve comments concerning weed. So the thread was locked. And new news concerning the Gordon situation needed a new thread. But that's okay. You can blame me because you don't understand how things are supposed to work. I don't mind. Considering the source and comments in this discussion, it's not hard to understand where the brain damage lies. Or it could be someone simply making off the wall comments about something to try to garner a reaction. The problem with that is, almost everyone reading this discussion understands just how much BS it is.

Drug testing, legally required for many public employers, has become widespread in the private sector over the past two decades. A 2006 survey by the Society for Human Resource Management found that 84 percent of employers required new hires to pass drug screenings, and 39 percent randomly tested employees after they were hired. In addition, 73 percent tested workers when drug use was suspected and 58 percent required testing after accidents on the job.

A source told profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio that the hearing isn't even on the calendar yet. That's significant, because the sooner Gordon is banned, the sooner he can try to get back into the league. If he loses the appeal, the ban will begin immediately, which means that he wouldn't be able to petition NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for reinstatement until the end of next June. That means he'd miss all of organized team activities and mandatory minicamp next year. If the hearing is postponed much longer, Gordon could be in jeopardy of missing some or all of training camp next year.............
