The letter he wrote would lead you to believe it is the max length. The smart move would be to have an opt out to be a free agent in the summer of 2016.

By reading that letter, it would have to be at least 4 years.
As for KL, the Cavs could wait one year and just sign him without giving up Wiggins (Assuming the Cavs could fit that under the cap).
